Me and my partner have loved the name Hope for years, I have found out I’m pregnant with a little girl. Now it is getting closer I can’t stop myself thinking about what nicknames she may have or what kids may pick on.
What if everyone calls her hopeless or no hope. What are your thoughts ?? HELPPPP X

Hope is one of the main character in major video game series. Anyone who plays them wouldn't name the child Hope, but guess gamers are minority. Grin

Personally, I love the name Hope. Such a lovey name. And I don't think she will get nasty nicknames, Hope is short enough.

I wouldn't use it personally, because I don't the sound of it. I don't think it invites teasing though. Although it's not very common there are plenty of them around. Its not a shockingly unusual name. If you're unsure how about using it as a middle name or hype hypenating it. e g Olivia-Hope.

Beautiful name.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 29/05/2020 19:58

I know of 2 in our tiny village. Both have reason to call their children Hope.

picklemewalnuts · 29/05/2020 20:01

I haven't met a baby Hope, but there's no reason it would bring teasing.

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2020 20:03

I like it. Anyone remember 'Thirtysomething' the TV show? Hope was one of the main characters.

Lucked · 29/05/2020 20:08

Yes I really like. There was a character called hope in Thirtysomething and I have always liked the name.

Lucked · 29/05/2020 20:09

Oops cross post about Thirtysomething

It's a great name!

TARSCOUT · 29/05/2020 20:12

I think it's a lovely name. Always one of my favourites. All our names were chosen so that nicknames weren't really possible. Out of 4 only one has the name shortened(eldest).

CaptainMyCaptain · 29/05/2020 20:14

I have a friend who called her baby Hope. Its a lovely name.

I love this name.

peajotter · 29/05/2020 20:23

I know one. Love the name.

Imo it does tend to be used by parents who have lost a child or struggled to conceive. Not that everyone assumes that but you may get a question from some folk.

disorganisedsecretsquirrel · 29/05/2020 20:24

I also know a 27 yr old Hope. She is fabulous.

Go for it
