Chicken ads for anyone who missed them.

Anyway have fun everyone, I'm off to sit in the park now that it's allowed.

The queue for KFC drive through is causing much upset on my FB today.

All the people in the queue are spreading death - sitting in their own cars 🙄

I’m more concerned about getting food poisoning from our local KFC than Covid. Every time I’ve eaten in there I’ve ended up glued to the toilet.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 13:13

Is it possible to block or leave these groups? Sounds horrible

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 13:16

When I was on FB I had to leave a group about a health condition as it was the same, meant to be 'support' but was so depressing. It even called itself "pain and suffering with (condition name)!". All very victim like and whining about no cure...anyone who suggested anything positive was shut down with "you can't have it as severe" or similar. Total misery fest. Feels much better having no such 'support'

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 15/05/2020 13:16

Coronabored I remember Richard Osman tweeting something along those lines just pre lockdown. He was ripped to shreds by people saying he basically hated old people or those with underlying conditions.

And that is the problem, when a dementor's go to argument is the reductive " so you don't care about teachers/children/old people DYING. You MONSTER" it tend to swallow up all the positive, logical points. Because you have to defend yourself against being a murderer and so can't argue properly.

BlackberryViolet · 15/05/2020 13:18

I’ve been kicked out and blocked! I made the mistake of pointing out that the photos were not what they claimed to be. Twitter got deleted last week And life was so much better, Facebook will follow!

And I really really want a KFC now

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 15/05/2020 13:19

Yep Domina it's true for a lot of families that they don't have a laptop or a PC anymore. People access internet on a phone or tablet these days and that's not the best for home learning. I managed to get my ancient laptop working again for dc's but I don't own a printer and I can't afford to by one (nor do I really have space our tiny house is crammed as it is).
I got pissed last night after a woman was a mad cunt to me in the woods for no apparent reason. I don't drink anymore but I went and bought wine. Feel really weepy and shit today. I had a fry up and am now eating a Curly Wurly (medicinal) and looking forward to tomorrow and feeling better. (Woe is me! Lol)
Funny about anxiety. I am massively anxious over small things that don't affect most people, but, in general, when there is a real crisis or emergency I am really focused and calm. It's like, there's somewhere constructive to put all my usual adreneline. DP says I should have been in emergency medicine, or in the army or something because I would be able to handle crazy situations (but can't handle going to the Post Office sometimes!)
Onwards, onwards.

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 15/05/2020 13:20

Oh, Lilac RE the single firework/drug dealer thing-I think they set off the firework outside and then their customers come over, or meet them in the usual place (in the alley by our house quite often!)

BogRollBOGOF · 15/05/2020 13:22

Mine are y2 and y4, so I'm just not mentioning school at the moment and it's not come up in the y2 group chat (and I've been to busier mausoleums than the y4 chat... well the Taj Mahal would count anyway Grin ).
Was zooming with friends with a mix of circumstances last night. One has a y1 at the same school as mine and she needs to get her back in as she's desperately missing her friends, and home learning just can't happen effectively with two home-working parents in demanding jobs (i.e. senior backroom NHS trying to keep the frontline functioning) and a toddler in the house. Friend is already feeling crap about the whole thing anyway. Then there's a load of precious SAHMummies going on about guinea pigs and danger and September (I am a SAHM, that in itself is not a dig, it's the self-absorbed, "I'm alright Jack, and I wuv my darling so much" attitude that is the issue).

My y4 has just stropped off because he doesn't like the voice of the Bitesize English exract video topped off by Maths being a verbal problem, both of which have tipped his autistic sensitivities. (His y2 brother solved the problem in two minutes because he could cope with the strategy to solve it.) I'll be skipping out of the playground loudly singing Halleluja when I get to drop them off in school!

Springersrock · 15/05/2020 13:24

I’ve unfollowed or unliked all the community groups that were doing my head in

The KFC queue dementoring is on the local radio’s FB page - they’ve actually sent someone down to video the queue of cars.

It was always quite a handy page to follow but I’ve unliked it now

fairycrossthemersey · 15/05/2020 13:26

Well, at last some positive and optimistic news re transmission rates in London. That will give people a nice boost surely........

Nooooooooooo, don't look, just don't look.

Those pesky scientists and statisticians clearly need to read MN and accept how deluded they are. Sad

DominaShantotto · 15/05/2020 13:27

I have very few friends left as most are on 30 day snoozes for dementoring - now we're down to the local community sites which are too useful NOT to follow but bloody hell at the professionally outraged on there.

On hold to the bank to try to get my online banking password reset - this virus is also being the ultimate excuse for companies to go into really shitty customer service mode that I suspect won't go un-shitty again... but now you can't complain about it anymore

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 13:31

Oh I am mad, that little shit first minister in Wales has said no travel but essential. No cars but essential travel. Meanwhile golfers can drive so are playing golf. Fishing, yes but no, yes but no, when it comes to driving to fish. Phone the police, yeah but no, yeah but no, depending on who you speak to.

What a load of plonkers.

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 13:34

Some FB idiot put mile end kfc up in Wales, chicken licken the sky is falling in. Could not resist replying umm. the R number is 0.4 in London, suck that up idiots.

Ehm...hi, can I come in? I used to post a lot on MN but haven't for a couple of years since it all started to get all a bit mean and shouty. But I have been following these threads for a little while and this is literally the only place on the internet I feel at home. FB - deactivated this week. I literally couldn't stand the misery and the competitive lockdowning and the "We're only going to DIIIIIIIIIIIIE" a moment longer. Reading this has kept me a lot happier the last few days. Thank you.

My patronus is one of those monkeys that sits moodily in hot pools in Japan waiting for winter to end. I feel like this is what I'm doing - moodily waiting for this bloody lockdown to end.

Jourdain11 · 15/05/2020 14:18

@Coronabored

I mean do people not listen to Chris Witty. He has said a million times that the overwhelming majority will have no or mild symptoms.

Exactly! But I think it's partly the language.... all of the "this terrible disease" talk.

We don't call the flu "this terrible disease", do we? Naturally it is going to concern people!

Coronabored · 15/05/2020 14:23

But that's just reading the headline without the article. Are people that dense, that we need to hold hands with everything? Maybe the next briefing they can use phonics so people can understand better.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 14:44

Welcome Hester yes deactivated was the world I was looking for - sort of pauses FB for a while. Yes and then can delete if needed.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 14:46

Just feeding the ducks on a walk with my reluctant teens in the park. A couple saw us and literally tried to climb a grassy bank instead of going past us. Path going the other way so no need to. Eventually they shrugged and walked back to their car and drive off! Confused

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 14:53

I have an old school bell, perhaps I should walk abroad ringing it shouting unclean, unclean Grin

HesterShaw1 · 15/05/2020 15:01

This crisis has really brought home how totally self absorbed the PM must be (I mean we knew that anyway but still...) The virus was nothing to be too scared of until he personally caught it and became seriously ill. Likewise with obesity, there's no real emergency on that, until it dawned on him that a possible reason for him being more unwell than his peers is because he is overweight and they (Whitty, Hancock) are not. But there's no nuanced thinking about it - we all have to live under lockdown because of Johnson's brush with death.

justasking111 · 15/05/2020 15:04

My take of this is we all have to live with lockdown because our cities have been decimated by this awful covid. Personally in our county three have died. That does not take away from what is happening nationally. Good on Boris for admitting he is a porker so brought it on himself with his serious illness.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/05/2020 15:05

I just find myself getting really annoyed with the "the cases are going up!" how can we ease restrictions!
Cases are going up because we are testing more, we are testing people likely to have it who wouldn't have got a test previously so that inflates the figures. This is a bit crude but its the positive proportionate to the tests carried out by day, gives you a bit of perspective doesn't it?

thesuninsagittarius · 15/05/2020 15:06

Hi everyone. Struggling with depression today, can't be bothered to do anything and had to force myself out for a walk. Lots of sanctimonious looking people with twee home made masks on; pulling them down to chat to Mavis in the queue, or to have a cigarette. I am irritated by everything. This lockdown twattery seems to have brought out a special kind of stupid in people.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/05/2020 15:06

Anyway I am sure that will be shooting up again soon, as the VE day murderers will be showing symptoms shortly....
