Do you own something you would rave about?

I’m going to be thirty soon. I’m married with a dog and a baby. Lots of people asking what I want for my birthday but honestly I have no idea. I’m thinking perhaps I’m missing out on things I have no idea exist. Do you own something that you absolutely love and would recommend to others?

(Before you all ask what I’m into... nothing particularly crazy! I watch TV, I read, I bake, I do yoga and pilates, go for the odd run, I also cook and clean, I used to shower and make myself look nice until about five weeks ago...)

Dyson hairdryer?!

BestestBrownies · 29/04/2020 16:42

Fucking hell! Appliances? Seriously? Is this a zombie thread from 1957?

Bluewednesday · 29/04/2020 16:50

Tumble drier will change your life if you haven't got one already.
I also like my Thermomix, but it's on the expensive side.

PicklePig31 · 29/04/2020 17:04

Bluetooth wireless headphones...

I’d recommend the Beats Powerbeats Pro. I have Apple pods too but for workouts the Beats are superb.

Spa day? Fancy gym membership?

TheLurkingOne · 29/04/2020 17:07

Beautiful bell tent! And dehumidifier. Both well worth the money and make Mel happy!

Wexone · 29/04/2020 17:13

Got Dyson air wrap for xmas, its a game changer. Have very long thick wavy hair, never blow dry it my self, either stick it in a bun or pay for a hairdresser to blow dry it. Along with colour wow treatment I can now give my self a fairly decent bouncy blow dry. I have now sold all my curling tongs etc . I See they now have a straightener. Also as someone else suggested wireless headphones, got the Samsung ones, fit very snuggly in your ears. Love them. Ask for something you would never buy for yourself, be it a day out or something for keep. Mine 30th present was a weekend away in Nice( We hadn't had a holiday in 5 years before that) Where my partner bought a nice painting(that's what he into) We all bought my sis a watch , that she still wears nearly 5 years later.

Taddda · 29/04/2020 17:14

I said no to the Dyson hairdryer as an xmas pressie because of the cost- then my hairdresser used one on me in January and it was amazing! Big regret, if it was on offer again I'd snap it up with a big 'YES please!!'

mypoorfurbaby · 29/04/2020 17:16

Bose noise cancelling headphones.
I can really switch off with them on

EdinburghBelle · 29/04/2020 17:18

Apple Watch?

Morred · 29/04/2020 17:20

Expensive jewellery? Is there a shop you always glance in the window (and does it sell online) of? Doesn’t matter if you won’t wear it that much - sometimes it’s nice to know it’s there!

Whitney101 · 29/04/2020 17:36

I don’t actually have any decent headphones and that might be a good idea. Spend a lot of time walking the dog while the baby is asleep. I used to love an audiobook!

I would love some decent garden furniture. I don’t really expect anyone to buy me anything outright but money towards some is a good idea. If anyone has any recommendations of good places that would be helpful, I could ask for vouchers perhaps.

Philips lumea prestige - total game changer if you have the right skin/hair colour, no more body hair! It’s quite expensive, my DH got me mine for Christmas as a surprise after I’d said I wanted one but couldn’t justify the price and I love it. No more hair removal or ingrown hairs 👊🏻

RhymingRabbit3 · 29/04/2020 18:15

Soda stream
Absolutely love it. It's really come into its own with the lockdown now we cant just pop out for a cold drink

WelcomeToTheMountaintop · 29/04/2020 18:26

Yes to noise cancelling headphones. Bloody lifchanging.

Especially WFH during lockdown.

Don’t know how I ever managed without tbh.

supercee · 29/04/2020 18:38

Aged 30 I'd start investing in really good skin care products (if you don't already).

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/04/2020 18:48

I love my robo hoover.

NetballHoop · 29/04/2020 18:49

If you are after headphones, I love the "Bone conduction" ones I got got for Christmas.

You can clearly hear your music/podcast and yet still hear what's going on around you.

These are the ones: www.amazon.co.uk/AfterShokz-Titanium-Open-Ear-Conduction-Headphones-Black/dp/B07QH3TYDW/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=Conduction+Wireless+headphones&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&qid=1588182415&sr=8-4

devildeepbluesea · 29/04/2020 18:51

Oh oh oh, I have one!

A hot water dispenser, beside my bed. I drink 2 cups of coffee before I even get out of bed. It has quite literally changed my life!

FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 29/04/2020 18:58

Objects I love:

  • hot water bottle
  • cordless vacuum cleaner
  • a very good vibrator
Whitney101 · 29/04/2020 19:00

My Nan had a teasmade, in thinking that’s the same concept and I love it 😂 I mean, with the baby I get abruptly woken up but I can dream of mornings laid in bed with a coffee.

I definitely don’t have good skincare products, I do cheap and whatever boots has on offer. So that’s a good one!
