Three adults in the house - how much milk per week?

We seem to be going through an average of 20 pints a week, pretty much all in tea/coffee (porridge or pancakes on a Sunday morning maybe). That doesn't even include all the milk dd & I drink as we're both working out of the house around 3 days a week (key workers).

Never counted before as I don't usually shop weekly, but I'm now wondering how much tea per day is too much!

2 adults
2 teens 1 who eats adult portions
Child who eats adult portions.
About 8 pints a day with everyone home but normally it's about 4 pints a day.
I'm buying 4 bottles of milk at a time atm.

Luckily we have a house cow! (Well actually 2!)

We bring in approx 3 litres daily for 2 adults and 4 dc who are currently here out of 6.

Usually we use a bit more and also supply my friend with theirs (but not at the moment)

3 adults, 2 pints. I don't drink hot drinks. I use a bit of milk in porridge some but not every morning. DH has a couple of cups of tea a day. DD drinks no milk, very occasional porridge eater.

ChaoticCatling · 29/04/2020 12:56

We get through 3 litres of milk and 1 litre of kefir a week between an adult and a teenager.

Magicshoppingtrolley · 29/04/2020 13:02

Three of us here and we get through 10- 11 pints. DD has half a pint for breakfast and then on her cereal too.

H1978 · 29/04/2020 13:14

3 adults 2 kids we need 8 pints a week
Dd3(9yrs) and dd1(18yrs) dislike cereal so mainly for tea/coffee, pancakes, custard and sauces

notanotherpandemic · 29/04/2020 13:15

We're getting through 5-6 points, usually it's 4 pints a week. Think it's due to everyone been home more and DD making the odd thing that requires milk.

Rockbird · 29/04/2020 15:09

Between 16 and 20 pints a week. Two adults, one adult sized dd and a smaller dd. We have tea intravenously, DH and I have porridge and dd2 loves cereal. Definitely worse now we're all at home.

rosiethehen · 29/04/2020 15:12

Four adults here and we're getting through around 28 pints a week 😱 I buy 7 of those 4 litre containers.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 29/04/2020 15:34

2 adults 2 primary aged children here. Get through 10 pints a week. DD drinks very little but DS will have cereal 2/3 days a week. Adults and DS has a couple of cups of tea a day. I have porridge at weekends. We also bake a bit.

ErickBroch · 29/04/2020 15:40

I sound so stupid but how do you have a 'very strong' and 'very milky' tea??? you can't have both? lol

Fanthorpe · 29/04/2020 15:45

This thread has stunned me.

Bubblesbubblesmybubbles · 29/04/2020 15:49

I can easily go through 20 alone if i cook with it Blush i get very boring pregnancy cravings and milk is one of them

Wincher · 29/04/2020 15:51

Wow! I have two kids (6 and 9) who normally have a glass or two of milk each and a bowl or two of cereal, and at the moment DH and I are drinking all our teas and coffees at home of course. Plus I use some in cooking. But even with that we only get through about 14 pints a week!

Rockbird · 29/04/2020 16:00

You can have strong and milky. I've been having it for over 40 years!

Magic2020 · 29/04/2020 16:17

2 adults, 2 teens and get through 2 pints a day, so 14 pints a week? But the teens seem to eat their own body weight in cereal (even worse when they go to school, the first thing they do when they come back is raid the cereal cupboard).

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 29/04/2020 16:34

strength of a drink is down to how much coffee used, or how long the tea steeps, milkiness is defined by how much milk is added.

milky does not necessarily equal weak.

Troels · 29/04/2020 17:32

Two adults and a 15 year old in our house we use 16 -18 pints a week, Dd still has a drink of milk, we like porridge and drink lots of tea and coffee. If we have some left over I make custard.

Imonaplane · 29/04/2020 17:45

Four adults here - we use between 24 and 30 pints per week. Two of us drink it and the rest goes in tea or coffee, on cereal or in cooking.

HoppyHop · 30/04/2020 00:27

3 adults, 2 kids. 9pints delivered was enough before lockdown. Now it seems they are mainlining hot chocolate so topping up with (at least) another 4pints per week.

ShouldWeChangeTheBulb · 30/04/2020 00:32

8 pints (2 adults 2 kids) that’s tea and coffee all day, the kids drink glasses of the stuff and all the sauces, porridge cereal etc. I can’t possibly imagine how you drink 20 pints.

SpaceCadet4000 · 30/04/2020 01:52

My jaw is dropping at this thread- milk isn't even on our shopping list. We just buy 1 half pint of cream for DH's coffee. I literally never touch the stuff, I'd even struggle with getting through a pint of plant-based milk in a week.

I'm now worried about my nutrition!
