Misconceptions people have about you

Do you find people assumenthings about you? I get this a lot. Just silly things. Like, people assume I love stationery. I don't. I think it's useful to carry a biro but I couldn't care less what it looked like, and I haven't carried a pencil case for the past 20 years.

That I'm miserable bitch because I don't have a 'happy face' oh I'm sorry that's my face and I don't walk around like the Cheshire Cat.

SpillTheTeaa · 06/06/2020 20:43

Once they speak to me they know I'm not like that!

Poetryinaction · 06/06/2020 20:54

Yes, all my childhood people thought I was 'stuck up', when I was just shy!

Posh

vampirethriller · 06/06/2020 21:36

That I'm sweet and innocent and a bit boring.

MarkCorriganForPrimeMinister · 06/06/2020 21:46

That I’m always happy and very innocent. I have a real dark side that actually scares me sometimes and I am far from innocent. People would be very shocked if I knew what I used to get up to (nothing illegal!). I don’t really mind, they can think what they like and if anything I find it funny that most people don’t have a clue!

BearSoFair · 06/06/2020 21:48

That I'm laid back. Usually hear it from colleagues. I'm not, I'm always stressing or worrying about one thing or another but I obviously hide it well at work!

Billyjoearmstrong · 06/06/2020 21:53

That I’m thick.

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 06/06/2020 21:53

That I'm 'posh'. My husband nearly wet himself laughing when I relayed that one to him.

Clevererthanyou · 06/06/2020 21:56

That I’m a troublemaker. Oddly enough this seems to be the opinion of family members I have no contact with and whom I discovered really bad things about. My friends, neighbours and real family have no complaints at all 🤗

jokolo · 06/06/2020 21:56

That I am very disapproving of lowbrow culture.

I don't know why! But it's come up loads of times. It's very odd to me as I am a big fan of romance dramas and will watch literally anything with a spaceship in it.

bananamonkey · 06/06/2020 21:56

Posh/stuck-up because I was shy 🤷🏻‍♀️

PorpentiaScamander · 06/06/2020 21:57

Stuck up/standoffish. I'm actually insanely shy and socially awkward.

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/06/2020 22:00

That I’m taller than I am. That I’m good at scrabble.

merryhouse · 06/06/2020 22:03

When I was 30 I had a newish friend who told me she'd assumed I was an only child.

I'm the fourth of 6...

JigglypuffsCaptor · 06/06/2020 22:04

That I am of low IQ, undeployed and in receipt of a full UC claim. That I am trashy and a slag.

I'm a single mum, working full time in a rewarding job for a charity, I live in a lovely little council house and dare to have sex with a few different men 😂

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 06/06/2020 22:04

@AnneLovesGilbert I get that one. Also that I'm intimidating which I find hilarious as a petite woman

merryhouse · 06/06/2020 22:05

and like so many others, I was assumed to be standoffish because I was shy and awkward

RiftGibbon · 06/06/2020 22:06

That I am religious (Christian), that I am stuck up, and that I am very "proper".

merryhouse · 06/06/2020 22:08

My male friends at university were generally agreed that I was "scary". I am sweet and lovely (and told them so).

I've always been taken for significantly younger than I actually am (my father used to assure us we'd be glad of it one day).

LuckyLuckyWoman · 06/06/2020 22:10

That I am posh and rich

Neither of which are exactly true.

iwilltaketwoplease · 06/06/2020 22:14

My uncle always says that I'm a crank? I don't know what he means.

People often assume I'm a bitch because I don't interact with school mums but the truth is I'm just shy!

theneighbourswindchime · 06/06/2020 22:15

That I'm ok.

YgritteSnow · 06/06/2020 22:21

That I am mentally unwell. My ex H has managed to convince pretty much everyone who ever knew us both of this. It's tedious tbh. It's been going on for years 😴

AnneLovesGilbert · 06/06/2020 22:23

When I was 30 I had a newish friend who told me she'd assumed I was an only child.

I'm the fourth of 6...

I’m the oldest of 4 and apparently I scream of oldest child/big sister Grin
