Yes - I should be drinking Ksara in a lovely restaurant in Byblos! Oh well maybe next year!

Crunchymum · 22/05/2020 22:01

Should be day 2 in Turkey right now (yep was going to take the kids out for a few days).

BikeRunSki · 22/05/2020 22:05

Easter trip abroad/20th wedding anniversary trip abroad cancelled.
We’re not going to pay the balance on our summer holiday, and sacrifice the deposit.
No weekend trips to see my mum
(6 hours away)

sanityisamyth · 22/05/2020 22:07

I've never had a holiday. This year was no different.

40somethingJBJ · 22/05/2020 22:08

I’m waiting on Butlins cancelling in July as I can’t see it going ahead and, to be honest, I’m not keep on going anyway. We have a eurocamp holiday booked at the end of August which I’ve not booked the ferry for yet, and not sure whether I’d want to go there either. I’ll be happy if we can just go away in our touring caravan a bit over summer.

MoaningMinniee · 22/05/2020 22:08

I hadn't booked a specific destination, but when I was looking at the diary for next week because one of my very few remaining clients wanted to check her dog in for a walk, I saw that I'd blocked the week out as HOLIDAY!!! In purple ink with a happy smiley face. I looked, and remembered how we'd made the plan all together over Christmas when all the the children and their beloveds had been home together. We'd achieved agreeing the dates, and left the argument about destination - whether it should be Seville, Ireland, Italy or Germany for a vote during the Easter holidays.

TheAlphaandtheOmega · 22/05/2020 22:12

Cancelled our holiday in Austria in July and lost deposit, hoping to go away in our touring caravan in July, August and October, hopefully at least one of these will happen. Was wanting to go to Iceland probably early next year but don’t want to fly anywhere now so won’t book that. Looks like just going away in caravan for next couple of years or so

TreacherousPissFlap · 22/05/2020 22:14

One holiday next month cancelled, DS's expedition cancelled and it looks like our contingency holiday in August is also looking shaky.
I'm desperate to do a sled dog holiday in January (and have the money here due to previous cancellations) but I don't think I can bear another disappointment

teenagetantrums · 22/05/2020 22:18

We thankfully had a week in canaries in march. July holiday at a holiday park cancelled. We were planning a trip to either Spain or Italy in September. That's not going to happen. I'm hoping next march we will get a week in sun again.

butteredbarmbrack · 22/05/2020 22:27

We were due to go to Japan in July, wanted to be there for the Olympics. We booked through someone we used for a trip to Florida a couple of years ago who is with Travel Counsellors. She's already managed to confirm all the travel and accommodation within Japan can be moved to 2021. We're holding tight on flights at the moment, as they are in theory still scheduled, but expect they'll be pulled anyway and then we can rearrange. If not, we hope that travel insurance should cover it.

We were also meant to go to N Ireland in April to see my parents so that didn't happen. I need to chase again on the voucher from that - we were happy enough with a voucher as we will want to fly to Belfast again. In fact that's a possibility for the summer now instead of Japan, if lockdown situation permits come July.

LongPauseNoReply · 22/05/2020 22:27

One cancelled and the other on the Côte d'Azur in mid July should be safe. We live in France and at the moment we're only allowed to travel 100km from home. We're on the border with Switzerland at Geneva so the coast is 400km from here. If that's lifted by July we should be ok!!

SpaceCadet4000 · 22/05/2020 22:32

We had 2 planned. We were going to visit the UK (as we live in the US) to see family in Autumn. In August we were hoping to go to Canada for our 5th wedding anniversary. Both likely off the table, and honestly not sure when I will get to see my family again.

Drogonssmile · 22/05/2020 22:37

We're meant to be paying the balance of a two week villa holiday in Portugal in August at the end of this month. Hoping we can defer it to next year. Can't go even if we were allowed as my dad has Parkinson's and therefore more vulnerable than the average healthy person.

TeenTraumaTrials · 22/05/2020 22:44

Easter hol to Orlando was rebooked to Oct in early March but as Youneverknow said even if we can go I'm not sure we want to as it was supposed to be the family holiday of a lifetime and having to wear a mask all day will be horrible. We might end up losing 1000s if we can go but decide not to.

Kids have both missed school trips abroad.

Week in Spain in July clearly not happening so will wait for voucher for flight. Might try for a week away at Christmas time

Center Parcs in Sept I'm hopeful for even if activities aren't open.

We did get a week away in February last minute which I'm so thankful for.

Holidays are what we save for and look forward to so it's all pretty shit.

Chocachocaholic · 23/05/2020 09:55

We cancelled - meant to be going in a villa in August but even tho flights not cancelled (we hadn't booked them yet anyway when this started) we made the decision to cancel as we just don't feel it will be safe enough and worth the risk even if some flights resume.
We will go next year. Instead this year we are going to use that money to do some work around the house and garden which we wouldn't have been able to afford to do otherwise.

Oldraver · 23/05/2020 10:03

We have a cottage in the New Forest still booked for the end of July . They have delayed when they will take the money so will review it before then

If restrictions are lifted we will go. The company as my have said you can change to next year though we won't know Shift pattern till September and if it doesn't fit not sure if we could change again

Pippapotomus · 23/05/2020 11:56

Our boat on the Norfolk Broads over Easter
was cancelled, they were offering a refund or rebooking. I've booked for next year.

We were going to the south of France with eurocamp in August, they are doing free transfers to 2021,so were doing the same but next year now.

I had the eurotunnel booked separately, so need to find out if that's transferable or if we could squeeze in a trip to Belgium to use it up.

twostripycats · 24/05/2020 16:39

What do people think about April 2021? I know some will have probably rescheduled already to then but do you think it’s safe enough to book a whole new trip?

WhenDoISleep · 24/05/2020 16:54

Normally I book our main summer holiday the previous September/October - for the first time in years I hadn't done so, for various reasons relating to DS1 starting high school plus not being sure of Scout & Cub summer camp dates. We also normally have a couple of long weekends booked and I hadn't done that either - obviously I am extremely thankful now that we don't have the stress and uncertainty of things being cancelled and trying to sort out refunds. We are basically writing off this year in terms of holidays and tentatively thinking about what we might do next year - although I really do hope to at least get a few days away in the summer to visit my parents (assuming we are allowed to by then of course).

AnyFucker · 24/05/2020 16:57

From all to nothing, of course Sad

Two foreign holidays not going ahead and not able to travel to our holiday place in the UK

I am desperate to get away, tbh

Titsywoo · 24/05/2020 17:01

We've moved it to next year (August). We've been charged extra for the increase in cost (obviously places put their prices up each year) which I'm not very happy about. Currently waiting to see if our flights will be cancelled - if they aren't I'll have to swallow the cost and pay for new flights next year. I had no choice as the size of bungalow at the holiday park was already nearly sold out for next year and since the chances are high that going this year will be impossible/a nightmare it was the sensible choice.

TreacherousPissFlap · 24/05/2020 17:01

Agree anyfucker , it's not having anything concrete to look forward to (however distant)

Titsywoo · 24/05/2020 17:02

Oh should have said the holiday park wouldn't refund and would only give credit to be used by 31st Dec 2021 so I couldn't even cancel without losing more money.

MadisonAvenue · 24/05/2020 17:04

Cancelled and waiting for a refund. We would’ve been in LA this week Sad

TheOnlyMrsW · 24/05/2020 17:08

Easter trip to London to see a band which was DD's Christmas cancelled and refunded. We should be in Tenerife at the moment with parents and DD - booked specifically for unlimited access to Siam park which was cancelled and refunded, Jet2 were fab and didn't quibble at all. July trip to France cancelled and waiting refund on flights from Ryanair, it was offered without having to ask which I was surprised about. Just looking at a week away in the UK in August via Airbnb.............haven't booked yet but everything crossed we could get a break somewhere. I'm obviously aware that we're lucky to have these booked in the first place and not out of pocket from the cancellations
