I know just been reading it Orangeblossom, lump in my throat.

Dowser · 01/06/2020 18:23

Exactly wales, it’s why we lived it
Within the bounds of what we could do.

Orangeblossom78 · 01/06/2020 18:27

So glad to hear the first day went well for so many. It reminded me of having previously been a teacher of small children (R/Yr1) how they quite like rules and structure and helping each other line up and stuff.

Glad to hear it was so different from the dementory stories we had heard.

Dowser · 01/06/2020 18:30

Quote
I find it a bit offensive that the government are telling us who we can have sex with to be honest.

It is just disgusting.
They’ve overstepped a line with that one
It almost feels like the government, instead of trying to broker good will, keep push, push pushing to see how much compliance they can get from us.

Definitely smacks of big brotherism
Are they hoping the curtain twitchers will report them
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone..keeps coming back to me time and time again

I hope someone makes a stand for freedom

This must be going against human rights
I hope the human rights lawyers are all over it like a rash.

The numbers are down. The panic is over. Italian doctors say th Covid is weakening. Been in town today
Situation normal , apart from not enough shops open
Never saw one mask

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 01/06/2020 18:31

@dowser - I’m glad. After our life changing incident we have had to change things, but also seized life more. It left cracks that I’m surprised people can’t see but it made me more confident and able to cope with uncertainty. I’m stronger and weaker as a result and maybe that’s why I’m impatient with all this. Surely it’s not the worst people have faced?

DominaShantotto · 01/06/2020 18:37
Nice thread

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3926188-First-day-back-at-school-how-was-it
Oh don't worry - someone's popped on to remind us the schools were closed because of DEATH VIRUSES and that that is the MOST IMPORTANT THING.

Can't have people sharing tales of joy and children actually being happy can we? There's a pandemic on don't you know? Death congas and beaches of bodies and everything.

Dowser · 01/06/2020 18:38

I’ve had some really good goes on the town fb about the fun police.
Don’t let’s forget , it’s only a couple of months ago that the fun police were checking people’s shopping for Easter eggs.

Yes our children were chucked u dear a bus alright and some of the public were quite happy to help them.

Dowser · 01/06/2020 18:42

Wales
It’s not the worst thing I’ve faced by any stretch of the imagination.
Some of the shit I’ve had thrown at me in my lifetime is a 10+

this has been like a holiday in comparison

This is why I haven’t been able to get on board with it,

having had real shit to deal with many times, I wasn’t going to upset myself over shit that might never happen and it hasn’t...and it won’t.

DominaShantotto · 01/06/2020 18:42

There are other threads on here where people have tried to raise the impact on kids and they just get shot down in flames constantly by the MN arseholes. Mind you MN let a post wishing coronavirus on some people's children stand for most of the day before getting round to actually looking at it (no idea if it's been pulled or not) so there are a lot on here who are sheer scum in the way they view children.

MinesaPinot · 01/06/2020 18:42

Dowser I agree I'm absolutely appalled by this. I've been increasingly worried about my 83 year old mum's MH and said to DH last week that I'm going to have her over to us overnight soon. If anyone thinks they're going to going to tackle me on this and tell me it's illegal they'd better be ready for a fight Angry.

I've understood all the rules and stood by them but this is just outrageous. I'm not living in some sort of dictator state.

Jourdain11 · 01/06/2020 18:42

I just spoke to my DC and they all seem to have had a great day! DD2 made a "new friend" in Y3 (the girl is actually in DD1's class, but they don't know each other that well). DD1 was over the moon because the teacher gave her some extra work Hmm and her best friend was in her bubble. DS just said "fun, fun, fun, fun!" but he seemed happy, lol.

Waleshasgonecompletelycrazy · 01/06/2020 18:48

Back to school sounds lovely. So pleased it’s gone well (although please forgive the twinge of jealousy). It was so lovely to hear my dd laugh with her friend, I’m hoping others will be over too but it’s hard to know who to ask!

I massively fell out with a GP and a teacher (both ex FB friends who I had considered friends IRL) who happily called kids "little disease factories". WTAF?? Even joking? If I referred to my clients "villains" in a public forum I'd be out on my arse.

I get the concerns, but don't they see the "no blacks, no dogs, no Irish" parallels with the language and attitudes they're using towards children and young people?

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 01/06/2020 18:50

The dementors must be positively gleeful about the sex thing. I can just imagine them now, their sweaty ear pressed to a glass up against next door's wall listening eagerly for any signs of sexual activity so they can immediately report to the police!

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 01/06/2020 18:51

Yes and the irony is- its the same posters who spout vile stuff like that about kids who then accuse others of being discriminatory towards the elderly!! they dont seem to realise that ageism works both ways. Bloody hypocrites.

Bollss · 01/06/2020 18:56

Well our council has released another letter saying not to open schools. Admits deaths are falling. But "we don't know what the release of measures might bring"

Well considering schools aren't allowed to open not fucking much has changed so what they are expecting to fucking well happen Angry

And again not one sentence about the welfare of children.

I am disgusted. Horrible horrible wankers.

TeacupDrama · 01/06/2020 18:56

@thatgingergirl where do you get that gin?? sounds like I need it

As I mentioned on the other thread, according to a police friend of mine all calls will be logged but the chances of following them up will be...in his words ..."nil to fuck all".
TeacupDrama · 01/06/2020 18:57

I do not think the Tories are so stupid as to deliberately kill off those that vote for them as over the age of 40 the percentage that vote Tory is higher than labour the reverse being true under 40

Dowser · 01/06/2020 18:58

Pinot..just go and get her..
I’d never let anything or anyone get between me and my mum
She’d have killed for me and me for her.

Dowser · 01/06/2020 19:01

I had to take on a tenant who was menacing me.
I told the police that my life was under threat, would they patrol the street at the time they were coming
Would they fuck
So my son came with me...and had his mates waiting in the next street.
This is what people do when they cannot rely on law and order.

Khione · 01/06/2020 19:04

If I had a partner he would definitely be visiting - unless he was a dementor and I wouldn't have a partner then.

My son needed to work from home but doesn't have a strong enough broadband signal so, rather than be furloughed, he is using my spare bedroom, which has its own bathroom. He comes in in the morning and leaves at tea time.

If I go out murdering grannies, I use a different door so I don't come into contact with anything that he touches at all.

I never even see him. (He shouts 'Hello') Technically this is illegal but I don't give a stuff.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 01/06/2020 19:07

Yup- but you can imagine the threads that will pop up on here:

"AIBU?- I can hear grunting and sex noises from next door. They dont live together and PEOPLE ARE DYING, they are clearly putting my life in danger by having sex.
AIBU to call the police?"

LOL

AgentCooper · 01/06/2020 19:07

Yet another fallout from not being allowed to hug my partner, and draw strength from him when feeling low

@Shodan virtual hug from me though it is emphatically not the same. Years, decades of attachment theory have shown the importance of loving touch to make us feel well and safe. Even dementors can’t argue with that. Though they will, of course.

It makes me so sad for societies where being tactile is just part of everyday life. I know not everyone likes kissing cheeks etc and that’s totally fine but I wonder what the social fallout of this is going to be in countries like Italy. I work in the modern languages office at a uni and we’re quite a kissy bunch! And I love it.
