What do you think Boris’ announcement will be on Sunday?

So Boris is to make his lockdown review announcement on Sunday as per the three week schedule.

I’ve heard reports that he may possibly relax restrictions - possibly even starting as early as next Monday.

Does anyone think this is just the media saying that or does anyone think the rules will stay the same or perhaps be made stricter?

Well no, he announced it in the house this afternoon. He is relaxing from Monday. He will tell us Sunday night what will happen the next day. And he will lay out the plan for further restrictions to be lifted and the time schedule.

Even if you didn’t see it, it’s all over the news and media.

bigchris · 06/05/2020 21:47

I think we'll be allowed out twice a day and some businesses will reopen

He'll announce return to school for some 1st June

fourpeasinapod · 06/05/2020 21:47

@Bluntness100 oh that does sound positive indeed.

However, I just hope this is done appropriately and we don’t end up regretting it

Oh and weddings will come back in the format of 5 people , bride and groom , 2 witnesses and registrar from July or August maybe and funerals will be expanded to 10 people

Football behind closed doors from 30th June, but Boris don't announce that

No mass gatherings, no pubs or restaurants still
Maybe cafes , MacDonalds etc if can social distance

All pure speculation obviously but just what I think

bigchris · 06/05/2020 21:52

Would love libraries museums and galleries to open, 10 in at a time or something , person on the door like banks

Think some shops will open like primark too

bigchris · 06/05/2020 21:53

I'm on a roll Grin
You'll be able to go to national trust again and beaches etc for picnics but no parties

scattercushion17 · 06/05/2020 21:54

Looking forward to museums opening too, whenever that will be.

Whateverfuckingnext · 06/05/2020 21:55

I think he will announce a further 3 weeks but with a relaxation on meeting friends/family. E.g. small groups may meet as long as not displaying symptoms.
I also think some non essential shops will be allowed to reopen with restrictions on numbers (one in one out).
I imagine he may suggest schools could re open in some capacity in June but that they're still working on how and who will attend.

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 06/05/2020 21:58

Some relaxation. Can see close relatives. Some businesses can reopen.

Plan to get schools back in June (but much reduced intake).

ChainsawBear · 06/05/2020 21:58

More shops will be encouraged/told to reopen and more people to get back to work. That may be the extent of it tbh, or they may allow meeting others outside.

I expect he will also confirm the beginning of a phased schools return on June 1.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 22:01

Apparently we might be able to have picnics. I hate picnics so I hope it's not compulsory.

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2020 22:01

Op, yes he said he’d be lifting restrictions so wished to let the house know his intentions as when he announced it on Sunday it would be what’s occurring the next day,

I suspect he is holding off till Sunday to get over the bank holiday weekend. So folks don’t rush out I guess.

It looks like it will be staggered, but what I watched of him that’s all I saw him saying, he said he would also use the data over the next few days till then to validate the decisions.

On Thursday he will likely just say keep going and I’ll tell you Sunday. It seems they don’t want to make the announcement until the long weekend is over. So I Imagine it’s going to involve ability for people to get together, Ie shops, social groups etc.

CodenameVillanelle · 06/05/2020 22:04

There will definitely be relaxation from Monday, that's why he's announcing it Sunday and not tomorrow- so that people don't rush out for the bank holiday weekend and take the piss.

I think we will get one household each to interact with, looser rules on going out and the schools announcement (thank god for that)

fourpeasinapod · 06/05/2020 22:05

@Bluntness100 @CodenameVillanelle it is great to hear some good news - it’s uplifting.

Obviously we are not out of the woods yet, unfortunately, it is good to hear that

I really hope we can access the outside again but sensibly of course!! Praying for NT to be opened again.

Please please and hairdressers should be opened too with the wearing of visas.

fourpeasinapod · 06/05/2020 22:08

I know my hair is in an awful state

OP posts:
CodenameVillanelle · 06/05/2020 22:09

I hope they open parks and gardens again.

Gobbolinocat · 06/05/2020 22:09

I must say I just think the closing of parks etc was barmy.

It's funneled people into smaller spaces.

And not allowing people to drive... Bonkers.

Hundreds of miles, maybe not but short drives to woodland etc.

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 22:11

I have mixed feelings about hairdressers even though I am starting to look like I could join Bon Jovi in the 80s at the moment.
So the hairdresser doing your hair is going to be coming into contact with loads of other people and for quite a long time each appointment so could be quite a carrier IYKWIM.

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2020 22:13

I really want my hairdresser to go back to work. I may camp out at her door and cry if she doesn’t.

Happy to wear a mask and for her to. It’s not like we are face to face either.

LuminousAmber · 06/05/2020 22:15

I’m wondering if it’s being timed with school holidays in mind.

Release gradually from Monday. Much wider release in further 3 weeks, then schools all back as normal in 6 weeks, around mid June.

Give the germy kids a month in school to spread it like wildfire then schools break up for 6 weeks - to coincide with the second massive wave.

Less hassle because schools are shut anyway. July-August is the ‘perfect’ time for the second wave as seasonal flu and the like will be low. All those newly built hospitals ready to be rammed full.

katienana · 06/05/2020 22:15

Closing parks is fucking ridiculous and really counter productive

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 22:18

I was pondering a trim al fresco at home, with masks @Bluntness100, I can do the drying/styling myself after.
Or just embrace the 80s once more. Grin

Gwynfluff · 06/05/2020 22:18

More outside activity as it doesn’t seem to spread
More businesses to open but still work from home if can - furloughed back to work were possible. Cafes using outside space.
Wear masks for transport and in work - but not compulsory or medical grade
Some indication of schools reopening
NHS starting to get back to normal

No still to mass gatherings and maybe for rest of year.
Shielding to still shield. Vulnerable to shield longer- full 12 weeks
No pubs
No non-essential travel still
No to beauty salons
Not she about general retail

Think gatherings with other non-vulnerable will not be eased until after late May bank holiday

Sparklingbrook · 06/05/2020 22:20

I can see non essential shops opening back up providing they can do all the social distancing required.
