It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the devolved nations.
It looks to me like Sturgeon and Drakeford are flexing muscles they don't have, and the Tories are letting them. For now.
Ultimately the English taxpayer is footing the furlough bill, and Sunak is not going to pay out more for companies in Scotland, Wales & NI if their workers can't return due to schools being closed on union advice.
I think this will do the whole idea of devolution some damage. If parents in Wales, Scotland (and to a lesser extent NI becausr of sectarian politics) feel they would be better off if the Westminster government was in charge, then that will have an impact on nationalism sentiment
Given that two months ago the end of the UK due to Brexit was being loudly trumpeted on the left, we'll see how keen people are to be led by Sturgeon and Drakeford without the whole enterprise being underwritten by the UK Treasury.
