How to clean my butt? TMI

Im really struggling to keep clean after pooping. I am on iron tablets which makes my BM very black, soft and tar like and I also have piles. Wiping with tissue never fully cleans, or takes forever and is painful. Sometimes I just jump in the shout, but it’s a pain.

Is there a flushable wipe that is actually flushable yet? I obviously don’t want to be flushing normal wipes. I also don’t really like the idea of using wipes and putting them in the bin.

Have you tried wet tissue?

Awkwarddough · 24/04/2020 08:45

@greyishdays yes and it probably the best solution so far, but it’s quite delicate and tears easily Blush

I literally just saw a handheld bidet on wish!

I was told by a GP to sit on the loo with a bowl of warm, lightly soapy water and literally wash myself by hand and dab with a towel. Felt so much easier and comfortable

Loo roll very slightly dampened with warm water.

You can get flushable wipes from Sainsbury's but you can only flush one at a time or the loo will block. Also not great environmentally of course.

firsttimekat · 24/04/2020 08:50

Have you considered reusable wipes? Something like cheeky wipes? We started using them and I feel so much cleaner. Just chuck them in the washing machine, I do them on their own but says you can wash with other things.

This Amazon link is for lota jugs which are designed for this exact purpose. If you scroll down the list the is also a portable bidet sprayer.
If you can afford it, cheeky wipes for drying off.

No wet wipes are flushable. Even though some of them claim to be.
You'd be better off with an attachment on your loo. They are inexpensive and easy to fit.
Or even a handheld one.

Awkwarddough · 24/04/2020 08:56

Thanks all!

We have cheeky wipes for the baby, for weaning and wees. I don’t think I’m ready to use them on poop yet! Blush

However I bought a hand bidet squeeze thing for when I gave birth!! I never even thought about using it for this! What a great idea :D

I used to use home made (well fleece cut into squares) wipes for DS. They would be very soft on the bum.

You could also get some cheap flannels, thinner ones are best and use them to wash or keep them to dry

whatdoyoudonow · 24/04/2020 09:19

Andrex washlets.
They are flushable wipes.

AsDA do their own version too.

dementedpixie · 24/04/2020 09:19

A bit of body lotion on toilet roll rips less than water on toilet roll

Washlets may say they are flush able but they arent really as they dont break down like toilet roll. We use them but they go in a lidded bin rather than down the toilet

Bagelsandbrie · 24/04/2020 09:26

I know this isn’t what you’re asking but have you spoken to a GP about this- even at the moment with coronavirus going on you should be able to get a telephone appointment? For things to be like this the piles must be pretty bad, I would ask for some treatment for them. Piles can be incredibly painful if left untreated- surgery is available for the worst ones but even prescription creams etc may help.

dementedpixie · 24/04/2020 09:30

Wipes need this mark on to say they're safe to flush

Try some Aveeno body lotion on loo paper

welshweasel · 24/04/2020 09:31

If you’re already using cheeky wipes then use them! Honestly it’s no biggie using them for poo - just have a separate bin you chuck them in then every few days wash them in the machine.

AnotherMurkyDay · 24/04/2020 09:50

I just use baby wipes, put them in a nappy bag and throw away. I try to get biodegradable but not very environmentally friendly I know.

Awkwarddough · 24/04/2020 11:50

@Bagelsandbrie thanks for your concern. I already have cream which helps keep them calm(ish) but I must say I’m not very good at using it all the time!

dementedpixie · 24/04/2020 11:52

Cream on toilet roll would be quite soothing too. And safe to flush. I've also used micellar water on toilet roll and it works ok too

Fifthtimelucky · 24/04/2020 19:05

I try to time things so that I go just before my shower. But we also use Andrex washlets (but don't flush them)

MiniChoc · 25/04/2020 18:57

I use Andrex Washlets, but fold them into tissue and pop in the bin.
