Do any other manfolk write like this or just mine?

Everything in capital letters. But the first letter of the sentence (where the only capital letter should be in my opinion) is slightly larger than the rest.

I thought he just did this on the shopping list but I’ve just seen some of his work notes and it turns out it’s everything.

And now that I’m thinking about it my dad does exactly the same.

Anyone else?!

No, my husband has beautiful handwriting.

Frlrlrubert · 22/05/2020 15:07

My dad does, he is left handed but was made to write with his right hand at school, I think it's for legibility.

I used to make (mostly men)folk write in block capitals at work if their writing was illegible because it was really important that you could read what they'd written for years to come.

EastBoundAndDown · 22/05/2020 15:13

That's so strange - mine does!
Gas engineer

magicstar1 · 22/05/2020 15:14

My dad does it too, and he was an engineer.

It's a pain when we're checking his notebook for email passwords etc. and I have to decipher if there are any real capital letters lol.

BeeFarseer · 22/05/2020 15:14

Isn't this called writing in block capitals? Or am I thinking of something else?

My husband does it for shopping lists.

BissueTox · 22/05/2020 15:20

Mine writes in lower case for everything. Even when there should be a capital letter. Confused

2007Millie · 22/05/2020 15:25

Female left handed here who always writes in capitals.

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/05/2020 15:28

My dad and DP write in capitals, both engineers.

IndieTara · 22/05/2020 15:31

I do. I'm not male

Concestor · 22/05/2020 15:40

My dad does. He's a retired aerospace engineer. I think it must be an engineer thing.

Horehound · 22/05/2020 15:41

Yes my dad does this!

CoronaIsComing · 22/05/2020 16:00

Yes actually DH does. He’s not an engineer though or left handed.

vanillandhoney · 22/05/2020 16:08

Nope. My dad has really neat, cursive handwriting. DH is dyslexic and left school at 14 so his writing isn't brilliant - he tends to write in all-lowercase print. It is legible though!

The only people I know who write in the way you describe are teachers whose writing would be illegible otherwise.

Schoenes · 22/05/2020 16:13

No. Perhaps it is merely a question of class and/or education?

Megatron · 22/05/2020 16:15

Yes, DH does. The only time he writes in lower case is when he writes his signature.

BearSoFair · 22/05/2020 16:20

I do it...if I have to leave a note or message for someone etc I know my writing is clearer in capitals and now I think about it I do make the first letter bigger! Not sure why, I assume it's just how I've always done it.

pottypotamus · 22/05/2020 16:24

Yes my DH is incapable of writing in anything other than capital letters. He didn't even realise he was doing it until I pointed it out and now tries to fill in dc school forms and reading journals in small letters as well. It's a real struggle! 😂

DamnYankee · 22/05/2020 16:33

Dad. And he's a lefty.

IJustWantFiveMinutesAlone · 22/05/2020 16:37

Yep, engineer. He actually writes like his written with a ruler underneath it.

SingleHandSue · 22/05/2020 16:43

Yeah my DH only writes in capitals, but really small! He used to plan kitchen designs so maybe that’s where it came from.

WorriedDaughter1 · 22/05/2020 16:45

My dad did and he was an engineer too!

ChikiTIKI · 22/05/2020 16:50

My FIL does this and he trained as an engineer too!

BlueThursday · 22/05/2020 17:08

My dad does. He is left handed and got belted to write with his right but never got to grips with cursive with his right hand

TheDaydreamBelievers · 22/05/2020 17:09

I (female) write like this and am not an engineer. It developed as a habit writing long uni exam papers that needed to stay legible. My dad has beautiful loopy handwriting and he is an engineer.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 22/05/2020 17:12

Nope DH doesn’t but his spelling and grammar are shocking. I have to check his emails when he’s giving quotes etc for his business. He was genuinely gobsmacked last week when he asked me how to spell vulnerable and discovered there was an l in it, thought I was winding him up.
