YES

Whether you agree with abortion or not, it's disgusting behaviour

@Tryingtoslim. Just to correct you though- we aren't in lockdown to protect the vulnerable, we are in lockdown to protect the NHS's capacity for everyone!

NuffSaidSam · 23/05/2020 17:39

Absolutely 100%

maddy68 · 23/05/2020 17:40

No. I believe a fundamental right of a free country is to be able to protest

Gets the popcorn out to watch posters respond to maddy68

mbosnz · 23/05/2020 17:44

Definitely. There's no fundamental right as to where you can protest.

Samtsirch · 23/05/2020 17:44

Protest, yes.
Hassle and victimise, no.

SellFridges · 23/05/2020 17:44

Yes. There is a BPAS clinic on our road and every lent there is a “silent vigil” outside the doors. They stand very close to the entrance so that anyone attending has to pass them, and they frequently hand out leaflets to the women arriving. It was a particular problem this year as Covid kicked off and they were blocking the path. They only withdrew when full lockdown commenced.

They are selfish, ignorant, and rude. I respect their right to protest and even speak out against abortion. They have no reason to hold their vigil outside the clinic and distress and harass women who they have NO IDEA about.

AlwaysAnEmptySpace · 23/05/2020 17:45

Very good point re vasectomy clinics - maybe it's because they think a man might react.

I don’t think that’s the same at all.

For a man having a vasectomy no baby exists, they’re preventing pregnancy not terminating an existing one. Or do protestors, protest against women being sterilised? Again this is preventing pregnancy not terminating an existing one. Also men’s vasectomys and women’s sterilisations take place at a regular hospital surely, no one would know that a man or woman attending a regular hospital was going in for a vasectomy or to be sterilised so that would also be an explanation as to why there are no protestors surely.

AtopAHighHill · 23/05/2020 17:48

No certainly not.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/05/2020 17:48

Many in the States protest against contraception being free/cheap, terminations being available and benefits being provided. While being pro-death penalty. I struggle to see how it's not really obvious misogyny.

I was talking about UK. I’m aware of the very behind the times views in some states in the US.

Whataloadofshite · 23/05/2020 17:56

YES. 100@%

TrickyKid · 23/05/2020 17:57

Yes. It's harassment.

bengalcat · 23/05/2020 17:58

I would yes .

AlwaysAnEmptySpace · 23/05/2020 17:59

I agree. But not directly outside of a clinic where a woman is going for a legal procedure. It’s crazy that it’s allowed.

RedDiamond · 23/05/2020 18:01

Yes.

Experimenopause · 23/05/2020 18:02

Yes

Protest at parliment, don't interfere with and harass individual women. People who disagree with same sex marriage wouldn't expect to be able to protest outside a registry office on someone's wedding day, would they?

JackiFazaki · 23/05/2020 18:04

Yes
Harassing women is not a "right" to be exercised.

Soubriquet · 23/05/2020 18:04

Why wouldn’t you support this?

It’s awful that people are allowed to do it in the first place

Soulstirring · 23/05/2020 18:05

Completely

sawollya · 23/05/2020 18:05

Yes.

drspouse · 23/05/2020 18:08

Yes, 100%. The general hospital here carries out, or assesses, not sure which, terminations. It's also got the EPU, gynae ward etc. I lost a pregnancy there and then had to go past on my way to work with their demos and graphic posters. Totally insensitivity both to those who choose not to continue their pregnancy and those who suffer loss in another way.
