..that fits exactly one sheet of standard dried lasagne? With no pasta surgery required? If so can you tell me where you bought this mythical dish?

Do I have a special lasagna dish? Yes! Does it fit standard pasta sheets? No!
I got it as part of a "special buy" lasagne set in Tesco - dolmio sauce, lasagne sheets plus a "free" dolmio lasagne dish. It's a nice dish, I use it a lot but still have to play the lasagne jigsaw game!!

Oh no mama, we are back to square one if the dolmio dish is wrong. I hope you've tried every variety of lasagne sheet on the market?

I went to Morrison’s today to get more lasagna sheets as they seemed to fit my Pyrex dish like the one @Oblomov20 posted quite nicely.
They were out of stock! Sad

Oblomov20 · 06/06/2020 12:46

Angry Blanche 😡

Oblomov20 · 06/06/2020 12:49

Faraway there's one on eBay £24.99

Nope. The pasta in this was like a Roman mosaic. Bloody lovely though, DS(14) made it.

@LadyMuck111 Please explain this to me? Slow cooked lasagne?

userxx · 06/06/2020 13:48

@iklboo That looks bloody amazing !! What else does he make?

shas19 · 06/06/2020 14:08

Le cruset baking dish! Fits 3 pasta sheets in perfectly

iklboo · 06/06/2020 14:36

@userxx - lots of stuff. He's chosen food tech as one of his options for next year

Cheese & onion quiche

DS follows a tip from Tom Kerridge. Roast the mince on a baking tray for 40 mins at gas 6, breaking it up every 10 mins. He caramelises the onions too.

I've got eyes on being mum to the next superstar chef (kidding, he enjoys cooking but we won't force him down any path he doesn't want to) Grin

PorpentiaScamander · 06/06/2020 15:03

I'm making lasagne for dinner on the back if this thread. I dont have all the ingredients for the one I usually make so it will be a bit more of the bolognese recipe that I usually use. (As an aside am I the only person who makes bolognese and lasagne with different ingredients?)

woodhill · 06/06/2020 15:04

Yes I have 2, one is a large Le Creuset and a smaller John Lewis one.

Fresh lasagne sheets seem to fit them better

Baxdream · 06/06/2020 15:05

This post made me laugh! So so true 😂

userxx · 06/06/2020 15:27

@iklboo Wow! Seriously, I'm blown away! So young and clearly talented, I wonder if he will choose that career path.

Billyjoearmstrong · 06/06/2020 15:30

No because they are never deep enough.

My lasagnes are DEEP. At least 6 layers.

I’m a pig.

@LivingThatLockdownLife jars of cheese sauce from the supermarket and dolmio for the mince. Knocks one up pretty fast. My Italian in laws do it to save time so it’s fine by me.

StCharlotte · 06/06/2020 15:36

An individual dish fitting exactly 1 sheet would be the dream, so I could make single lasagna's and freeze them and be able to reheat in the oven.. but I know I'm asking for a miracle there.

Your wish is my command...

I bought the second size down but there is an individual one too. The designer made them so they fit lasagne sheets EXACTLY without the mosaic effect. Next door neighbour has the largest one which I borrow if I've got the hoards coming over (those were the days!).

Not only functional but beautiful too.

StCharlotte · 06/06/2020 15:37

This is the little one.

iklboo · 06/06/2020 15:37

@userxx - thank you. He's really interested in cooking. He wants me to show him all my recipes plus he likes the theory side as well.

LadyMuck111 · 06/06/2020 16:32

@userxx make your lasagne the same way as you would normally but then pop it in the slow cooker instead of the oven. Add the cheese to the top 1hour to half an hour before it's ready. I usually do mine for 2-3 hours on high. It's one of my favourite slow cooker dishes the lasagne sheets go lovely and soft but on the top you still get the nice crispy bits.

Herbie0987 · 06/06/2020 16:42

I use a loaf tin

BaronessBomburst · 06/06/2020 16:45

My white china dish from Sainsbury's (mid-1990s) is exactly the right size for three sheets of Jumbo lasagne, and three layers.
Alas, Jumbo is the name of the Dutch supermarket and not a description of the pasta size. Sad

lachy · 06/06/2020 17:20

I'm so glad I made lasagna for tea tonight. I can't wait to stuff my face later.

I use a pyrex dish, not perfect but only a bit of pasta snapping needed to make the sheets fit.
