Is licking the yogurt lid really awful?

I was raised in a real waste not want not household. I was taught that when eating a yogurt, you lick the lid to avoid wasting any. In the days when lids were foil you had to be careful not to cut your tounge, I was taught that too! I've always thought this was normal and what everyone does.

Just today, for some reason I've wondered if it might not be the done thing in the staffroom?!

Tell a lie - you got Transparency from yogurt lids Grin

From now on I'm going to offer to lick other people's yogurt lids

thisenglishlife · 11/05/2020 18:29

Why not take the yoghurt off with a spoon?

Smidge001 · 11/05/2020 18:34

It's horrible to see. Just use a spoon to scrape it off.

Theukisgreatt · 11/05/2020 18:40

The person who said it reflects your background Grin

I'm quite sure there are lid lickers in all echelons of society.

pussycatinboots · 11/05/2020 19:40

If it's the inside of the lid and done in your own home - not a problem.
If it's in the queue at the supermarket - you might be considered a little "odd" Grin

I wouldn’t do it in front of others but in private I’m definitely a lid licker.

Ninkanink · 11/05/2020 20:39

Ok to do at home, not great to do in public.

Douberry · 11/05/2020 21:04

Absolutely fine at home but I wouldn't do it in public. I don't think I would bat an eyelid if I saw someone doing it though...just couldn't get myself worked up over something like that

BelfastNonBlonde · 11/05/2020 21:05

Yes.

It’s the worst.

Ginkypig · 11/05/2020 21:18

It makes me ever so slightly vomity Envy

But then I'm also not at all happy about the disgusting ring of gunk at the top of the pot either which I try very carefully to remove without it touching the rest before I can eat it.

Can you tell I'm not a huge fan of yogurt if I'm honest.
