Would you have said no as well?

Delivery driver today visibly uncomfortable in some way asked to use our toilet - I felt bad but had to say no as apart from the CV risk currently i wasn’t sure if he may have had a bad stomach? I have young dc who aren’t well so can’t risk it.
I felt bad after but I think anyone at this time would have said no wouldn’t they

Germ risk aside from CV or noro etc etc

To clean it after would have takem a lot of time and effort when I have dc to look after one who can’t be unsupervised/won’t let go of me So it would be really difficult and I’d then have to get changed and just feel stressed out and worry for days had I done it well enough that nobody would get ill
Plus if it had smelt bad it would have triggered off asd issues with one dc who can’t stand smells
I do feel really really bad esp knowing what I do if IBS but I couldn’t have let him in not at the current time especially

'We don't have a toilet'
I spat out my drinkGrin. So funny.

Spied · 22/04/2020 12:10

'I wouldn't let an innocent person shit themselves'Grin
This thread is great.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 22/04/2020 12:13

Blimey it must be so rubbish for delivery drivers at the minute. I mean everyone should be able to go to the toilet and normally the public (well the normal ones not so much the batshit of mumsnet that think a toilet isn’t for toilet things) are willing to let the poor guys or gals use the loo.

It’s harsh isn’t it come and deliver my parcel in the middle of a pandemic but you can’t use the toilet

FabulouslyElegantTits · 22/04/2020 12:17

I'm confused 🤷🏼‍♂️ ... we are having it drummed into us not to let anyone into our home or visit anyone else's home. Yet, people are letting random delivery folk -I've never seen the same DPD man - come in and shit/cough/sneeze/piss in our bathrooms.

I feel his pain, but I'd rather the delivery driver shit himself than inadvertently bring CV into my house.

Non Corona times, I would be hesitant, if DH was in or if I had friends round, I'd be okay about it though

Sparklesocks · 22/04/2020 13:27

It's happened now OP so I wouldn't dwell on it either way.

PurpleSprain · 22/04/2020 13:49

It would have been a definite no from me too. I also would have felt a bit bad about it but it wouldn't have lasted long!

Honestly, the people suggesting that the OP is in some way morally obliged to allow a strange man into her home that she shares with her children - and who knows whether any other adults - at any time (let alone in the current circumstances where that goes directly against the rules laid out for everyone's protection) need to take a good look at themselves.

I fear this is the kind of female conditioning bullshit that #bekind reinforces (I notice someone has invoked it up thread!). How about #bereasonable and #beconfidentinyourownboundaries instead?

PurpleSprain · 22/04/2020 13:54

Buy while we're here, there's some guy called Ted hanging around here with a cast on his arm who needs help taking some shopping to the car - volunteers please? #bekind

SouthWestmom · 22/04/2020 13:58

We had an engineer who used the loo and left it reeking for the rest of the day! I was irrationally furious with my mum for letting him use it - she was visiting. He was there for ages and it was sooooo awkward.

So I'd probably agree and then seethe afterwards while bleaching everything.

Bbq1 · 22/04/2020 14:17

Poor man, but I would have probably said no. I understand how he could have felt because I have a medical condition where I can need to go urgently, can't wait I have had to run onto pubs before now to go but asking to use someone's toilet is something else. As other have pointed out, though where can they go? Delivery drivers should be allowed to supermarket staff toilets atm.

knittingaddict · 22/04/2020 14:18

I would have said yes and then thoroughly cleaned the loo after he left. I have anti bac spray, kitchen towel and disposable gloves and it wouldn't have taken that long to do. I have IBS, so that probably makes a difference to my answer.

LimitIsUp · 22/04/2020 14:52

Ulver - I don't know where to go with your ignorant comment "am I the only one who can go 8 hours .... etc"

Seriously?
I can often go that long, but sometimes, out of the blue I can get severe abdominal cramping and then have literally minutes to find a loo. All of that with no warning.

You have heard of IBS I take it?Lets hope you don't get to experience it one day (mine hasn't been life long, so it could happen to you)

HollowTalk · 22/04/2020 14:53

I can't believe people would say no!

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/04/2020 14:57

Poor bloke must have been mortified

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 22/04/2020 14:59

These guys have to do 100 drops in double quick time, do they have a canteen and toilet facilities? I couldnt have refused. Did you want him to pop behind a hedge?

FabulouslyElegantTits · 22/04/2020 15:16

@HollowTalk

I can't believe people would say 'yes' ... have you not heard a word Boris has said!

BunnytheHoneyBee · 22/04/2020 15:21

What do delivery drivers usually do for the loo? Go to a cafe or something?

Ulver · 22/04/2020 15:31

LimitIsUp
I have had IBS thank you and I’ve stayed at home.
Nice of you to wish illness on others in the middle of a pandemic.
In which we are supposed to be social distancing and the runs is a symptom of the virus?
Is a complete strangers comfort more important to you than your families Health?
A grown man can work out where to crap and how long it takes to get there. It’s not my problem.

peppermintcapsules · 22/04/2020 15:37

Oh, you don't have to apologise, Xylophone, MN is a different planet, yeah, I'd so let in some random strange man whilst I was alone in the house with my kids and had only one bathroom and it was upstairs. And during a pandemic and in lockdown. Nope. My days of cleaning up other people's shit are over, too, much less when there's a fucking pandemic on and we've all been told NOT to allow anyone in who's not a member of your household. Incredible, all the judgemental and sanctimonious threads about violating lockdown but when it comes to a man putting on he has to shit women just roll right over 'poor thing' and tales of IBS and all sorts and pouring on the scorn and shame on a woman on her own with the kids and one loo upstairs. Because no one's ever used that as a ruse to get into someone's house, much less alone upstairs in a house with a woman on her own with the kids.

Snakeshoes · 22/04/2020 16:31

It was worth reading this thread for the OP nearly saying 'we don't have a toilet' Grin

LimitIsUp · 22/04/2020 16:31

You absolutely don't have IBS ulver - no one with IBS would say "Am I the only one who can go 8 hours without a crap"

And I didn't wish ill health on you, you muppet. I said let's hope you don't develop IBS (which is patently different to saying "I hope you get IBS")

Ulver · 22/04/2020 17:06

LimitIsUp
I think I will rely on my doctor for diagnosis not some random on the Internet.
I obviously went through a colonoscopy for the fun of it 🙄.
Give over I said if and when I had a problem I would and did stay at home.
I don’t know you are so angry that others are different to you in their approach.
Feel free to allow multitudes of strangers to shit in your toilet at every hour of the night and day.
I literally give no shits if you do.
I personally would not.

JMAngel1 · 22/04/2020 17:09

I would absolutely have let him use the loo

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/04/2020 17:14

So you’re happy for delivery drivers to have to work so you can get your parcels but would deny them using a bathroom? Cleaning would have taken minutes after and you could have asked him to touch as little as possible if worried.

lastqueenofscotland · 22/04/2020 17:23

I would have let him and just given the place a good clean after
