I couldn't be more BORED with losing weight.

Seriously, I'm so over it now.

Started back in February with a quite depressing 63lbs to lose. Yep, 63 bloody lbs.

On the plus side, I've managed to lose 33 of those lbs. but I've still got 30 to go. And I'm just bored of it all now.

I'm attempting a spot of visualisation so I've filled a jar with 30 glass pebbles and I'll transfer them one by one into another jar as I lose them. If I lose them. Motivation is a bit low today when I think about how far I still have to go

For the record, I eat about 1400 calories a day and walk 15,000 steps a day. The old adage of 'way less and move more' actually works - just wish it didn't take so long

Any other tips for motivating myself?

Yep. There's 30 little pebbles in there.

I couldn't be more BORED with losing weight.

*eat less not way less!

Seriously, losing that much weight in such a short space of time is amazing! You're already over halfway through. Genuinely impressed.

I have 30lbs to lose (starting tomorrow is my mantra 🙄) but am definitely going to steal the visualisation idea.

Downloaded my fitness pal today but like you, find losing weight so so boring that I never actually get very far.

Best of luck @BarbiesWorld ! I'm sure you'll do it.

I tried everything in the past and the only thing that has worked this time is good old fashioned calorie counting and walking about 7 miles a day.

Yes, please do take the pebble jar idea! It's something to focus on I suppose!

It's just hard when you still feel and look so overweight so god alone knows what I looked like nearly 2 and a half stone heavier. We've recently had some security cameras fitted out the front and back and i keep watching myself back on them (from when I pop in and out) and it makes me wince a bit as they're NOT flattering

OP posts:
elbanabanana · 31/05/2020 17:31

Do you need to lose it? Could you just focus instead on accepting yourself the way you are?

UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:33

@elbanabanana alas, yes. I'm still significantly overweight and losing 30lbs puts me at the top end of normal.

I started at 15 stone and I'm now 12 stone 8 ish. I am not tall! So I need to be 10 stone something to be a normal - of slightly high end! - weight.

No accepting myself just yet sadly

OP posts:
elbanabanana · 31/05/2020 17:38

Normal is in the eye of the beholder though. Maybe you're fine just as you are.

UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:40

I'm all for overweight women accepting themselves if that's what they want to do. But I don't want to accept myself at 30lbs overweight as it's not healthy to do so.

But I appreciate your viewpoint.

myfuckingfreezer · 31/05/2020 17:42

I hear you OP. I started out 2020 with 60-82 pounds to loose. 62 will take me to the top end of healthy bmi, 82 to the middle.

I've lost 50 of those pounds so far! But yes I just want to be able to eat a piece of cake or not plan my calories in advance.

But also have to be realistic that I can't just stop caring once it's over. Likely I'll have to move onto a maintenance diet and still watch what I eat till I get a handle on the emotional responses and desires!

elbanabanana · 31/05/2020 17:43

The idea of women rewarding themselves like children with pebble jars etc is infinitely more depressing to me than the idea of women living reasonably healthy lifestyles, enjoying treats in moderation and accepting themselves whatever size they might be

Bluewavescrashing · 31/05/2020 17:44

Well done OP. Can you build in a few little treats? Some exotic fruit, a posh salad from M&S, a good steak if you eat meat?

UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:48

@elbanabanana good for you. Now.. bore off

OP posts:
UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:49

@myfuckingfreezer wow you've done brilliantly! I hear you on the diet fatigue though

OP posts:
UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:49

@Bluewavescrashing excellent idea and something I do. M & S food bill is shocking Grin

What you need is a day off, have a day off and eat exactly what you want. All day. Then get back on it the next day

BarbiesWorld · 31/05/2020 17:52

I feel you on seeing yourself on camera. It's the most depressing thing.

How do you stop yourself snacking? It's my downfall, especially during the witching hour cluster feeds.

UrbanDoughnut · 31/05/2020 17:57

@BarbiesWorld I snack a lot! What I do though is eat between 12pm and 6pm ish. I'm not consciously doing some 16:8 whatever thing though - just eating during the times that suit me. So in this little eating window I can consume quite a lot! A typical day for me is ...

Bran flakes with fruit and yogurt OR porridge or berries and Greek yogurt

Lunch is rice cakes with cheese and salad or a roasted veg wrap with quorn or maybe some tofu and stir fry

Dinner is veg, cous cous, salad or home made pizza. It varies

And on top of that lot, I eat a lot of ice lollies, protein bars for a sweet hit, fruit crisps, jelly, the odd baby bel or piece of cheese or crudités with peanut butter.

I just count up to about 1400 cals and then stop. Once a week I might eat about 1800 cals

OP posts:
BarbiesWorld · 31/05/2020 18:27

That's actually a really good idea, in the past I've had my daily calorie allowance and used it for meals but spreading it right out to include the snacks I'll inevitably have is a stroke of genius!

BarbiesWorld · 31/05/2020 18:27

Sorry I'm just stealing all of your weight loss ideas Grin

ScrapThatThen · 31/05/2020 18:28

Look how far you have come. Needs to not be boring to be sustainable though - more variety? Change up the exercise? Looks like you have got the right recipe but you need to actually enjoy it more.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 31/05/2020 18:32

I have about 3 stone to lose. I've started logging everything with MFP this week and truthfully I'm already bored. I've had to face the fact that I actively enjoy eating high calorie foods. What has caused my shift in attitude is that I've found a workout program I really like and I want to be lighter so I can work out more effectively. Fingers crossed for both of us.

whensmynexthol1day · 31/05/2020 18:47

This may not be a popular opinion but how quickly are you losing? You could try the Michael Moseley fast 800 diet and maybe lose the last bit a bit quicker? I know I often give up dieting because it takes so bloody long but I'm on track to lose 2 stone in 3 months with one more to go and I feel like that's a manageable time frame.
When I've dieted before I've done 1200 calories and was always starving so thought I'd really struggle on 800 but actually it's fine as you combine it with low carb and higher fats which keeps you feeling much fuller. I also combine it with 16:8 which you've already cracked! So just spread those 800 kcal over two meals.
There's a thread of us on the 5:2/ fasting board if you want to join us!

NellMangel · 31/05/2020 18:57

She's not rewarding herself with pebbles @elbanabanana. It's a visual reminder of weight lost, a motivational tool. BMI is an indicator of health, not something dreamed up on catwalks.

OP I agree the journey is fucking boring. Most planning in life is. I guess you'll thank yourself later. Well done so far.

Justjoshin22 · 31/05/2020 19:08

What @ScrapThatThen said! You need a bit of variety or you’ll just get even more bored and then give up. Needs to be a part of your lifestyle or once you lose the remaining weight you’ll be at more chance of reverting.
How about spending an hour doing some meal planning and trying some new foods out? Or another form of exercise, cycling maybe or jogging?
Motivation... pics that document your progress? Or book something with friends for a few months time so you have a date to look ahead to? Buy some lovely clothes in a smaller size...
@Waitingforboristoletusfree also has a point, if you think you can get back on it the next day, have a day off and just don’t think about it.
Good luck!

3LittleMonkeyz · 31/05/2020 19:09

I've got 5 stone to lose and stayed the same weight since Christmas despite doing my best to diet. Losing 33lbs is amazing!
