I was assuming same small class number would mean more teachers being needed around in school.

Though Y6 teacher been in school on rota quite a bit for children needing places and has managed to set quite a bit of well thought out work.

This is great!

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:12

There is one now about 'shocking' ONS stats which just reassured me as overall disk of death is on average 1 in 10,000, and most occupations around that level os a bit higher.

But no it is 'shocking' Confused

So much higher risk of lots of other diseases, think our overall risk of cancer in a lifetime is between 1 in 2 or 1 in 3...

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:13

We have cassettes of Down the Line, I agree very funny! Grin

DominaShantotto · 15/05/2020 12:14

Ours are doing half the week with one class split across the two year group classrooms and teachers and then swapping over.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:16

Oh, sorry the shocking figures are for men..so around 1 in 20,000 for men if I have got my sums right!

"Nearly two-thirds of these deaths were among men (1,612 deaths), with the rate of death involving COVID-19 being statistically higher in males, with 9.9 deaths per 100,000 compared with 5.2 deaths per 100,000 females (882 deaths)"

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:16

for women! Think I need a break Grin

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:19

This is very good

"Healthcare workers, including those with jobs such as doctors and nurses, were not found to have higher rates of death involving COVID-19 when compared with the rate among those whose death involved COVID-19 of the same age and sex in the general population."

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/05/2020 12:21

That’s what ours were planning but there was some guidance that came out yesterday saying they shouldn’t be offering part time... if they can’t accommodate full time for all year groups they need to start with full time for just the youngest. Which will fuck up a lot of schools plans if they enforce it.

Orangeblossom78 · 15/05/2020 12:23

Domina yes sounds similar. I hope the other year groups don't miss out, it seems unfair to have some in first and not the others. Especially when year 6s usually have end of term stuff taking over anyway.

DominaShantotto · 15/05/2020 12:28

Oh fuck - DD2 is never going to get back is she? It'll destroy her completely if she's got to wait much longer - I can see her ending up on bloody medication soon.

SirSamuelVimesBlackboardMonito · 15/05/2020 12:29

To those who asked, MIL helpfully left space on each page so that DD could draw the pictures herself! Angry

thenightsky · 15/05/2020 12:29

I have tried so hard today to spark some kind of positivity on the dementor threads but they are just so blinkered!

I tried to do that on FB last night, but woke up to around 40 replies, all piling on me to the point where I think I'm going to have to come off there.

BrightYellowDaffodil · 15/05/2020 12:33

@Coronabored Don't you know that the virus feeds on positivity? And positivity attracts it, too - it's like catching the eye of that dinosaur in Jurassic Park.

We must all be miserable and quiet, so as not to provoke it Grin

Drivingdownthe101 · 15/05/2020 12:36

DominaShantotto I’m hoping head teachers will feed back that it’s entirely unworkable to have them in full time from the start if classes are limited to 15. Can’t see any schools being able to accommodate it.

Cattermole · 15/05/2020 12:37

I've not been on FB for a month now. Other than contact with my bestie (furloughed in Brentford and I worry about him - not that he's going to die a horrible lonely death of the virus, but that he's like to cut loose with an axe if he stays stuck in a flat for much longer) I've not missed a lot.

DominaShantotto · 15/05/2020 12:39

@Drivingdownthe101 I can just see our HT gleefully having the chance to legitimately wash her hands completely of the year 2s that won't show on any data anyway anymore and calling it a job done with them.

Oh god poor DD2.

Bollss · 15/05/2020 12:41

If so many people really aren't going to send their kids in it should be easy!

BillywilliamV · 15/05/2020 12:48

Why am I still on this site, its like a weird addiction!!
Some woman has sat her five year old down and told her "school's going to be a bit shit darling!" The kid has naturally cried, so now she 's not going!
What was the point? Does she want congratulations, commiseration, parenting tips? What?

enjoyingSun · 15/05/2020 12:52

Might help lurkers - I often read through links posted.

My parents - in England - who are over 70 and in higher risk groups are really happy today as they are going for a drive - and one of them poped to local shop. They are being sensible and cautious but are more than ready to be going out and about bit more.

Mascotte · 15/05/2020 12:58

I'm a bit disheartened as gigs now seem to be cancelled til next year. Is it really going to go on and on all year? No social events?

Cheer me up, you despicable lot 😂

BlackberryViolet · 15/05/2020 13:00

I made the mistake of going on Facebook this morning. I was feeling quite positive. A prospective school for dd2 has called and asked us to come in next week. It’s a specialist asd setting. We’ve hit the beach with dog the last 2 evenings.

One of the local Facebook pages had pictures of the beach yesterday evening. All taken with a telephoto lens, compressing perspective and making people appear closer than they are. There’s even a shot of the queue outside the chippy. Dementors are out in force, fuckwits are killing us all, we need to lock back down, bring in the army, blah blah blah and bingo card filled in 20 seconds.

Except there were few cars, not many on the beach, we managed to stay well away from anyone. It was all very civilised, people smiling and generally being positive. And the chippy they pictured was actually shut. So no queue. People are being manipulated and lied to. Pointing this out gets you a load of abuse and blocked.

The local council are refusing to open country and woodland parks, car parks and every single bit of green space they closed weeks ago. Needless to say they are hero’s to dementors and they seem to be playing to them as they make the most noise. And we can’t get any answers from them with regard to dd2s education. The school are wanting to move things forward but the LA are not. There are no EHCP panels running. No one we can talk to. At the moment she has no provision. Should have been taking GCSEs this year but hadn’t had a place anywhere since January. Not one person has checked on her wellbeing at all. So fucked off with the lies, manipulation and political points scoring which seems to be going on round here currently.

Coronabored · 15/05/2020 13:03

I mean do people not listen to Chris Witty. He has said a million times that the overwhelming majority will have no or mild symptoms. Do the dementors just stick their fingers in their ears going la la la when he talks?
Thank Christ for you guys.

thenightsky · 15/05/2020 13:06

I've found two fellow hopefuls on FB this morning... both PMd me agreeing with my positivity. Yay. Maybe the tide will turn slowly.
