How long did your dc spend outside today?

I just realised my dc went outside today to play at 11.00and didn't come inside (unless for the toilet) until dinner at 6.30!!! 🤣 I love days like that!!

Mine probably spent the same amount of time outside, and for that I'm really grateful. I genuinely cannot imagine how hard these times must be for those who cannot easily give their DC time outside.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 25/04/2020 20:04

About the same amount of time. DS9 loves being outside and would happily potter about all day.

DS14 went out for around 12 minutes, hissed at the sun, wrapped himself in a blanket under the parasol then scuttled back indoors shouting about FaceTiming his mates.

randomwans · 25/04/2020 20:04

@lettheshadows I know,Sadit must be so tough

Zero minutes

ItchySeveredFoot · 25/04/2020 20:08

Most of the day. Luckily we bought a trampoline before all this started. I've also just ordered swingball.

LeaderoftheAteam · 25/04/2020 20:08

Can I ask how old they are and what they were playing/what activities? Would love ours to be out a little more but unless I'm out with them they arent intersted for long. We have a sand table but not lots else outside so want to encourage play.

SquigglePigs · 25/04/2020 20:11

DD is 16 months old. She had an hour and half in pram walking and then napping in the garden. Then she had an hour playing outside with DH this afternoon. Most days are similar, although naps are variable!

audweb · 25/04/2020 20:13

None. We live in a flat without a garden, so she can only go out with me for a walk or cycle. She’s not keen to do that a lot but I am trying to encourage it at least every other day. When restrictions ease she’ll play out with her friends.

Bagelsandbrie · 25/04/2020 20:13

Ds is 7 and played in the garden with the hosepipe for about an hour and we also went for a very long rural walk all together for about an hour an a half.

NickMarlow · 25/04/2020 20:14

A lot less today than the rest of the week. Went for a walk in the morning and the 1yo cut her knee fairly dramatically so that was the end of that. And then some water play etc in the garden later - probably an hour in total?

Has been more like 3 hours a day all week, but mine are young with a garden that isn't safe to leave the little one in for long unsupervised so that restricts them a bit.

cupcakehurricane101 · 25/04/2020 20:14

Do you have a garden? Or just out and about all day?
We usually go out for around 3 hours, by the time we've walked across fields and round the park, stop for a snack then it's about 3 hours, the kids walk very slowly!

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 25/04/2020 20:15

Today...
7yo spent an hour working on her flower paintings
7yo&8yo spent an hour in their den
7yo&8yo spent an hour on the trampoline
8yo read in the hammock for a bit
They had lunch outside
Other bits of random playing

Mylittlepony374 · 25/04/2020 20:16

I've been outside with my 2 toddlers all day. I've spent a lot of it counting my blessings and wondering how the fuck people with toddlers and no garden are coping during lockdown.

Theonewiththecat · 25/04/2020 20:17

DD (10) went out at about 11 for half an hour, she played with the tennis bat and ball. Chalked all over the patio and then came in and had some lunch, and then went back out from half 1 until 4ish.
Some of the time she spent watching TV on her phone, but most of it she was playing with various things. She's loved this last week.

namechangenumber2 · 25/04/2020 20:18

DS1(16) - 2/3 hours helping in the garden, eating lunch on the patio

DS2 (11) - I'm not sure he's been out at all...

Waxonwaxoff0 · 25/04/2020 20:21

DS was at his dad's today who has a garden. That's why I'm so keen for him to keep his visits up with his dad during lockdown as he gets more outdoor time. I live in a flat so it's usually just an hour when we go out for a walk. Nothing I can do about it unfortunately.

randomwans · 25/04/2020 20:22

@LeaderoftheAteam they are 5 and 7, they were making a den, playing in said den, on the swing, slide. Etc, trampoline. Playing with garden toys and helping us with gardening. Finding bugs and climbing trees is a daily occurrence too.

OP posts:
randomwans · 25/04/2020 20:25

@cupcakehurricane101 yes we have a very large garden with lots of trees for climbing, and a part of it is quite wild. We did also go for a shortish walk too though.

NerrSnerr · 25/04/2020 20:25

Mine are 3 and 5 and spent about an hour outside. We don't have a huge outside space but they're at school/ nursery 3 times a week and spend much of the day outside so it's not so bad for them.

ListenLinda · 25/04/2020 20:25

An hour this morning, then from 1.30ish til about 5pm following the sun around the front and back garden 😂

ChaBishkoot · 25/04/2020 20:26

8 and 3. About 3 hours. I don’t know what they were doing. Playing some imaginary game I assume. I don’t get involved in any way unless an argument really escalated.

Silversun83 · 25/04/2020 20:31

DC are 2 and nearly 4 and we had about an hour outside this morning walking/running/exploring the woods and then the eldest went out into the garden at about 2pm, was joined by the youngest an hour later (after his nap), then both out until just after 4. So about 2-3 hours.

We always do the hour in the morning but the afternoons in the garden are probably 50/50 - have a small courtyard garden and although we have a small climbing frame, paddling pool and tuff table out there, it's not one they can eg spend ages running around in.

Maybe it's just the weather but I do feel as though we're actually spending more time outside than we usually do.

Crimsonnightlotus · 25/04/2020 20:33

Preteen. In and out. Longest one was about 30 minutes, running up and down the garden since started to worry about putting on some weight due to too much eating. Others were watering the flowers, fighting imaginary monster with sticks, or whatever. Most of the time indoors playing game.

imamearcat · 25/04/2020 20:34

3 and 4yo out for a couple of ours this morning, then came in for lunch and had a chill, youngest had a nap. Came back out at 2.30 and didn't go in til about 7.

cupcakehurricane101 · 25/04/2020 20:34

@randomwans yes I just saw the garden part, I find myself a skim reader on these message boards.
Sounds lovely 😊 we don't have a garden.id I didn't I'd be putting them outside and locking the door 😅 and throw snacks from the window!
