Not just friends either for me but it has also highlighted lack of some relatives feelings for others who are not so secure as themselves

Sadly I feel the same. All of my older family members have spent the last 3 months banging the drum about selfish people caring more about the economy than lives when they live in big mortgage-free houses with hefty pensions.

But then yesterday I had a chat over the fence with my elderly neighbour who said "People like me should take care but people like you should be allowed to go back out to work and enjoy your lives. None of this is fair on young people". It was the first time I've heard anyone over the age of 60 say that and if it wasn't for the whole virus thing I would have given her a hug.

DominaShantotto · 04/06/2020 21:32

@Mascotte

The Dementors have won.

They have their face masks, home school
And "new normal".

I quit.

Every time they start losing they move the goalposts to make our situation seem ever more wretched. I tend to hope they're losing just in terms of the news agenda moving on and leaving them behind - but the masks has knocked me as well I'll admit.

Tempted to argue that it triggers my anxiety and uni should give me a parking permit as an adaptation for my disabilities (anxiety is on my disabled students assessment so I could swing it)

AnotherEmma · 04/06/2020 21:33

@TrustTheGeneGenie
In that case I would gently chase if I were you.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 04/06/2020 21:37

Try it, Domina, it's got to be worth a go.

Bollss · 04/06/2020 21:37

@anotheremma yes I think I will do if I dont get any documents by tomorrow. I think it's the post being crap!

AnotherEmma · 04/06/2020 21:47

You could ask them to send you an electronic copy of the offer letter?

Dowser · 04/06/2020 21:53

I’ve reached the sod it stage now.
I’m really just bored with it all
It’s just turned to a big heap of pooey pants
I’m done

Mascotte · 04/06/2020 21:53

I can't live like this though.

BakewellTarts · 04/06/2020 21:56

I can't either. I miss the family who don't live with me. I miss going out and travelling. All the things I loved about life before and that are gone now. However we have had pandemics before and life returned to normal. I expect it to again. In fact after the 1918 flu we had the roaring 20s with bright young things having lots of fun. I'm hoping for the same this time.

Bollss · 04/06/2020 21:56

@AnotherEmma yes I think I will do. It's strange that they haven't!

Mascotte · 04/06/2020 21:58

But people are such fuckwits. In the words of dementors, I despair.

Dowser · 04/06/2020 22:09

Felt dreadful yesterday
I’m prone to kidney infections and one started yesterday and I felt so dreadful I went to bed in the afternoon
Threw everything at it, homeopathy, nuked it with lots of herbal remedies and I must’ve necked a pint of colloidal silver
Feeling much, better today
The pain in left kidney has gone
The fatigue has eased
Another good nights sleep tonight and I’ll hopefully be as right as rain tomorrow

This , my friends , is far more real for me than that virus.
It’s why I can’t upset myself over it...and I’m now in sod it mode
Needed some paint for the guy coming to paint my kitchen on Saturday
Saw the queue at b and m, thought sod it and got it from the range , where there was no queue

We need to vote with our feet

The dementors got their revenge today. Am on a FB local group, the dementors were raging about visitors and keeping everything locked down and keeping the english out. Now and again I would politely say we could not go on like that forever, living in a tourist area and depending on their goodwill. Today they accused me of racism in a veiled nasty way. Oh it really took off with all the welsh nationals chipping in. I just backed off.

Willow2017 · 04/06/2020 22:11

Just discovered purely by accident that a colleague is a dementor! I am gutted, I thought that they were sensible and down to earth! Gonna have to ignore the shit they have posted next time I see them and carry on as before, its going to be hard to look at them the same way though.

Willow2017 · 04/06/2020 22:13

Today they accused me of racism in a veiled nasty way.
Did you ask them how racism = looking forward to the economy growing back in the future and people still having jobs to go to?
How dense are they?

justasking111 · 04/06/2020 22:19

Rabid socialists who expect the first minister to shake the money tree in westminster every time we run short. There are some odd bods out there who resent tourists cluttering up their roads, shops, not equating that with income.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 04/06/2020 22:38

Now we’re able to meet in person I’ve found a few kindred spirits. We’re all kind of feeling each other out and whilst I’m not nearly as blunt as I am here, I’m definitely feeling that people who are quiet are generally getting fed up with dementors and wish they’d turn it down a bit. I know I’ve said it before but consider a private letter to your local politicians about it so their post bag starts to weigh down with alternative views. I pointed out in mine the toxic atmosphere meant that I wasn’t willing to speak publicly and many others might be the same. We need to start shifting the narrative beyond social media.

I am 65 and have said this all along. I'm pretty healthy for my age and mum and dad both lived into their 90s so I'm probably around for a while yet AND still think the situation is mostly unfair on the children.

Right from the start I said if I got it I'd take my chances rather than go into ITU. I would also rather die today than end up in a care home in however many years.

Theluggage15 · 04/06/2020 22:59

Well my husband saw some great anti dementoring, I think you could call it today.

He was in a queue and got chatting to the bloke behind who said something about children not being back in school. An older lady overheard and huffily said that all the schools were going back on Monday (I’m not in U.K.) He said, ‘no only certain year groups, children have been throw under a bus during this pandemic’ She said that was nonsense and he told her that children have been treated appallingly, they have no proper education, haven’t been allowed to do all the things children normally do, they won’t have jobs in the future and those that do will be paying for years to come all so the older people can be protected at their expense.

My husband was most impressed!

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 04/06/2020 23:05

I think the tide is turning...although muting dementors on my timeline has also helped! Anyone who uses the term ‘covidiots’ or child deaths to scaremonger gets snoozed!

Shodan · 04/06/2020 23:09

I saw my elderly mother today.

She said that my brother (the Dementor one) has said that he's coming for a visit, bringing his tent and will stay in her garden.

This shocked me hugely, because he was the most vociferous of my Dementor family members.

So it leads me to hope that other Dementors will quietly switch sides at some point.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 04/06/2020 23:17

www.eurosurveillance.org/content/10.2807/1560-7917.ES.2020.25.21.2000903 This study joins the growing evidence that children don’t spread coronavirus. There were 6 cases in an Irish school, contact with 924 other children and 102 adults. No confirmed transmission. Hopefully by September the evidence base will be so strong that we’ll have proper school back!

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 04/06/2020 23:29

@Wales that's a great link, thanks. I will be emailing it to my MP tomorrow.

BogRollBOGOF · 04/06/2020 23:50

I have social arrangements in my calendar Grin
Small group fitness training on my friend/ fitness instructor's farm. I normall go to the big classes which obviously can't happen yet, but she can restore the small groups that she had already established.

I saw a small group training together in the park. Also the tape is all gone from the outdoor gym. People were using it and had even bought their own kettlebells. It was a happy sight Sad

BogRollBOGOF · 04/06/2020 23:50

Smile shouldn't be next to Sad at this time of night Grin
