Why is my neighbour doing this?

... (I am curtain twitching for sure).

He is pressure-washing the leaves of his trees and his hedge. he has done it about every 2-3 days for a couple of weeks now.

I am finding it a little odd, but there may be a reason for it.

I would say he's either trying to get rid of caterpillars or some other bug, or he's getting woken up early by birds and he's trying to get them to evacuate any nests that may be in there.

Alternatively he wants the cleanest trees/hedges in the street.

Notapheasantplucker · 15/05/2020 17:01

I have no idea but his trees are going to be bald soon if he carries on Grin

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 17:03

He's moved to washing the render now on his garage.

Man, that stuff comes off in chunks.

People always tell me I need a hobby.

I don't.

He's heard that lockdown will be over by autumn and he's trying to give his trees a head start.

Hopkinsscar · 15/05/2020 17:08

He’s just playing and having fun.

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 17:11

See I'd go off an inspect later to see if it is bugs but he has security lights.

(Probably to ward off his wierdo nosey neighbours)

MissMadEyeMoody · 15/05/2020 17:12

Ask him? 🤷‍♀️

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 17:12

Right. I am going with bugs.

Now i am going to look out our other window.

Will report back.

rwalker · 15/05/2020 17:14

is it new

HappyHammy · 15/05/2020 17:15

That wont do the render or outside walls much good

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/05/2020 17:16

Maybe it's a new Pressure Washer and he cannot find the Off switch so he's going until he runs out of water Grin

SeriouslySoDoneIn · 15/05/2020 17:17

There will be tiny bugs on the underneath of the leaves that are eating into the tree and causing it to drip sap everywhere... DP has been doing this a lot lately Grin

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 17:18

DSIS who is also reading this thread just texted me and said 'People are wierd'.

She means him, right?

Grin

Nothing much happening on the other side.

I need to get out more... oh yeah, right.

Green or white fly or other infestation? I try to keep green fly at bay the same way.

MayFayre · 15/05/2020 17:26

I once accidentally sprayed much of a hedge with weed killer rather than bug spray. I realised as soon as I’d done it and got advice from the RHS to hose it off as much as possible. I did and it worked.

Maybe he has done something similar.

Or just a chemical-free alternative to bug control.

Mydoglicksplates · 15/05/2020 17:36

Pressure washing the patio doesn't really Clean the patio it just spreads all the crap elsewhere, so maybe all of his patio crap is now all over the hedge

yamadori · 15/05/2020 17:37

Infestation of some sort of pest probably; and one way to deal with them without using chemicals is to squirt them off.

Aphids and ants are a particular nightmare this year.

If it isn't that, then you're probably right in thinking he's lost his marbles Smile

Laiste · 15/05/2020 17:39

I was going to mention the chemical'less side of this. I never use chemicals in my garden. I would rather try and blast the bugs off things like roses with the hose and if it doesn't work then i don't grow that plant.

We used to have a big tree overhang our garden which dripped stickiness onto our hedge. If we didn't give it a spray while the hedge leaves were young they literally couldn't uncurl because they were stuck. Hedge then looked crap all year.

JemimaPuddleCat · 15/05/2020 17:43

I bet they got darked on Wink

softjellycell · 15/05/2020 17:43

It's got a wasps nest in it and he has a death wish.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 15/05/2020 17:50

This 'darked on' thing is the weirdest shit I've read on this site. And that's saying something.

eosmum · 15/05/2020 17:51

OK I can see a reason for pressure washing trees, but can any of you figure out why my neighbour is hoovering his car every other day. Not just the inside but the outside and the engine. It hasn't moved from the drive since before lockdown.

GreenTeaMug · 15/05/2020 17:52

Not been moved you say?

Dust.

choosesoap · 15/05/2020 17:53

massive spider infestation which will be coming to your garden soon Shock
