Shit! Is there anything I can do? Screwed up Tesco delivery.

My fault...I accidentally sent my (£200) Tesco delivery to our old address.

It’s registering as “delivered”. My son has run around there to see if they’ve taken it all in.

If they have and choose to keep it, what if anything can I do? Tesco customer service is closed at this time of night.

Can’t believe this has happened. We have very little money for more food 😥 I am such a fucking idiot.

The van will have gps on it so it will show the shopping being delivered to the old address incase the people at the address say they hadnt received it.

HettySunshine · 02/06/2020 08:56

What a nightmare. I hope you get it sorted op.

The vans GPS might show it going to that address, but it doesn’t mean the shopping was delivered there if the householders refuse the delivery or didn’t answer the door.
Muffinandcake123 · 02/06/2020 08:58

Just read this! I wonder if OP got her delivery

CodenameVillanelle · 02/06/2020 08:58

Phone CAB and/or police non emergency number and ask what you can do

Good lord! Some people

StampMc · 02/06/2020 08:59

I I was out my kids would 100% accept an online delivery and put it away. £200 for 80 items is perfectly understandable unless it’s 80 onions. Meat, cheese, detergent, pet food, alcohol all drags it up.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/06/2020 09:01

Esspee · 02/06/2020 09:02

Any luck OP?

Thisismytimetoshine · 02/06/2020 09:03

This thread is comedy gold! (sorry, op). Like the fucking Fraud Squad would even answer the phone to this nonsense. And to advise this (at all, haha!) before advising op to ring Tesco??

WeAllHaveWings · 02/06/2020 09:05

Get. A. Grip.

She hasn’t even phoned Tesco yet.

Sorry if you read my post wrong. I was obviously suggesting she call tesco to confirm, get advice, get proof of delivery and also speak to the the old house owners first and let them know she will be taking it further.

Grips firmly in place, But if tesco cannot help, and old house owner will not release the goods then I dont think phoning the police for advice/an incident number for small claims is inappropriate. The old house owner has effectively stolen her property.

Notredamn · 02/06/2020 09:05

😬

LoudBatPerson · 02/06/2020 09:05

As the OP hasn't returned to this thread I am guessing they have spoken to Tesco and the order was returned undelivered.

In which case the OP owes the people at the other address a huge apology for disturbing them twice at a pretty unsociable hour.

Whywhywhynow · 02/06/2020 09:07

I honestly don’t think the people will have accepted the order. OP, I hope you’ve calmed down now and get this sorted.

Sparklyring · 02/06/2020 09:08

£200 for 80 items is easily doable! Hope you get sorted OP.

PatricksRum · 02/06/2020 09:08

Shit on it Shock
Hope you get it back

SaltedCaramelEverything · 02/06/2020 09:09

Fingers crossed for you OP! Hope you’re not updating as you’re busy unpacking it Smile

TinySleepThief · 02/06/2020 09:10

I also think this is what has happened. Hopefully even if the OP doesn't come back this thread might lead some of those who posted to reconsider why it's n9t a good idea to automatically jump to the worst case scenario without gathering all the facts.

The neighbours absolutely deserve a huge apologym

lanthanum · 02/06/2020 09:12

Hmm. Suppose a delivery turns up at my house which isn't for me.

If I turn it away, the delivery person won't know where it should have gone, so it will presumably all go back to base, and perishable items may well be thrown out (I don't know what the rules are). The people who were meant to get it probably won't be able to get another delivery slot fo a week.

If I accept it, then maybe I can find out which neighbour it was meant for, and they might get it today.

I don't know what the refund rules are, but it seems unlikely that the supermarket would refund if they were unable to deliver to the address given by the customer.

So I think if I were the recipient, I would accept it, and bung something on the village Facebook group saying "Does anyone know PinkMeringue? I've got her shopping."

Pop a note through their door with your telephone number on it, apologising for your mistake, asking when would be convenient for you to pick it up, and perhaps suggesting they keep the bottle of wine, or something like that. Hopefully that will get a positive response.

icedancerlenny · 02/06/2020 09:13

I’m most amazed you managed to spend £200 with an 80 item limit!

DarkDarkNight · 02/06/2020 09:14

Oh God, the Son Knocking on the old address so late at night Shock. I’m not one of those people you only hear about on Mumsnet who never answer their door unless they’re expecting people but even I wouldn’t like to open my door at that time of night.

Hopefully it will just be a system thing which says delivered and it’s actually gone back to the depot.

Katinski · 02/06/2020 09:15

All the best, OP, and fingers tightly crossed for a replacement delivery today at no extra cost to you.Smile
btw, I had a mistaken delivery from Iceland 2 weeks ago, didn't know until I unpacked my order. A couple of thick filled pizzas and a 1.5gk bag of potatoes. Phoned Iceland, who told me to keep them, as they're food and couldn't be returned. . Could well be that someone's hit the jackpot with yours.
Hey!Does anyone else tip their delivery bloke?

jetsetter87 · 02/06/2020 09:15

Ah I hope the people just turned the driver away
Last week a delivery from a well known fashion retailer arrived at my door. I held it for a minute confused as I never order from there then read the label it was for the woman who moved out 18months who
I shouted on the delivery driver and just said she had moved and that was that
I really hope they contacted her and told her or just her a refund anyway I am glad she didn’t come hammering in my door when I didn’t even have her parcel

WindsorBlues · 02/06/2020 09:15

I'm another who is amazed you manged to spend £200 on an 80 limit. I'd actually cry if I lost £200 this way.
