How can I go out if no loos are open?

During lockdown I’ve been working from home and walking locally. Also a once a week supermarket trip by car.

Now you are allowed to meet one person from outside your household, as long as it’s outdoors in a park, I am desperate to meet my brother.

We live over 3 hours apart and would be happy to drive to meet half way BUT I couldn’t last the whole round trip plus time for a socially distanced walk without going to the loo! So despite it being permitted and being desperate to meet how can this work?!

I have that problem anyway. I had it before Covid too. I would love to go out for walks (would have) with my friend but on her many routes their is a distinct lack of loos. Not all supermarkets have loos. It is why I would go to Westfield so much before Covid. I would get my exercise walking to it then fly into the nearest loo.

It is a pain trying to go loo in coffee shops as I was bursting when I got there and some thought you were not going to buy anything and gave a lecture.

I second the Shewee, I've got one and it's brilliant. I also don't think that most people judge at the moment if you have to have a pee behind a bush or whatever - if there are no loos open what are you meant to do!

Re. toilets in London, the ladies at Clapham Junction train station are open, had a very enjoyable wee there last week.

ragged · 15/05/2020 15:51

Hedgerows....
Public toilets were explicitly allowed to stay open under the Lockdown rules. (sigh)

Toddlerteaplease · 17/05/2020 01:17

Motorway services are required by law to provide toilets and food and drink. Toilets are still open.

2catsblack · 17/05/2020 01:25

I am on lots of medication that make we wee all day. I
Obsessed with going to the loo when I get to a pub / restaurant/ shop anything! I have managed to cope on long road trips but could write a guide on how to go for a wee anywhere. I think now it is just an obsession! The loos in service stations in Europe have sometimes been interesting! Strangely in the out back of Australia last year there were fab loos hundreds of miles from anyone!

2catsblack · 17/05/2020 01:26

Ps in Australia I didn't hang around as there were big spiders & possible snakes....

2catsblack · 17/05/2020 01:30

I always carry hand wash/ a tissue/ small bag for tissue for natural stops in bushes - again I can draw on a map the best bushes on beaches. Ok that time on the golf course didn't go down well.

SkiingIsHeaven · 17/05/2020 01:40

Tesco toilets are open.

Mnthrowaway20202 · 17/05/2020 04:29

Some (larger) train stations have toilets open. You might need a ticket to enter any ticket gates though.

didmyhousethismornin · 17/05/2020 04:40

A nature wee is fine at the moment

Tootingwife · 18/05/2020 22:56

I really couldn’t face going to a gross public loo at the moment.

The new “Always Boutique” or Tena equivalent are really good and genuinely v discrete.

Nine times out of ten I’ll be fine but for long journeys (etc) I prefer wearing pants for peace of mind.

AgeLikeWine · 18/05/2020 23:03

Locate bush. Pee behind bush. Problem solved.

B1rdbra1n · 18/05/2020 23:51

It's no joke is it😳😥😖
and even with a shewee I wouldn't feel too safe just going in public without someone to watch my back😣

GlummyMcGlummerson · 18/05/2020 23:53

It's completely ridiculous that toilets are closed - not to mention, ableist.

middleager · 18/05/2020 23:58

Interested as I want to see my mother, a 160 mile round trip on the M5 past the notoriously congested Bristol exits (not sure how traffic's building these days?)

Just looked at Shewee and portaloo potty type devices. But how do you wee in them privately without being seen? Wear a long skirt? Getting the privacy on a motorway journey seems hard.

Likethebattle · 19/05/2020 01:11

I tried a sheer ah a festival where the toilets were utterly horrific. t in the park back in the early 00’s. The campsite looks were utterly grim. My friend used it fine but I seemed to have a mental block no matter how desperate I was. It seems I need a loo.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 19/05/2020 01:21

Sorry, but it's not appropriate for women to piss outdoors. The rules do affect women unfairly.

LemonadeAndDaisyChains · 19/05/2020 01:26

Buy a She Wee lol

Thisdressneedspockets · 19/05/2020 08:18

If you're going in the car, you already have your shelter, so just need a solution. She wee into a large container. Laundry detergent type ones are good.

SunshineSmellsLikeSummer · 19/05/2020 08:24

Really? I'm no stranger to the wild wee.

middleager · 19/05/2020 08:40

How can I shelter in my car though? It doesn't have curtains.

Thisdressneedspockets · 19/05/2020 08:47

As long as it has Windows and a roof, no one should be peering in that closely. If they catch you peeing, that's their problem!

midnightstar66 · 19/05/2020 09:01

The problem with nature pee's at the moment is everywhere is so bloody busy with all the new walkers and cyclists our normally deserted path now has a constant flow of traffic

Settle59 · 19/05/2020 09:03

short trips or near somewhere like Tesco Extra thing is the latter would have long queues to get in

KenAdams · 19/05/2020 09:25

It's not appropriate for a woman to be told that she's being inappropriate by having a wee in the bushes ffs.
