Why is my neighbour doing this?

... (I am curtain twitching for sure).

He is pressure-washing the leaves of his trees and his hedge. he has done it about every 2-3 days for a couple of weeks now.

I am finding it a little odd, but there may be a reason for it.

Maybe he wants a clean bush?... don't we all 🤣

SodaSloth · 15/05/2020 17:58

Why not it'll while away the hours until bed time

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/05/2020 18:00

Maybe he wants a clean bush?... don't we all.

I don't want a bush at all. But that's entirely another thread. And it made for 'interesting' reading, I can tell you Grin

AnneKipanki · 15/05/2020 18:07

At first I thought bugs but it sounds like he is hosing everything in site

1forAll74 · 15/05/2020 18:09

Leaf him alone, he has a problem, I just feel sorry for the new spring leaves.

Melroses · 15/05/2020 18:20

My neighbour has a passion for pressure washers and other noisy equipment (garden vacuum, whacker, saws etc) and hasn't got round to pressure washing the hedges yet.

I will have to keep a look out. Wink

midlifecrash · 15/05/2020 18:25

He has a plastic hedge

clairethewitch70 · 15/05/2020 18:26

Probably thinks every has Covid 19 on it

NoProblem123 · 15/05/2020 18:30

Is his cat stuck up there ?

Whenwillthisbeover · 15/05/2020 18:35

Fruit tree? Gets rid of the aphids. The aphids eat the leaves and stunt their growth but it’s a bit late really, I think you should spray the branches when they first bud.

And with water and washing up
Liquid not a jet wash.

Fairyflaps · 15/05/2020 18:47

I use the jet setting of my garden hose to remove aphids. It's pretty effective and avoids the need for chemicals. It doesn't need doing very often.

IcyWind · 15/05/2020 18:52

He’s probably just bored

Sorryoo · 15/05/2020 18:54

Until you said he had a garage, I genuinely believed you were talking about my DH Grin Well anyway, I can tell you why - it's apparently because "all the shit" the pressure washer cleans from the path goes onto the hedge and leaves. And when you've cleaned them once they look nice and shiny so you do it again and again. Also, it's fun and you have fuck all else to do.

@eosmum I think you also may be talking about my DH Grin See above, same rules apply.

He's really odd but I love him Smile I swear I could fill a MN thread each day with Bizzare Shit DH Does.

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 15/05/2020 18:58

I thought I was bored.... and I speak as someone who scrubbed the bathroom skirting boards with a toothbrush last night!

Shopkinsdoll · 15/05/2020 19:09

I’m sorry but that would annoy me, I hate the noise from a pressure washer. It just goes on and on. I’m a bit strange though with noises lol

mumwon · 15/05/2020 19:09

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff (could you have a shorter name???) I hope you didn't use the toothbrush after or was it your dh & you are getting back at him Grin
I washed the kitchen floor on my hands & knees last night with a couple of clothes - did you know old socks are really good for getting scum off the bath (cant get jclothes at the moment)? random bit of boring information....

mumwon · 15/05/2020 19:11

(I bet he doesn't have metered water)

Sorryoo · 15/05/2020 19:13

@JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff toothbrush you say? you sound a perfect match for my DH Grin

Do you believe that all the washing up (caused by cooking dinner eg saucepans) should be done before you sit down to eat? And when you do finish the meal and immediately wash up the plates and cutlery, it should all be dried by hand and put away as soon as it is dry? It shouldn't be left to dry in the drainer because it looks messy.

If you also hold those beliefs and you're interested in a soulmate I have one going for free Grin

(Can you tell this is a particular topic of extremely heated debate in our household today?)

mumwon · 15/05/2020 19:17

has anybody noticed an increase in patio building - for some reason? Grin

saleorbouy · 15/05/2020 19:21

OCD horticulturalist?

thespanishlady77 · 15/05/2020 19:21

Two words ....odd strange

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 20:12

johnny the last time I cleaned grout or skirting boards with a toothbrush I was pregnant and nesting.

Neighbour does not have a cat. Last time I spoke with him he (unusually) invited me in for coffee. Then told me that GreenTeaCat was 'fishing' out his pond. I said that could not possibly be true.... just as GreenTeaCat jumped over the fence and started licking her paw that was very wet right up to her elbow. Blush

My Mum washes the leaves on all the plants in the garden. She was just telling me about this the other day. Apparently they get dusty during the winter and need a wipe down.

duletty · 15/05/2020 20:22

Trying to blast off greenfly/bugs/rusty leaves

JonnyPocketRocket · 15/05/2020 20:32

At first I thought bugs but it sounds like he is hosing everything in site

I misread this as "hosing everything in shite" Envy (not envy)
