Do you own something you would rave about?

I’m going to be thirty soon. I’m married with a dog and a baby. Lots of people asking what I want for my birthday but honestly I have no idea. I’m thinking perhaps I’m missing out on things I have no idea exist. Do you own something that you absolutely love and would recommend to others?

(Before you all ask what I’m into... nothing particularly crazy! I watch TV, I read, I bake, I do yoga and pilates, go for the odd run, I also cook and clean, I used to shower and make myself look nice until about five weeks ago...)

My favourite presents for milestone birthdays have been a decent watch and a beautiful painting.

My Lumie wake up alarm.
7 years and I still love it.

Ooh I love this kind of thread
I would LOVE
Massage vouchers (at a nice place)
Bottle of pouilly fumée wine
L’occitane cherry blossom bath & shower gel, almond refillable shampoo & conditioner, liquid hand soap
Lots of pink peppercorn tonic water & a bottle of grey goose vodka
The latest books by Marian Keyes, Barbara king silver & Kate Atkinson
Jo Malone peony & blush rose candle
Elemis collection of skin care Marine range
And everyone to fuck off for a week to enjoy them

Also, I have a folder of my favourite paintings by my 3 year old - I would love them done & framed via the doodle spot app.

I second the teasmade, I have one in the bedroom. It’s brilliant.
And the lumie alarm clock & ipl machine

Bluetooth earbuds. I can have one in and listen to an audiobook/podcast during night feeds/while the kids are having independent playtime but still be available to them.
My kitchenaid. DH bought it for my for my 31st and I use it every second day. Love it.

I haven't got the Dyson air wrap but I've got the Supersonic which I would definitely recommend, especially if you have long ish / thick hair.

This is something for your baby but really it's something for your home and you as well - a Totter and Tumble play mat. Look lovely and you will use it long past when your DC are little.

I also have a Michael Kors handbag which I love and a few years after getting it (for my 30th birthday!) it's still like new despite every day use.

If you do yoga have you got really nice accessories? I bought myself a rubber travel yoga mat and cork block and both are lovely. Do you like perfume? I got a perfume sample subscription from Bloom Perfumery a few years ago, it was brilliant, although poor DH then got presented with a list of perfumes I wanted full bottles of at the end of the year! What about a nice bag or shoes or jewellery to mark the big 30. Planning on getting myself a nice watch for my 50th.

I've fine hair and a big birthday coming up, I've hovered over the dyson airwrap a few times and this thread is making me think so it

Goingunderground2 · 29/04/2020 19:38

Kitchenaid mixer - I love it! And use it lots more than I ever anticipated

Pourmeawine23 · 29/04/2020 19:38

I’m 30 next year and would really like a summerhouse for my birthday. Normally I don’t bother but I’ve wanted one for years, somewhere to escape to. I can’t wait! Also fancy a Dyson hairwrap but I’d like to try before I buy incase it’s not for me.

Graphista · 29/04/2020 21:02

For my 30th I got some gorgeous unique, made to order jewellery from then husband and a group of friends I’m close to, parents got me a good watch but actually the main thing I enjoyed was what I did to celebrate as I was mum to a toddler and hadn’t been out much the previous couple of years and I went to a concert I really wanted to and also a murder mystery weekend which was great fun.

Tricky at the moment I know but maybe to actually do next year?

My dd is mad about a certain comedian and I got her tickets for her tour for her birthday but the actual event wasn’t until months later.

I don’t really have anything I would rave about either, I’d be lost without my phone and tablet but most people especially of your age already have those

Oh I love my echo dot too.

Vouchers I would NOT recommend at the moment, we’ve no way of knowing which businesses will survive this and which won’t. Debenhams, Cath kidston and several other huge long established brands are looking like/said they’re in trouble. Cash would be better.

For my 30th I got a piano.
For my 40th a leather zip around Filofax.
For my 45th an important handbag.
For my 50th an important pen.

All things that I decided, have lasted and get used almost daily.
