I didn't realise she was due already. Baby boy born this morning!

Instead he has had an illness, Brexit is going tits up, a pandemic, a new baby, and none of the glory he was hoping for. You forgot the floods. It's almost biblical isn't it.

Pogmella · 29/04/2020 14:57

@HalfTermHalfTerm if people continue to call her his mistress after they’re married it will be far too confusing when he meets the next one!

JKScot4 · 29/04/2020 14:58

It’s quite laughable all the shock at Ms Symonds being called unmarried, mistress etc when MN tear anyone apart that is the OW and lecture constantly to get married before kids.
If this was a post on MN
“ I’m having an affair with a married man who has a string of kids, women behind him and now I’m pregnant”
Imagine the responses 🙄
@CendrillonSings rein in your story worship it’s quite sad, although 18m voted Tory, 17m didn’t. 18m greedy, selfish ignorant voters, who probably clap on a Thursday 🙄🙄

1forsorrow · 29/04/2020 14:58

It amazes me how the highly paid NHS procurement teams have not come in for any flack over any shortages! I don't think they have a budget for that, isn't preparation for this sort of emergency a function of govt?

ducksback · 29/04/2020 15:00

greedy, selfish ignorant voters

A little off topic but it was the Left's absolute disdain for their core voters which helped propel Boris to power.

OldLace · 29/04/2020 15:04

It's good news for the parents and the immediate family when a baby arrives safely. No one would wish anything else for strangers either.

It's sad that Boris Johnson made his horrible views on the children of unmarried mothers so clear. I wonder if the irony of that escapes him?

I care that 'my' PM is racist, sexist and homophobic and also chooses to slur sections of society this way. And that he seems a raging hypocrite, given sketchy personal morals and history of Fatherhood.

But what matters is his ability to do a decent job as PM right now.
I have my doubts, but I hope to be proved wrong.

JanewaysBun · 29/04/2020 15:07

So he currently has 6 children now right?
4 with wife no 2
1 from an affair 10 years ago
This one

Or are there others?

No idea how he keeps track of it all...

HalfTermHalfTerm · 29/04/2020 15:12

@Pogmella I do hope that doesn’t happen, but given his track record you may well be correct.

1forsorrow · 29/04/2020 15:22

Mind you... to put this all in context, I didn't care a fig about Leo Blair being born either, apart from he was born safely. I think Gordon Brown was Chancellor when his children were born, I'm pretty sure it was when he was living at No 10. The Browns had a lot of sadness, first child dying when just a few weeks old and the youngest (I think it was the youngest) with CF. It must have been so hard when in the public eye, I think the last I remember reading the little boy was doing well.

David Cameron and his wife also had a baby when he was PM.

So along with Leo it is not unusual to have babies arriving in Downing St.

These comments are exactly the same as the ones on the DM website. Except this is supposed to be a parenting website. I'm not a great Boris or Carrie fan but is a new born baby fair game for nastiness?

Shockers · 29/04/2020 15:30

I don’t think anyone is being nasty about the actual child, are they?

Strong swimmers do not necessarily a good father make. I don’t understand why anyone would think BJ is suddenly some kind of man of the people/ hero because he shagged someone and later became unwell. He’s still the same twat who cheered when the nurses’ pay rise was rejected.

BuddleiaTime · 29/04/2020 15:34

He's also the same chap who dumped his wife as she was recovering from cancer to go off with his friend's girlfriend. She was devastated when she heard about the baby.

But then he was married to someone else when she got pregnant by him.

It's a bit like Eastenders.

Helmetbymidnight · 29/04/2020 15:38

I still haven't seen all these vile, nasty, horrifying and sickening comments directed at a new born baby that are on here apparently.

I guess Boris's comments - that the baby is more likely to be aggressive, ill raised, ignorant were pretty vile, nasty, horrifying and sickening - especially as it was part of an argument to cut the welfare state.

I didn't know that we were not to talk about people who are 'new' parents on here. That's going to be awkward.

derxa · 29/04/2020 15:39

My mother was born in the late 1920's and her father didn't live with her or my grandmother even though they were married. Gossip and stigma lived with her for the rest of her life even though she had nothing to be ashamed of. People on here going on about the baby being 'illegitimate' are just as nasty as those small village gossips who plagued my mother.
Boris's treatment of women has been appalling but that's not the baby's fault.

Walkingtohealth · 29/04/2020 15:41

Glad the baby has been born safely. Hope Mum and baby are both well following birth.

Sounds like the baby may be early but as long as he’s healthy he should do well.

Alsohuman · 29/04/2020 15:44

I repeat peppermint no human being is illegitmate

Any human being whose parents are unmarried when they’re born is illegitimate. No amount of political correctness can change facts.

derxa · 29/04/2020 15:55

Any human being whose parents are unmarried when they’re born is illegitimate. I believe the current term is 'non marital birth'.

boomchikawowwow · 29/04/2020 15:56

Wow this thread has taken quite a turn!

OP posts:
Alsohuman · 29/04/2020 16:00

It may be the “current” term. That doesn’t negate the historic one.

YearOfTheCrone · 29/04/2020 16:01

It's a bit like Eastenders

Thank goodness The Jeremy Kyle show has been dumped.

1forsorrow · 29/04/2020 16:04

I now realise how old I am, when I was young illegitimate was generally considered the polite name for the child of unmarried parents, I suppose love child was the nicest but I thought it wasn't nice to assume that children born to married parents wasn't a love child. As it is in no something the child has any say in it is probably best not to use labels.

Devlesko · 29/04/2020 16:04

Yep illegitimate is what this baby is, along with any other child born outside marriage, it's a term.
Better than the previous term used. bastard baby is technically right but doesn't sound nice, illegitimate is for the toffs. I presume they both are, toffs.
All that expensive education, and for what, such awful morals. I'd be ashamed if I was his parents and pissed off at all that wasted money.

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/04/2020 16:10

True, we did used to use the term illegitimate and I’m sure Bozo is well versed in this term both due to his age and more importantly this not being his first child out of wedlock. However, I find it’s usage rather crass and am so pleased it has fallen out of use - it somewhat puts the burden of blame on the child.... if there should be any blame.

derxa · 29/04/2020 16:13

Do people on here gossip over the garden fence about Mary down the road who's just had a baby with her partner? Do you say that the baby is 'illegitimate'? Really?
