I need help. It's urgent. Does anyone have any in depth knowledge of booking flights, particularly during covid? Which airlines are flying where and when etc? I promise this is in no way related to holiday or frivolous weddings abroad, it's important. Please PM if you can help

OP I've sent you a message with link to phone number for British High Commisison in the capital of the island

clipclop5 · 13/06/2020 01:03

@Theloftmonster

I really couldn't afford a private charter and I'm not about to do a fund my life crap appeal.
@Theloftmonster If it was as serious as you are making it out to be, I’m certain you would find a way of funding. It might not be as expensive as you think.
friskybivalves · 13/06/2020 01:05

I couldn't find any direct flights to maple leaf country but possibly acrossthepond has better intel.

The clog route is a bit of island hopping - 50mins and then 1hr 30mins - and then straight across. About £1500 a ticket 😳

Actually £954 on opodo. Seems to be earliest way out not via trumpland.

occa · 13/06/2020 01:10

Ok I am in the vicinity. Flights go direct to CDG from SXM. Try Liat or Intercaribbean or winair to get to SXM. I have a friend in Anu if you need you can PM me.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/06/2020 01:15

Looks like earliest flights from maple leaf aren't until early August. Then once per week.

friskybivalves · 13/06/2020 01:17

SXM is the routing I found too. So maybe occa can identify an earlier flight. This was Win rather than Liat.

AwwDontGo · 13/06/2020 01:18

.

occa · 13/06/2020 01:28

Ok intercaribbean are also flying anu-Kingston. Both caricom so shouldn't be immigration issues. From Kingston you can fly direct to Lon. Schedule attached.

Harsh and unfair. You have absolutely no idea about my situation and whether a charter plane is within my reach

Theloftmonster · 13/06/2020 01:34

Thank you all. I'm going to research the different European options and visa restrictions. After that the island hopping

MrsFezziwig · 13/06/2020 01:35

Virgin’s website states their first direct flight from the island to London is 4th July, BA is 19th July.

occa · 13/06/2020 01:36

I could give you details of a charter company to get from anu to SXM or maybe Guadeloupe I know flights are leaving that way too. BA from ANU keep scheduling then cancelling at the moment which is pretty unhelpful.

AncientRainbowABC · 13/06/2020 02:09

OP just do say you sound dedicated and clear-headed and kind, exactly what those two need. Don’t take the rubbish about chartering a plane to heart, it’s clearly nonsense designed to rile. I hope all goes as ok as can be.

@AncientRainbowABC It was just a valid suggestion? I can certainly say that if it was me or my family, that is what I would be looking to do if I was at OP’s level of desperation. We aren’t exactly rich however would pull funds together somehow if it was really necessary.
clipclop5 · 13/06/2020 02:23

@Theloftmonster I am not being harsh or unfair, simply trying to help you out. A charter may be your only option if you need to go ASAP.

@Theloftmonster

This sounds like a good option

@Ancientrainbow

Chartering a plane from there is NOT nonsense. Nor prohibitively expensive (in normal times).

clipclop5 · 13/06/2020 02:27

@AmelieTaylor thank you for speaking sense!

sleepydragons · 13/06/2020 02:35

I hope you find one soon op.

occa · 13/06/2020 02:40

Yes chartering is how a lot of people are getting around the Caribbean from smaller islands to bigger hubs to get to the US or Europe atm because most of the island-hopper flights aren't operating.

It's actually generally a bit cheaper than usual just now because lots of people are using them and so they are flight sharing and filling the planes.

You've probably considered all of the above.

notimagain · 13/06/2020 06:47

The airline websites are shot to and a work of fiction because inbound restrictions into the Caribbean..

If you bury down deeper and look at things like actual airport departure "boards" and other sources I'm not seeing some of the options being hinted at in previous posts - there are certainly appears to be very very few non-stop Caribbean-Europe flights operating ATM.

The only options might well be the sort of routes mathanxiety has suggested.

friskybivalves · 13/06/2020 09:37

OP, on the flight radar app you can look at the local airport live departure and arrival info. Worth checking later today as there are a number of flights listed including to eg SXM. The first step may be to get away from the immediate issue and then regroup, crossing fingers that onward legs are working on June 26/27. But appreciate not easy when hotels etc are closed. Good luck with it all. Please let us know if we can help any more.

Jeremyironsnothing · 13/06/2020 09:42

These are today and tomorrow's departures

Re visas. I think baby will be fine without one. It appears that passport holders from A. &. B can travel visa free to UK and throughout Schengen.
