Settle an argument please - where does Jim live?

@NeutralJanet - genius!!

See, I always thought next door, probably to the right, but I was musing last night about how he could afford such a naice house and DH was adamant that he doesn't live next door, but in fact lives some distance away, and seemed to think that he has to cross a park with a pond to get to them! We've just re-watched the entire lot with DS over lockdown and I cannot fathom where he's got that from! Even that fount of knowledge, the Metro, says he's their next-door neighbour, but DH is having none of it.

I think next door too, but I thought to the right as you look at the house. And I agree with Drivingdownthe101 definitely inherited Grin

MayFayre · 04/06/2020 12:57

I think not next door but further down the road. If it was next door he’d pop up at the fence all the time when they’re in the garden.

MayFayre · 04/06/2020 12:58

Ds reckons opposite

Deathraystare · 04/06/2020 13:00

Imagine him being your neighbour!

ShivD · 04/06/2020 13:01

I think a few doors down, maybe 2, and you’d turn left out of their front door.

Inherited is spot on!

I spend a lot of time trying to work out the layout of their house.

vanillandhoney · 04/06/2020 13:02

The park with the pond probably comes from the Buggy episode but wasn't he just there walking Wilson?

They never say he lives next door so I assume he's a few houses down.

Fanthorpe · 04/06/2020 13:05

It was his mum and dads house, he’s always lived there, it’s exactly the same as it was when they died. I don’t know why I think that.

MorrisZapp · 04/06/2020 13:06

Was Wilson his late mother's dog?

NeutralJanet · 04/06/2020 13:08

It wasn't me who came up with that one to be fair, its a fan theory I saw over on Reddit.

AlwaysAnotherName · 04/06/2020 13:12

Next door- or at least that's my first response. I'm not sure it's ever specified, though!

BreconBeBuggered · 04/06/2020 13:15

Next door. I can't see any argument for thinking he lives anywhere else. Wilson was always wandering round for a crap. The Goodmans don't spend much time in the garden, unless they're on their way to the shed, and why would Jim pop his head over the fence if he didn't see Jackie?

Shinesweetfreedom · 04/06/2020 13:15

Next door.As you come out of the main house his is to the left

heartsonacake · 04/06/2020 13:16

He lives next door to the right (if you’re looking from their front door into the street).

dottiedodah · 04/06/2020 13:18

Fanthorpe Yes I agree .probably inherited from his family ! Love this show so funny and witty ,yet with a sprinkle of kindness thrown in as well.Apparently the writers Dad used to say "Shit on it" ,if he had an accident ! so thats Martins line as well .Super lovely house they have too.

spiderlight · 04/06/2020 13:22

I am feeling thoroughly vindicated now Grin

We've been watching all the old series from the start with DS over lockdown....we've only got one more to go and it's 'Wilson'

AnnieJ1985 · 04/06/2020 13:25

slight spoiler if you haven't watched latest series

I think it is to the left of the Goodmans if you are looking out the front door, because in episode with bag in the tree, the tree is on the right.

If that tree was directly outside Jim's house he would have appeared from there.

allfalldown47 · 04/06/2020 13:31

Opposite but slightly to the left or right, can't remember which!

smiffypeabrain · 04/06/2020 13:39

Now i imagined Jim living next door but on the left! I'm starting to itch on the inside now.

I think I need to watch the entire series again with this new perspective?

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 04/06/2020 13:46

Shalom...

Why didn't he want Wilson buried in his own garden...

Shalom...

longtompot · 04/06/2020 13:53

Poor Jim has had a hard life by the sounds of things Sad fridaynightdinner.fandom.com/wiki/Jim_Bell

I thought he lived down the road from them, but it would make more sense if he is an immediate next door neighbour. I thought he lived next door to the right, looking from their house to the road.

SoupDragon · 04/06/2020 13:53

I think he wanted Wilson buried in his favourite business spot.

stayathomegardener · 04/06/2020 13:56

Out of the Goodmans door to the left, three or four houses down, block of two up, two down/flats on the corner; second floor hence no garden for walks and burials.

Technically he's on the main road and not really the Goodmans leafy street.

Bus stop outside that he uses quite frequently.

SoupDragon · 04/06/2020 13:57

I'm gutted that we've watched them all now. Every episode had something that made me cringe and something that made me cry with laughter.

SoupDragon · 04/06/2020 13:59

DS1 is adamant Jimleves on the left of the Goodman house (if looking at the house). His friend over Xbox is adamant it is the right 😂
