I was really lucky, went to Japan for Christmas/New Year (DS was living there at the time so went to see him). Paris in January for DD's birthday, then went to see Dsis in Cornwall in Feb. Then it was lockdown! So I wasn't planning anything major this year. I don't really take "annual" holidays, more an as and when. If (big if) it is possible to take a couple of days in Eastern Europe at some point, I will go there purely to stock up on cigarettes! It pains me paying £10 per pack here and I never normally do, as I always buy them abroad now.

Littlepoppet1 · 22/05/2020 16:09

One cancelled and one moved to next year! Hoping for a UK weekend away for our anniversary later in the year but not booking anything until much nearer the time!

shookbelves · 22/05/2020 16:14

We were leaving it till the last minute to book this year, so only in as much as that we won't book anything or go anywhere Grin

Earslaps · 22/05/2020 16:14

This has made me realise that using a good travel agent is very sensible for bigger trips. DH always wants to book all the bits ourselves, but it rately saves that much compared to a good independent travel agent or Trailfinders etc. And much less stressful having one place to deal with if things go wrong.

We've been planning a big trip to California (did want to go this year but finances not on our side, next year we're having this year's rescheduled holiday, so probably 2022 now!), and we will definitely use a travel agent for that. I know someone who is an agent via Travel Counsellors, who were rated the best for cancellation refunds by MSE- www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2020/05/mse-travel-survey-results/ so we might use her, or go to Trailfinders who have been good in the past for us.

WhoWhatWheree · 22/05/2020 16:23

Turkey booked for mid to late August, hanging on hope that it will still happen.

beguilingeyes · 22/05/2020 16:23

We were really lucky and went to Canada in mid-February. It seemed a bit needlessly frivolous at the tine (we went to see a band) and it was freezing, but I'm so glad we went now. I feel like we were on the last helicopter out of Hanoi.

We were supposed to be in Holland today. Nothing else planned. Our August Festival (Shrewsbury Folk) has been postponed til August '21.

If possible, somewhere in the UK in October could be a thing.

AuntieMarys · 22/05/2020 16:24

Our 3 holidays are cancelled. Hoping we can get away for a few days in UK October time.
But otherwise next year.

timeforawine · 22/05/2020 16:29

Caribbean cancelled in May, waiting to see what happens with Aug and Nov, Nov is to New Zealand and assume they'd quarantine us, if that's the case when it comes to paying the balance we'll try and change destination or date, failing that get a voucher

MissCalamity · 22/05/2020 16:35

Only had one booked, which we were due to leave for next Wednesday to Spain. Transferred to same time next year.
Will try and get a UK break booked for some point later in the year if everything is back up and running. 🤞🏻

BillyAndTheSillies · 22/05/2020 16:46

We were due to go to Greece in a weeks time which is obviously cancelled.

Managed to get to Disneyland Paris in March just before they locked down France. Even though we knew this was coming, seeing the news reports unfurl while we were there was very strange. Myself and DS2 7 months both went down with suspected CV 10 days later so we think we caught it there.

We had planned quite a big summer as DS1 is due to start school in September and were hoping to squeeze in a few holidays before we were limited to school timetables. We would have gone to Cyprus to visit DH's paternal family and then spent a week or two in Ireland to visit the other side of his family. Thankfully we never actually booked anything.

Shodan · 22/05/2020 16:50

Spain in April was cancelled, obviously. I don't think I'll be doing Wales in mid July either.

I might see about a late deal in October half term for me and the boys, abroad somewhere, but otherwise it'll be next year now.

Mintjulia · 22/05/2020 16:50

Cancelled for the moment. We might try to get away in Autumn half term but summer will be a staycation. Sad

CarolefeckinBaskin · 22/05/2020 17:37

Cancelled this August, moved it to next. Fingers crossed all is good then for travel.

Inextremis · 22/05/2020 17:39

They have gone from vague to ethereal :)

Iamblossom · 22/05/2020 19:58

Managed to get to Italy skiing in February albeit 24 hours late due to storm Dennis. Hmm

Supposed to be travelling to Cyprus for a week tomorrow.Sad

Have flights and a villa booked for Spain in August, highly unlikely

CherryPavlova · 22/05/2020 20:07

We can’t go to our boat; we usually go twice each year.
We were due to go to India but can’t now.
We were expecting to go to Uganda at Christmas but won’t now.

All sad but they’ll be other times. We’ve booked a couple of long weekends in July, in the hope we’ll be able to get away in U.K at some point. We’re hoping we’ll get to our cottage in August or September but will have to wait and see.

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/05/2020 20:11

We hadn't made plans so they haven't changed as such. But the intention was to make plans for a cottage holiday in the UK at some point in the summer holidays. That intention isn't really there now, as a lot of tourist attractions will either still be closed or will be insanely busy as people clamour for a bit of normality.

So we'll probably stay at home, and possibly do some decorating or go on long walks. I might possibly take dd camping for a weekend, but it's not the same as a cottage break for a week or so, especially as dh won't come camping with us.

CatBatCat · 22/05/2020 20:13

Overseas festival in July, tickets have been rolled over to next year's event. Just waiting for easyjet to cancel the flights to get the money back or move them to next year and hope they don't go bust in the meantime.

We'll try get a couple of weekend camps or cottage/Airbnb place somewhere if restrictions allow before the year is over. I'm thinking a remote cottage in November would be lovely to look forward to.

lovinglavidaloca · 22/05/2020 20:14

Hasn’t booked anything yet but obviously won’t be now!

Would love even just a couple of nights away later in the year but everything will probably jump in price now :(

We’re getting married this year (HOPEFULLY) and doesn’t even look like we’ll be able to have a honeymoon now.

RJnomore1 · 22/05/2020 20:15

Gone 😟

We are investing in getting the garden done by landscape gardeners instead.

Bouledeneige · 22/05/2020 20:19

I was very close booking a safari in Tanzania and then time in Zanzibar. Thankfully didn't. Cancelled a few days in Windsor at Easter. Hoping 10 days I. Self catering cottages in Wakes will go ahead. Glad I got to go this year to Madrid and Scotland before lockdown.

AnnaNimmity · 22/05/2020 20:21

Oh so much. was due to be skiing at Easter in Norway - gone. Mini break in Beirut in May for my birthday - gone. Summer holiday sailing in the Greek islands - gone (probably?) and an autumn winter holiday probaby gone.

I was also going to Iran in Feb - cancelled that at the beginning of the year when Covid hit there. Luckily I did get away in February or I'd be really depressed now.

travel is my priority, and I'm really unhappy I'm not going anywhere.

CremeEggThief · 22/05/2020 20:32

I was supposed to go to Ireland at Easter and on a boating trip in Norfolk this half-term, which have (obviously) both been cancelled. I'm not intending on going anywhere now until next year, if it's permitted.

hellohungryimmummy · 22/05/2020 21:02

France booked for the end of August - driving there and totally self contained accommodation. Still holiding out hope and will decide/know when balance is due in July.

If we don’t go, the £ will go in the holiday pot for next year and 2021 will be amazing for trips. I’ve also decided I’ll make the most of being here and sort the house out (painting, finally hanging pictures etc).

Myfriendanxiety · 22/05/2020 21:04

Meant to be going to France early August but have decided we won’t travel. Moved Ferry booking to next year and trying to move accommodation, but that may involve forfeiting deposit and hopefully claiming back on insurance.
