Do any other manfolk write like this or just mine?

Everything in capital letters. But the first letter of the sentence (where the only capital letter should be in my opinion) is slightly larger than the rest.

I thought he just did this on the shopping list but I’ve just seen some of his work notes and it turns out it’s everything.

And now that I’m thinking about it my dad does exactly the same.

Anyone else?!

A previous nanny of ours did. She wrote everything like his - handover notes, cards, lists etc. She was with us for a few years but went on maternity leave before Ds started school and was learning to write letters in school. Before that, I did wonder how I would approach it with her, if for example DS had homework or needed guidance. Events overtook that though.

My Dad and husband both do. Their handwriting is illegible otherwise. Neither is dyslexic, they just have awful handwriting

WhatsTheFrequencyKennneth · 22/05/2020 17:15

My DH does and so does my dad.

TheAirbender · 22/05/2020 17:17

My dad does, funny there are so many others

stardance · 22/05/2020 17:18

Yes he does. So does his Dad.

LochJessMonster · 22/05/2020 17:18

Yes, left handed engineer!

stardance · 22/05/2020 17:19

Sorry meant to add one is an engineer and the other used to be but is now a carpenter.

BillywigSting · 22/05/2020 17:21

My dad does it, but I do it too because my handwriting in lower case cursive is so illegible I had to photocopy a friend's notes to revise from when I was a student.

My capitals are actually readable.

BillywigSting · 22/05/2020 17:22

My dad is an industrial chemist and I studied chemistry though didn't go into it

FizzyGreenWater · 22/05/2020 17:43

Yes, older men definitely.

A surprising amount of people find writing, spelling, legible handwriting hard.

BringMeTea · 22/05/2020 17:48

Mine does. Had no idea it was so prevalent.

TheNoodlesIncident · 22/05/2020 18:03

My dad (metallurgist) didn't, my DH (engineer) does. His letters are also very tiny and rather like hieroglyphics, so still difficult to make out.

I actually do this too when I'm writing lists, and I can create a space down the side like there's a margin even though there isn't one marked. I'm not an engineer though, I just like my lists to be properly legible.

Snazzysausage · 22/05/2020 18:18

Yes my husband does. We've been together 31 years and I've never seen his lowercase writing. I don't think he would know how to do it to be honest.

Allywill · 22/05/2020 18:20

my dad does too. not engineer tho. He also presses on v v hard , writing often marking the table/desk.

MerryDeath · 22/05/2020 19:21

yes. he claims it's because all the writing he does is in logbooks. i say he must be a sociopath.

his is legible and identifiable though which mine isn't. i don't even have a writing, depends on my medium and mood.

Yellredder · 22/05/2020 19:31

My ex always wrote in caps, he was an engineer. My current OH has dreadful writing!

petermaysawthefuture · 22/05/2020 19:48

I do, and I'm neither menfolk, left handed nor an engineer. I have fairly neat cursive too.
Just prefer writing in capitals.

StationView · 22/05/2020 19:57

Yes My XH did / does. He's a mechanical engineer.

Judging from this thread, it seems to be an engineer thing along with scruffiness and arrogance

itbemay1 · 22/05/2020 20:15

My dad does this. V odd!

ALongHardWinter · 22/05/2020 20:31

My older brother does this.

Mytimetogo · 22/05/2020 21:37

My dad does. He was in communication in the armed forces. It was a requirement.

herecomesgeralt · 23/05/2020 01:43

My dad does, he's left handed.

SuperDuperJezebel · 23/05/2020 07:40

My dad and my DH both do, both are engineers.

Cheeseycheeseycheesecheese · 23/05/2020 07:48

My dad does too, another engineer.

BarbiesWorld · 23/05/2020 07:56

My dad does this. He's a leftie who was made to use his right hand and clearly struggles. His letters are so tiny they're still almost impossible to decipher unless you're familiar with his writing.

I used to have to translate letters he wrote to school when I was a kid Grin
