Mine is Sandie Shaw. I can't believe it had never occurred to me until tonight that her name is a play on Sandy Shore.

Apparently it's twice as deep as the North Sea 🤯

The North Sea is very shallow so that doesn't surprise me - it's only 700 metres at it's deepest point. Apparently this is why it warms up so quickly (which is news to me, and anybody else who has tried swimming in it!). It's warmer than where I usually swim in the sea though.

Girl babies are less likely to be late than boy babies. I am pleased my OH told me this the other day as I'm 37 weeks' pregnant with a daughter and both of my boys were late!!! Grin

Twinkle Twinkle, and Baa Baa are different!

KittenVsBox · 10/05/2020 10:54

@ErrolTheDragon
I'm with you. Baa baa black sheep is different.
I agree the tune in that wiki link is Twinkle/alphabet but my baa baa black sheep goes more like this, which is different.

I found out this week that you can freeze eggs, just crack them into an ice cube tray, preferably silicone and stick in freezer. Thanks Lakeland!

Is the Sandie shaw thing because she sang bare foot quite a bit? Sandy shore, bare feet in the sand?

prh47bridge · 10/05/2020 10:59

Twinkle Twinkle, and Baa Baa are different

They both use a tune written by Mozart in his Twelve Variations on Ah, vous dirai-je, maman, as does the alphabet song.

Try singing:

Twinkle, twinkle little star
Yes sir, yes sir, three bags full
Q R S T U and V

okay, I have just tied a lace and it definitely doesn't come undone if I pull at either end.

We need a video! Not of the undoing, but of the doing up because some people are obviously tying it differently to start with.

merryhouse · 10/05/2020 11:06

@KittenVsBox I'd be interested to see what words you use for BBBS, because the ones I have don't fit that tune.

"the" alphabet song is exactly the same as Twinkle Twinkle.

Baa Baa Black Sheep begins with the same structure - if you ignore the extra notes on "you any", the rest of the first line is identical, as are the second and third.

After that is where things go a bit off - "little boy who lives down the lane" and a finish instead of another line or two. Which is why I'm intrigued by Kitten's post.

My DH was recently mind blown when I corrected him that penguins were actually birds, and not mammals as he had always believed 🙄

merryhouse · 10/05/2020 11:08

Oh, and the confusion over how far west Scotland is has nothing to do with being a globe and everything to do with how far south the west of the country goes. The south coast is not a parallel.

That when you breakfast you are breaking the nights fast...
So obvious to everyone but me

merryhouse · 10/05/2020 11:12

My own: I was the ripe old age of 20 when explaining to my new boyfriend which motorway junction to take to get to my parents' house I said "it's quite a big junction: it's got a roundabout"

I was not at that point myself a driver, and I had literally never gone through that particular junction, and hadn't realised that motorways were not the same as A-roads...

I'm still not sure whether he realised what I'd said and decided it wasn't worth the hassle of trying to explain Grin

merryhouse · 10/05/2020 11:13

gah! there should be some punctuation in that first line. I think I altered it half-way through...

Ninkanink · 10/05/2020 11:18

@Merryhouse

If we take the bow as having bunny ears, once you have tied the first bow you then just tie a second bow using the two ears...

I can’t think of any other way to do a double bow, but maybe there is?

I always thought saints were other-worldly, like angels. Could never get my head around people being made into saints. It came to me when I was about 40 Blush

@sashh not enough, unless you like chewing the pits on a punnet of cherries

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 10/05/2020 11:23

Australia hasmountains, imaginatively some are called 'the snowy mountains' the largest area of permenant snow in one country is in Australia. There may be other areas larger but they are split between different countries eg the Alps are part French, Swiss, Italian and Austrian.

What about Russia? Or Greenland? They must have larger areas of snow?! Is the South Pole a 'country'?

WitchWife · 10/05/2020 11:24

Thanks to this thread I’ve just realised that my toaster also has a crumb tray. And, indeed, cleaned the little sod out.

JoeExoticsEyebrowRing · 10/05/2020 11:24

Can't believe we have got to page 12 and no one has mentioned Center Parcs yet have they?

user1495884620 · 10/05/2020 11:26

What should we know about centre parcs?

Rebelwithallthecause · 10/05/2020 11:27

I read once in here that people go there specifically for anal sex Grin

ivykaty44 · 10/05/2020 11:27

Imperial leather soap, you place the label downside so the soap doesn’t go soft
