Strange Sandwiches

What is the most unusual or strangest thing you have had in a sandwich?
Did you like it ?

Mine was custard , cream , and fruit cocktail. I liked it . It was very refreshing and more than a trifle filling .Grin

Thick crusty bread with pringles and mini smarties with a little mayo. Dh thinks I'm bonkers or pregnant

raffaroo · 22/05/2020 22:43

Mature cheddar and marmalade is lush!

YappityYapYap · 22/05/2020 22:47

Peanut butter, jam and cheese and onion crisps

Holothane · 22/05/2020 22:50

Raw button mushrooms with lettuce and salad cream.

FrangipaniBlue · 22/05/2020 22:56

Red Leicester Cheese and Nutella.

DH also pointed out earlier this week as I was putting Bachelors Super Noodles into a folded over bit of bread that really, a noodle sandwich is a bit weird. He's lived with me for 22 years and has only just noticed that I do this Confused

libertyminty · 22/05/2020 22:58

When I was a student and totally skint my bf at the time used to make us mashed potato, fried onion, sandwich spread and a slice of processed cheese sandwiches. We loved them as it was hugely filling, we’d have one half for lunch and the other half for tea.
If we didn’t have any potatoes we’d have super noodle sandwiches.

AnneKipanki · 22/05/2020 22:59

Wow! Just wow !

BBQ beef super noodles or chicken & mushroom pot noodle butty on thick white bread with lashings of butter

fuckinghellthisshit · 22/05/2020 23:03

Sugar butties were a treat!
Wheatabix with jam on nit so much fun

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 22/05/2020 23:03

My grandad was the king of random sandwiches. Once we had Brie with cold french beans. Another time loads of unsalted butter and very tiny amount of cheese. Or last night's ratatouille. MIL recently mentioned a sardine and tomato sandwich which we were all appalled by.

Isesgirl · 22/05/2020 23:04

My other half likes thick white bread, butter, onion ring crisps and mushy peas all clapped together.

Me..not so much...

MagisCapulus · 22/05/2020 23:06

Marmite and lettuce. Provides a refreshing crunch.

planningaheadtoday · 22/05/2020 23:14

I've enjoyed (too much) fresh white bread with clotted cream and jam.

Eckhart · 22/05/2020 23:16

I think I'm going to have nightmares about this thread.

@YappityYapYap Yours is the only one that looks anything similar to mine, and nobody I've ever known has appreciated my sandwich. I like salt and vinegar crisps with strawberry jam. The quality of the ingredients has gone up as I've got older, but not, I suspect, the classiness of the sandwich :)

planningaheadtoday · 22/05/2020 23:17

@TwentyViginti I have found a good tinned ham. Marks and Spencer do a small tin of cooked chopped reformed ham. It's like a high quality spam and it's not expensive. Makes delicious emergency sandwiches!

Eckhart · 22/05/2020 23:17

@planningaheadtoday That's a victoria sandwich!

YappityYapYap · 22/05/2020 23:23

Eckhart, I'm going to try your one. Sometimes I just have jam with the cheese and onion crisps in the sandwich and skip the peanut butter so I'm going to try with salt and vinegar crisps tomorrow 🙂.

I made my combo for the first time about 18 months a go and DH was like are you pregnant? 😂. Nope, just weird

AdaColeman · 23/05/2020 00:27

Black pudding sandwiches are a good stodgy winter breakfast.

For a special treat Mum used to make Fairy Bread, buttered bread sprinkled with hundreds and thousands.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 23/05/2020 00:40

My mum talks about sugar sandwiches. Never made them for us.
I used to love a Daddies Sauce sandwich.
I also like cottage cheese, tomato, cucumber and mayonnaise sandwiches.

HeIsAVeryBadBoy · 23/05/2020 00:49

On a BA flight to Barcelona, I got served a mushroom sandwich. Millions of horrible little slimy sliced up button mushrooms. No other filling at all.

I fucking hate mushrooms.

Titsywoo · 23/05/2020 01:02

Aldi do this lovely cheap potato gratin - so just cheesy, creamy sliced potatoes. That plus pulled pork with bbq sauce between two slices of buttered white bread is amazing.

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 23/05/2020 01:23

Smoked back bacon, tinned custard and mixed with spring onions and fried onions, with a sort fried egg on thick sliced tiger bread with salted butter, dipped in HP on the side and a final sweep to the side of the plate for 100s and 1000s or dessicated coconut if luckly.

Washed down with a big glass of coke - my childhood in a plate yum

Obviouspretzel · 23/05/2020 01:34

@notanotherboxoffrogs you win the thread! That sounds absolutely horrendous!

titnomatani · 23/05/2020 01:39

White bread+butter+thick packing of Bombay mix= yum.

putastrawunderbaby · 23/05/2020 01:42

Pilchards, sandwich spread and marmite. My mother's invention given to us regularly as children, and yes it was as vile as it sounds!
