And if so how would it so?
What would it go on or towards ?

It would make life more comfortable. Pay off mortgage, and allow us to give dc a deposit so he can buy. Maybe a new (secondhand) car.

cheeseismydownfall · 11/05/2020 07:28

No. Would take a good chunk off the mortgage but not enough for us to change our working levels, and anyway we both lucky enough to be happy working right now.

£200-300k would be somewhat 'life changing' in that we would be able us to afford to consider independent secondary education for the children. We would still need to find another £200k-ish out of income but it might be possible.

£500k would be fucking awesome. But we are fortunate with what we have already so I don't really think about it too much.

Ohffs66 · 11/05/2020 07:28

Yes. We'd pay off car loans and credit cards which come to c£25k, get the garden done and pay a chunk off the mortgage. It would reduce our outgoings by around £1k a month, which would be bloody lovely!!

oooompa · 11/05/2020 07:29

I don't think it would be life changing, but it would pay off our mortgage and allow us to do the work needed to our flat. We would both still need to work, but the luxury of knowing we didn't have a mortgage payment would be lovely.

Stealthynamechange · 11/05/2020 07:31

Yes! Pay off pur debts & get on property ladder, it would be amazing!

PurpleDaisies · 11/05/2020 07:32

It would make life a lot easier. Most of the mortgage could go so we’d have nearly a grand a month more to play with.

REdReDRE · 11/05/2020 07:33

Not immediately as our mortgage is considerably higher, but this would pay off a massive chunk would would be life changing more longer term.

FraughtwithGin · 11/05/2020 07:33

No, it would not be life-changing.
10 million might be life-changing!

Utterlydespairing · 11/05/2020 07:34

No. Nowhere near it.

Dowser · 11/05/2020 07:35

Not Really.
It still would come in useful though
What I Would spend it on, I have no idea until uk is back to normal.

Peggysgettingcrazy · 11/05/2020 07:37

I dont think there's a difference between enhancing and changing. If you have enhanced something. You have changed it.

It would pay my mortgage off and give me the money to do the house up how I want, so that we can stay here permanently.

So I would have spare money every month.

GreenGlassVase · 11/05/2020 07:39

Yes

Megan2018 · 11/05/2020 07:40

No sadly not. It’d make a huge difference though!
We could pay off a good chunk of the mortgage, do the extension and have some spare cash in the bank.
I need £500k to be life changing (could change job etc).

firstimemamma · 11/05/2020 07:40

Yes.

  • pay off part of our mortgage (boring I know!)
  • give to family
  • give to charity
  • complete the work on our house
  • have some fun Smile
LoadsaBlusher · 11/05/2020 07:40

Yes we could pay off our mortgage and have plenty left over for renovation / improvements and pay off my car too

G5000 · 11/05/2020 07:42

No, I'd just stick it into my retirement. I have all we need and extra 100K would not allow me to make any massive changes to our lifestyle.

Chanel05 · 11/05/2020 07:42

I could pay off some of the mortgage with it but I'd still have more than that to go!

CanICelebrate · 11/05/2020 07:43

It would pay off my mortgage with enough left over for a new car and I’d put the rest aside for dc when there are at university..... so life enhancing but not completely life changing.

Angel2702 · 11/05/2020 07:44

It wouldn’t be life changing in that it wouldn’t make a huge difference to mortgage and bills so would still be working etc.

Elmo230885 · 11/05/2020 07:44

Yes. It would pay off our mortgage with a little to spare, probably enough to rip out my horrible kitchen! To be mortgage free with two small children would allow us lots of freedom.

feelingdizzy · 11/05/2020 07:45

It would pay off most of my mortgage which would give me so much more flexibility and really take the pressure off .

Squoon · 11/05/2020 07:46

Yes I guess it would be life changing.

It would pay off our mortgage and car and cover the cost of the new roof we are about to get. We could afford to get new windows too. We would still need to work, but we would be able to go on holiday, build up a good savings pot and generally not have money worries for the future.

megletthesecond · 11/05/2020 07:46

Of course. I could nudge up the property ladder and buy a new car with bit left over.

SpyApp · 11/05/2020 07:47

Yes.
My home wouldn't be at risk and it would help sort the stress on my mental health.

drspouse · 11/05/2020 07:47

We'd pay off the mortgage on our rental flat so net income would be higher.
But we are comfortable anyway and the things that would be really life enhancing (a cure for my son's difficulties, a really good school for him) aren't things money can buy.
