I just had some chocolate milk and it was ace Grin Ridiculously so.

What slightly childish things make you really, really happy?

Painting my hands with PVA glue, then peeling it off.

letsgomaths · 09/06/2020 19:06

As a child, I was obsessed with the Crystal Maze; I love watching the old episodes on YouTube, and I feel the childish pleasure every time I do. I really wanted to be on the show, and for some reason, I didn't care about winning - I really wanted to get locked in! As for the Crystal Maze experience in London... I've done it six times. (I read on the internet some things about the way the original show was filmed which were very disappointing - I won't share them here in case I spoil the dream for fellow lovers of the Maze, but PM me if you're interested!)

letsgomaths · 09/06/2020 20:00

With being locked in, it wasn't just the Crystal Maze - I had a weird childhood fascination with being locked up, or kidnapped; I wrote stories about it, and I really wanted it to happen, one way or another, as seemed to happen to lots of people in the Famous Five. If I was at a house with a big dog cage, I'd sometimes get inside, and hope someone would lock me in. As an adult, I was then of course careful what I wished for, but I had a moment to fulfil this when a crown court had an open day, and people were queueing up to be imprisoned in the custody van. When it was my turn, it was a few minutes of childhood excitement fulfilled!

mudskippa · 09/06/2020 20:36

@Lordfrontpaw Oh how I wish you'd been my mum. I would have eaten apples with eyes on them. Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 09/06/2020 20:47

DH finds me childish! He loves it really.

I sent packs to my sisters and we send photos to each other of ‘my apple is watching me’, ‘god these potatoes have a lot of eyes’, ‘Gotta watch your diet...’

wanderings · 10/06/2020 07:49

Following my earlier post about loving any games involving blindfolding, I now love to browse sleeping masks in shops such as Claire's Accessories, and I have a collection of them; it's fun choosing which one to wear while my DH wraps my presents. I'm a bit sad that sleeping masks weren't really a thing when I was a child; I would have demanded them in the shops!

Imissmoominmama · 10/06/2020 08:52

DH thinks I’m childish because I talk to birds. I think I’m just friendly.

paap1975 · 10/06/2020 08:55

swings
riding a bike fast down a hill
getting an ice cream from a van

Rainbowqueeen · 10/06/2020 08:57

Seeing a rainbow

Lordfrontpaw · 10/06/2020 10:20

No - a double rainbow. Then explain to anyone with earshot how rainbows ‘work’ and why it looks lighter underneath one. And moonbows. (Geek alert)

Knucklehead101 · 10/06/2020 13:00

@Imissmoominmama your DH would despair of me. I've got swallow chicks outside my front door and I sang them a song yesterday 😳

peaceanddove · 10/06/2020 13:35

I love rainbows, always have. I own several items of clothing and underwear with rainbows on and I don't care they make me look like a children's TV presenter. Leaving rude comments in the margin of any book DH is reading. Drawing a large cock and balls on a steamed up shower screen. Chasing the teens around the kitchen with a red hot teaspoon (but they're far too speedy for me). Re-reading the Moomin books and the Little Grey Rabbit books. Tickle fights with DH (I always win because I fight dirty). Pretending I don't know my own children if I answer the front door to them. Leaving cuddly toys in sexually explicit poses when I'm shopping. Hiding from the teens and then jumping out at them. Catching grapes or peanuts in my mouth.

Deathraystare · 10/06/2020 16:08

I just had some chocolate milk and it was ace grin Ridiculously so.

Agreed though I love a banana milk shake much more!

Sitting here eating Colin the Caterpillar veggie fruit sours at the moment.

But my favourite childish thing is a Mr Whippy! I prefer it to the over sweet ice cream in the shops! With a flake of course and sometimes the dribbly juice stuff or nuts!

Imissmoominmama · 10/06/2020 18:56

@peaceanddove- I re-read Moomin books too, and I have Moomin posters (framed because I’m a grown up Grin) up around the house.

Imissmoominmama · 10/06/2020 18:58

And I’ve just noticed my username Grin. I changed it a few weeks ago. We used to call my mum Moominmama.

peaceanddove · 10/06/2020 20:21

I am slowly collecting the special edition hardbacks and have just ordered a 1000 piece Moomin jigsaw. DH is a huge Mr. Ben fan and has a framed poster in his office. We're such big kids [kid]

letsgomaths · 11/06/2020 08:17

It makes me childishly happy if my nails are painted by somebody else: it feels like being little; not so much fun when I do it myself. Also if somebody else plaits my hair. Sometimes I can persuade DH to do these things for me, although he sighs when I ask him. Smile

A childhood game of mine was for my mum or sister to paint my toenails in a colour unknown to me. My eyes would be firmly tucked away until my toes were dry enough for me to put shoes or slippers on, so I couldn't see them. I'd challenge myself not to look at them, while trying to guess what colour they were, while the others smugly refused to disclose this. The excitement was palpable when I finally succumbed to the "big reveal"!

SnugglySnerd · 11/06/2020 08:20

Lego. It doesn't matter how busy I am or what I'm in the middle of, if I hear Lego being tipped out I'm there, ready to build!

mathanxiety · 11/06/2020 08:32

Watching old Clangers episodes on YouTube.
Eating an ice pop.
Skating.

Wecandothis99 · 11/06/2020 08:33

Everything that my Son loves. Animals, bubbles, lorries, bridges...Seeing the world through his eyes has turned me into a proper baby again.

SoMuchToBits · 14/06/2020 07:52

@SnugglySnerd I'm like that with Playmobil. When I was at our friend's last weekend I was itching to get out the Playmobil in the box in her garage and put it all together! Grin

Nocti · 14/06/2020 15:32

These are all brilliant. I also love flumps, the Moomins and climbing trees.

When you cut wrapping paper, and it's really smooth, and you only need to slide not cut.
