HELP- Just found some kittens!

ISpeakJive · 20/04/2020 09:45

Posting here for advice. I live across a park and just found two kittens under a tree.
Their eyes have just opened and they seem well fed. However, I haven’t seen their mum yet. I only spotted them half an hour ago so may be too early but just in case I’m dealing with abandoned kittens what would I need to do?
A few things to note. I’m in a warm Mediterranean country and it’s a Bank Holiday over here so my resources are pretty limited.
Thank you.

I'm in uk otherwise I'd have them! Aww they are beautiful. Well done and good luck with them.

flourella · 22/04/2020 15:14

I've never had a cat, let alone bottle fed kittens, but I love them so follow a lot of cat fosterers on Instagram. I assume you are feeding them appropriate formula if you have seen a vet, but it looks as though you have them on their backs and kittens should feed on their fronts, as they would from their mother. They can aspirate fluid into their lungs when fed like human babies. Kitten Lady has some excellent videos on YouTube on all aspects of hand-rearing kittens, including toileting etc. Kittens that age can't go properly on their own.

Forgive me if I'm seeing the pictures wrong and they are not being fed on their backs. It's just how it looks to me and that is dangerous. They are beautiful, and very lucky that you saw them and are willing to help.

Oh I am so glad they had someone like you to make sure they was safe. They must have been so scared and hungry Sad

2 free pets, what’s not to like?.

Do their ears waggle when you feed them?.

HavenDilemma · 22/04/2020 15:33

Awwwwww I wish you were near here, I'd take them :(

Costacoffeeplease · 22/04/2020 15:41

Most kittens will find their own feeding position. Mine have usually fed upright, standing on their back legs and almost holding the bottle with their front paws

acatcalledjohn · 22/04/2020 15:42

No advice to give but OP, you are bloody brilliant!

ISpeakJive · 22/04/2020 16:18

Oh my goodness! I’m so overwhelmed by the support. Thank you so much. To answer a few questions:

@Windyatthebeach no ddog I’m afraid but plenty of cuddly toys, if they count? Smile

@RubbishQueen I have no idea but I have three children who are changing their names daily so im hoping something will stick. I’m very open to ideas though.

@Costacoffeeplease Thanks very much. That’s what I’m doing so good to know I’m getting it right.

@missmouse101 I did read up on the stimulation and the vet showed me how to do it today. Thank you for the tip.

@flourella it does look like they’re on their backs but actually they are on their hind legs standing up. But thanks so much for the tip.

@Fluffycloudland77 I haven’t noticed the ears but I don’t think they do. One of them is purring though 😊

To everyone. Thanks for all your support. Will keep you posted.

Deathraystare · 23/04/2020 08:39

Are you in Greece by any chance?

Ha ha! I thought that immediately! Mind you , on Kefalonia my friend and I discovered a lovely place set up by a cat lover, cannot remember where though!

Thed cats we saw were beautiful, very Egyptian looking.

jane5621 · 23/04/2020 08:51

I think they look about 3/4 weeks old? Could you put some food out for the mum cat and keep an eye out, just in case she comes back and they hadn't been dumped? You are a really kind person doing this.

TitianaTitsling · 23/04/2020 08:59

Oh @ISpeakJive you are wonderful! Look at those wee faces!

nzeire · 23/04/2020 09:06
