What talent do you really wish you had?

I would really, REALLY love to be able to sing. I wail along to songs on the radio and would love to actually sound amazing whilst doing so.

I don't have an awful voice (school choirs/shows etc) but just not good enough to get lead parts or have any wow factor. Would also love to do karaoke but knowing I'm not a great singer I wouldn't have the confidence.

What talent would you really have loved but didn't get?

To be confident enough to not give a shit what anybody thought of me.

Then, I know I'd be the best at everything👍🤣

nitgel · 29/05/2020 12:56

to play the piano or guitar really well, i had lessons but never got far

BorisTheBellend · 29/05/2020 12:58

Playing the piano would definitely be 2nd on my list @nitgel. In fact if I could sign and play the piano I'd be bloody happy.

*Sing! not sign.

I’d love to be able to dance, or have some kind of rhythm

Peachypips78 · 29/05/2020 13:05

I want to be able to sew well enough to make it a career. I can see well- just not at the level to have it as my job.

Maybe we should all pursue the talents we wish we had? Have singing and piano lessons, go back to college to learn new things...

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/05/2020 13:07

Dancing. I wish I could dance, I have absolutely no rhythm. I look like a robot when I dance.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 29/05/2020 13:12

I wish I was a natural at picking up languages. In fact, I'd like that as my superpower.

Greenteandchives · 29/05/2020 13:33

Like the OP I really wish I could sing. I’m in a choir that doesn’t audition, so I can get away without being able to hit some of the high notes, but I’d love to be in a ‘proper’ choral group.
I miss choir so much. We worked so hard on some lovely pieces for our summer concert.

merryhouse · 29/05/2020 13:38

I'd like to be able to draw. I can't seem to get the message from my eyes to my hands.

(and yes, I know all about perspective. I can draw buildings really well...)

Lostvoiced · 29/05/2020 13:40

I've been drawing and learning watercolour in lockdown, when the baby is sleeping.

But really I wish I was more handy with everything, knitting, sewing, gardening. I wish I could be really self sufficient!

I tried to sew a seam once and it looked like a big Frankenstein mess.

Cocolapew · 29/05/2020 13:41

Play the piano and whistle.

Pipandmum · 29/05/2020 13:42

Sing too. My mother had a lovely voice but none of her kids inherited it! I still sing but make sure no one can hear me!

BearSoFair · 29/05/2020 13:42

Play the guitar. Both DH and DS1 are very good, both have tried to teach me but I just can't hold chords properly. I can play ukulele though!

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/05/2020 13:45

Maths.

weepingwillow22 · 29/05/2020 13:50

A really good memory would be great. I would love to be able to readily recall things.

dayswithaY · 29/05/2020 13:51

I would love to have nimble fingers that can do any crafting or DIY - sewing, knitting, crochet, sketching. I'd like to be able to fix things and build things with hammer and nails, some people are just naturally dextrous with a technical mind. My hands are clumsy like I'm wearing boxing gloves and my brain can't function that way. I am good at spelling and that's about it.

BorisTheBellend · 29/05/2020 13:54

Dancing is another one I'd love to master. I'm ok at drunken moves even thinking I'm beyonce if the right song comes on and was asked to join a sleazy dance group when I was younger as they thought I was good but maybe I just drink enough to not give a fuck and let loose!

Same as you, OP, sing! I watch countless singing auditions on YouTube for my fix, wishing I could sound like they do. I would also love to be amazing at playing the guitar and piano. Although these talents can be learnt to an extent, I really believe that those that are amazing have a natural gift that cannot be replicated, however hard you try.

Sadly, I have no talents whatsoever so it will never be 😢

FatherWindyShepherdHenderson · 29/05/2020 14:19

Have you seen Alejandro Aranda’s American Idol audition, OP? He is the perfect example of someone who, when he taught himself to sing, play the guitar and piano, discovered he had a natural gift. The sounds he makes on his guitar sends chills up my spine!

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 29/05/2020 14:23

To be able to draw /paint and play the Piano. Also to speak other languages, I tried, I'm terrible. Oh and to sing brilliantly. I'll settle for drawing Grin

CigarsofthePharoahs · 29/05/2020 14:30

Coding. I'd love to be an expert at coding. A particular computer game I like has been abandoned by the developer and I'd love to be able to code my own mods to add to it...
Heck, I'm gonna get some learning to code info.

SuperSharpShooter · 29/05/2020 14:32

I can dance and sing. But I dream of playing the piano and surfing. Not at the same time mind!
I could probably get somewhere with the piano, but reckon I’m passed learning to surf now :(

SuperSharpShooter · 29/05/2020 14:35

A lot of wannabe piano players here. Imagine forming a beginners piano orchestra- that would make a hell of a racket!
