He's exactly what I need in these strange times, so calming
Plus he has a new dog!

My daft Aunt reckoned he knew nothing about gardening. She must have seen him somewhere (she did not have a tv). I think he was the 'chair' in a questione time (not gardener's question time but something lik)e. She has been to Chelsea a few times so maybe there. Anyway, he wasn't answering the questions, but the panel were so therefore "he obviously knows nothing about gardening".

I couldn't be doing with Adam at first, I found him a bit too cheeky chappie, and I find men like that tedious in or out of the bed garden. But I've massively, massively grown to like him. The big fat arse of a cat sealed the deal for me, Adam is a good un.

I love Monty, he is so peaceful and gentlemanly. He also seems incredibly uxorious, which is adorable and I like to see it in a man.

Rachel de Thame is a goddess. There are no words. I want to be her when I grow up. Frances is my style inspo.

I'm a total pleb and wouldn't know one end of Chelsea garden show from another, I shall worship them from afar Flowers

Just heard that Nigel has died.
We thought he was looking his age on Friday.

LizzieMacQueen · 11/05/2020 20:59

Saw that too @SpringFan. Sad indeed.

Horsemad · 11/05/2020 21:00

😢

whatswithtodaytoday · 11/05/2020 21:09

So, so sad about Nigel. I had to hold back tears when I found out. I did wonder though, if Pattie was bought in as a replacement when the time came.

GW is one of the few TV shows I watch (other than endless Cbeebies). It's so relaxing. I wasn't keen on Adam at all at first, I thought he was putting on the accent a bit strong and wasn't as nice and calming as Monty. But I quite enjoyed the episodes he's drive recently, he seems to have settled into things a bit more.

I love Monty's little gardens within a garden, the writing garden and jewel garden are my two favourites and I love to see them come to life each year.

Oh poor Nigel! We were also saying on at last episode he looked tired, sadly lost our 15yo dog a few months ago, so this has really made me so sad.

SpringFan · 11/05/2020 21:19

OH yes, he was funny.
Am going to miss Nigel, my adult DC watch GW for him and Nellie.

FlamingoAndJohn · 11/05/2020 22:29

It’s going to be very painful on Friday.
I cried and I don’t mind admitting it.

PuttingoutthefirewithGasoline · 11/05/2020 23:22

I went through a phase of finding him quite dishy.

But now I also find him very calming, sorry Alan I much prefer him to you

PuttingoutthefirewithGasoline · 11/05/2020 23:24

Who is Adam? Is he the one with the large square garden somewhere like cotswold

FlamingoAndJohn · 12/05/2020 09:55

Adam is the guy with big hands but no shoulders.
He has a cat and the garden seems to be a big walled affair.

Horsemad · 13/05/2020 10:57

Adam lives in Lincolnshire, near Stamford, his house is gorgeous.

mencken · 13/05/2020 10:59

can't stand dogs after lots of hassle - in most cases.

ridiculously upset about Nigel, a dog I never met! Possibly because he was quiet, well behaved and full of character, and clearly very well looked after.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/05/2020 11:03

Nigel had the advantage of never being seen crapping anywhere. Perfect dog.
RIP.

Horsemad · 13/05/2020 11:10

He was a truly gorgeous boy.

FuzzyPuffling · 13/05/2020 11:17

Do you think Nellie misses him?

Horsemad · 13/05/2020 11:22

I should think so. 😢 It's sad when a pet's companion dies, you can't really explain it to them. Hopefully the new dog will help, although I wish they'd got another retriever 🙂

DeborahAnnabelToo · 13/05/2020 11:22

I feel a bit daft being so sad about Nigel. He was the perfect companion to Monty: both so calm, calming and dignified. I bet Nellie will miss him too.

0DETTE · 13/05/2020 11:50

Another one feeling sad and also feeling daft about it.

FlamingoAndJohn · 13/05/2020 16:05

Nellie has been breaking my heart on Twitter.

Thank God for Monty Don
IntermittentParps · 13/05/2020 16:07

I've never watched GW but I love Monty. I wish he'd ditch the unflattering baggy linen clobber though.

CafetiereCoffee · 14/05/2020 23:02

I have gone all weepy watching that film Davros
