Lupins. Even the mention of them makes me snigger after a childhood with a Monty Python fan...

elliejjtiny · 05/06/2020 23:34

children's books.
fineliner pens in different colours
jelly sweets, especially fizzy ones
novelty pencil cases (I love my one that looks like a tube of pringles)

Candyflosscookie · 06/06/2020 00:21

Popping bubblewrap

That feeling when it's finally warm enough to visit the beach and feel the sand under your feet for the first time that year

Getting to burst the foil seal over a new tin of coffee with a spoon

Mashed egg in a cup with lots of butter

daisyjgrey · 06/06/2020 00:36

Can I be your friend please @SingleHandSue ?

FelicityBeedle · 06/06/2020 00:47

@iklboo You’ve got names in that screenshot, you might wanna report it to MNHQ to get shot of the picture

iklboo · 06/06/2020 00:53

@FelicityBeedle - thank you! Will do.

wanderings · 06/06/2020 08:04

Wearing these to make me feel childishly happy, usually without socks. Now you know how to spot me!

Roly polys down a steep grassy bank

Fireworks

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches

Because of lockdown my hair is long enough to put into plaits. Nobody over the age of 12 should have their hair in plaits. I'm 59 Grin

BobbinThreadbare123 · 06/06/2020 09:16

I still sort all of my sweets out into colours e.g. if I have a bag of Skittles or some Fruit Pastilles I eat them in a particular order, grouped by colour.
Eating Jaffa cakes as "full moon, half moon, total eclipse"
Stationery. Love it, got a cupboard full of it, don't need it because work provides but I buy it anyway.
Marvel films

Nocti · 06/06/2020 09:44

@SingleHandSue Love that!

Mashed egg in a cup.with butter was my poorly food as a child, it's still so good!
What about applying a thin layer of pva glue to the back of your hand to dry and peel off later? Grin

I’m a big 45 year old child..

Hiding from my dogs
Playing with my dogs
DH and I have our own language and words
Glitter
Sparkly and brightly coloured pens and pencils
Going on camping adventures with my DH and dogs
Being tucked into bed in the spare room by my DH when I need a really good, peaceful night’s sleep (the dogs sleep in our bed which is lovely but they are bed hoggers which occasionally disturbs my sleep so now and then I retreat to the spare room)
Hot chocolate overloaded with squirty cream and marshmallows
‘Penny’ sweets
Playing in snow
Climbing on stuff for fun
Going fast down a hill on my bike
Trampolining
Kicking up autumn leaves
Walking in muddy puddles in wellies
Exploring slightly creepy places like old cemeteries. We came across a large abandoned manor type house on a walk yesterday, I SO wanted to explore it but my DH said no, too sketchy!
Bubbles. I bought a giant kit for my dogs. They weren’t interested. Devastated !

My dogs feature hugely in bringing out my inner child Smile

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 06/06/2020 10:48

Percy Pigs
Fruit-scented lip balm
fairy lights

Bubble wrap
Any kiddie arts and crafts kit - pom-pom animals, fimo etc

Nix2020 · 06/06/2020 11:30

Bouncy castles. I am always first on them.
Sylvanian families always get me in the feels.

I also like when my mum makes my lunch. Oddly comforting

iklboo · 06/06/2020 11:35

Let's try again without identifying info!

Beefburger sun. My mum used to make them for me when I was little.

Pass the parcel
Swing ball
Farts
Burps
Building sandcastles on a beach.

Knucklehead101 · 06/06/2020 11:42

This is my favourite thread in the whole world ever and has made me ridiculously happy! Yes to pretty much all of these. I also love playing 'Bogies' in the supermarket with my daughters (I always win)!

weepingwillow22 · 06/06/2020 11:44

Rockpooling and paddling in sea
Marshmallows & cola bottles
My dolls house - got it down from the attic in the hope one of my sons would play with it
Bubble bath
Climbing trees

Upstartcrones · 06/06/2020 11:46

Kicking a football about
zip lines in playgrounds
theme parks
percy pigs
tents in the back garden

MellowMelly · 06/06/2020 11:48

Drinking Chocolate milkshake
Eating Coco pops, dippy eggs with soldiers or ice poles
Planting seeds (reminds me of growing cress in primary school)

letsgomaths · 06/06/2020 15:11

@Knucklehead101 What is the game of "bogies" in the supermarket?

I asked my DH what are his childish things that make him happy. He nominated Lego, roller skating, playing tunes in children's piano books, and wearing old-school plimsolls; the black elasticated ones that children wear.

SluggishSnail · 06/06/2020 15:16

Stickers! Especially glittery or shiny ones or ones with googly eyes.

Scratch and sniff even better :)

Knucklehead101 · 06/06/2020 16:02

@letsgomaths basically you have to see who is brave enough to shout 'bogies' somewhere like the supermarket. The library is best. I always win because I have NO SHAME

wanderings · 06/06/2020 16:32

I love Ladybird books from the 70s and 80s, especially if I had the same ones as a child, and I'm always scouring charity shops for them. My favourite ones are the "talkabout" ones: the beach, home, animals, gardens, holidays, bedtime; and it's fascinating to see how they've dated. Clothes/hairstyles/technology in the pictures are very noticeable.

moolady1977 · 06/06/2020 16:53

Farts and burps make me laugh , I also play bogies with my dd , playing in the snow, kicking leaves ,ice cream at the coast . I also love cuddly toys and have a bear made from my first dsf favourite cardigan who goes away on holidays or days out with us and has to take his friends as he is 17 and we are too old to be hanging out with ,so If you see a car with a bear ,a bat and a sloth fastened into the back seat it's probably me
