Do you own something you would rave about?

I’m going to be thirty soon. I’m married with a dog and a baby. Lots of people asking what I want for my birthday but honestly I have no idea. I’m thinking perhaps I’m missing out on things I have no idea exist. Do you own something that you absolutely love and would recommend to others?

(Before you all ask what I’m into... nothing particularly crazy! I watch TV, I read, I bake, I do yoga and pilates, go for the odd run, I also cook and clean, I used to shower and make myself look nice until about five weeks ago...)

I had a four month old when I turned 30. I know you're asking if I have anything I'd rave about, but not really 😂 I got some beautiful mugs, some equally beautiful boots, an eternity ring, and a kindle. I don't use the kindle anymore.

Grumpbum123 · 29/04/2020 15:53

For my fortieth I asked for some lovely garden furniture which would last it’s made my garden so different

ladyhummingbee · 29/04/2020 15:54

At that age with small dc one of my best presents was a tumble dryerBlush.

TooDamnSarky · 29/04/2020 15:55

I'm stupidly fond of my roomba.
And my bicycle.
And my sofa blanket.

That's about it really.

Christmashope19 · 29/04/2020 15:55

I am 41 and couldn’t live without my kindle
I’m currently reading around 2 books a week
Just got the basic kindle so no surfing the internet etc it’s purely for reading

memememe · 29/04/2020 15:57

how about some trex aftershock headpones? i got them and some running trainers for my birthday last year.

Bubbletrouble43 · 29/04/2020 15:58

Not a cook here but DP is and desperately wants a kenwood chef. My mum is a keen cook and Baker and loves hers more than her kids ( joke)

Thighmageddon · 29/04/2020 16:01

A Dyson Airwrap complete, it's bloody amazing.

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 29/04/2020 16:02

Self-cleaning pyrolytic hide and slide Neff oven. It is actual magic.

Or my Coach handbag - this one is quite good value at the mo.

My steam mop is wonderful. As is my Roomba. They save me so much time and stress.

huffaloopa · 29/04/2020 16:07

I would replace my dyson air wrap in a heartbeat if it broke.

Whitney101 · 29/04/2020 16:10

Thanks all

I have the slide and hide oven 🙌🏻 I love it

I did once fantasise about owning a roomba! That’s a good idea I might look into. I also don’t have a kindle so there’s something in that.

I’ll google some of the appliances mentioned.

I would love one of those airwraps but they seem £££. Are there any other personal grooming products that make life easier? I own a basic hairdryer and some GHDs. I don’t own anything in the way of an electric shaver and wonder if I should.

Mine are boring - not 30th birthday presents.

Cordless vacuum is life changing.

Random but these are absolutely amazing. I buy
them for everyone. www.lakeland.co.uk/14236/Magnetic-Wooden-Toast-Tongs-For-Toasters

For my 30th though, I had a pendant with my DC names on, it's lovely and I wear it every day.

S0upertrooper · 29/04/2020 16:18

What's so good about the Dyson airwrap? DH wanted to buy me one and I was horrified at the price. Did I miss a trick?

My coveted items are

  1. My purple Brompton folding bike. I love the design, it's so bloody clever and i love the dinkyness of it.
  2. My Kitchen Aid mixer, also purple, is a thing of beauty.
  3. My bluetooth headphones are a lifesaver and great for running.
Elouera · 29/04/2020 16:19

I love my electric pressure cooker. Feels much safer than the stove top variety and I cook all sorts in it. My favourite is pork ribs, 1/2 tin hoisin sauce and either some beer or water. Cook. The pour the other half of the hoisin over the top, and you have fall off the bone, sticky ribs Grin
You can cook cheaper cuts in 1/4 of the time, and the meat is always moist and delicious.

IDefinitelyHaveFriends · 29/04/2020 16:26

Oh yes, I also love my magnetic wooden toast tongs. I’d be a bit pissed off if that was all I got for my thirtieth though.

bamboothrough · 29/04/2020 16:27

My robot hoover (but I do have very hairy dogs)

FizzyPink · 29/04/2020 16:31

Wrong time of year for it but undoubtedly my electric fleecy throw. DP hates being hot in bed so I lay one half under me and then fold the other half on top and then get under the duvet and it it bliss in winter!

Anoisagusaris · 29/04/2020 16:32

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Serum

L’Occitane hand cream

L’Occitane liquid hand soap
My bed

Cashmere jumper

Cashmere hat from Cos

Definitely a tumble dryer

Whitney101 · 29/04/2020 16:32

Ooo I have a kitchen aid, I wonder if there are some good attachments I should look into. That’s food for thought.

Love those toast tongs! DS loves a hot cross bun and those fuckers are dangerous to get out of the toaster.

Lakeland generally has great gadgety things so their website is proving inspirational.

Nice garden furniture.
Quooker tap.

YewandOak · 29/04/2020 16:38

Kindle Paperwhite
Teddy Bear blanket from Dunelm
Electric blanket

DreamingofSunshine · 29/04/2020 16:39

Dyson airwrap is fab, I've got rid of the hairdryer and ghds. I've got fine straight hair.

Roomba is fabulous especially with a toddler.

Diptyque candles so my house smells great even if it looks like a bombsite!
