Oh dear God my parcel is coming through Hermes...

Any guesses on when it might arrive? Will it even come to this house? Will they decide inside the bin is a safe spot?

I've had an email from them 'we've got your parcel and it's on it's way to you' but then when I enter that exact tracking number into the website they can't find it, so we're off to a nice typical Hermes start Grin

One of the Hermes guys is amazing. Leaves parcels in sensible places etc. The other one fuck me! I had a broken leg around Christmas and I bought something online.. 4 huge knocks on the door, I struggled to get down 3 flights of stairs to see brake lights in the distance! I left notes, I stuck something to the door. I slept on the sofa so I didn't miss the delivery. Still missed it as I was in the loo and the same thing happened. Ended up never getting it item and the seller didn't get their item back either, they had to refund me. I felt awful but I had a broken leg I couldn't exactly run!!

I've had an 'out for delivery' email so fingers crossed! Bin watch begins Wink It is tricky here, small front garden very visible from the street so naming a safe space is hard, 'under the hedge' is really the only option...which isn't very secure!

Our Hermes delivery man is lovely. Our dog adores him as he brings treats!

MinnieMountain · 18/04/2020 12:47

Mine was allegedly delivered this week, the email even said I signed for it. It was actually delivered the next day.

It seems entirely random as to whether or not the parcel arrives.

Powerplant · 18/04/2020 12:57

I ve had Hermes delivery last week all good and a Yodel one yesterday with no problems. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

1forAll74 · 18/04/2020 13:12

I ordered something from Avon a few days ago, just two bottles of bubble bath, one lip liner, one eyeliner, and some blusher. The cardboard box was huge and delivered by Hermes, and was not taped up in anyway at all. The top of the box was just flapping open. I found it outside my back door, looked inside the open box, and the cat from next door was asleep inside it. I did not order a cat, as already have three cats !!

BeansOnToast4T · 18/04/2020 13:42

I'm relieved when a parcel is being delivered by Hermes, our courier is brilliant.

mnahmnah · 18/04/2020 14:04

I arranged for Hermes to collect my Next returns, as the shops are closed. All good. Then. Few days later he delivered something else I was expecting. Except he actually returned my returns to me!!! So I had to arrange another collection to returns my returns Grin

CrowleysBentley · 18/04/2020 14:56

We never have any problems with hermes, our usual hermes delivery man is the older brother of one of my DS's friends, which probably helps.

Yodel on the other hand are the absolute worst. If stuff ever does get delivered, it's always damaged.

LastTrainEast · 18/04/2020 16:06

Hermes have something special against me. They will deliver to me, or if Amazon arrange it they will collect from me, but if I try and send a parcel nothing happens.

It has worked in the past, but the first time it went wrong was a year or so ago.

They took the money and gave me a pickup date and didn't turn up. I asked them why and they said they didn't know, but they'd look into it.

A few days later I asked and they said they were still trying to work out why it wasn't collected. A few days after that they still couldn't say IF or WHEN they'd be able to pick it up so they refunded me.

About six months later thinking it was just a glitch I tried to send another parcel and the same thing happened.

Recently because Hermes is cheaper I tried one more time and again they failed to collect and could not say why.

BearSoFair · 18/04/2020 16:43

Still no sign of them! You never get an early slot do you...

Hermes are great in our area

Moondust001 · 18/04/2020 16:55

My last two Yodel deliveries didn't turn up at all, despite the fact that I supposedly "signed for them". They appear to struggle with two things, the English language and technology. The didn't understand the simple sentence "No my dog (the only other resident in the house) did not sign for them when the invisible courier delivered it whilst STANDING UNDERNEATH MY CCTV camera right above the door which didn't show him there at all".

But my all time great was the Amazon courier who invisibly delivered a Surface Pro to my door and obtained a signature for it, whilst my CCTV camera detected nobody at all there and on a day when the whole of the area I lived in was totally cut off due to six foot snow drifts! Now that is dedication to duty.

CammieKennaway · 18/04/2020 17:05

Our local Hermes guy is wonderful - he waves through the window, knocks on the door and leaves it on the step and then goes and waits by my car until he knows we've brought it in
You might be lucky x

BearSoFair · 18/04/2020 17:07

Well I have to be honest and say that was my best experience with Hermes so far! Knocked on the door, parcel left just in front, courier standing at the gate to confirm my name. I'm impressed!

Phew! Pleased for you and your isolation miracle OP!

I’ve got 3 on their way (4 if Avon use Hermes too Confused). 1 of them was ordered prelockdown complete with ‘we have your parcel’ email... no trace since.

They don’t tend to use my bins for a hiding place, mine often end up on top of the porch whereas next doors end up being posted through my kitchen window falling directly into my sink!!

TheMarbleFaun · 18/04/2020 17:28

I got the email "we have your parcel" last Sunday
How long should I wait before chasing? (it was from H&M)

BearSoFair · 18/04/2020 18:09

Good luck those of you still waiting!

My Hermes delivery driver is great. Although thats if the parcel gets to her! Senders normally face issues with the Parcel shops themselves or the pick up drivers. Have had one too many lost parcels recently

Troels · 21/04/2020 10:45

I just had a email saying hermes is on it's way with my parcel, I had one last week too. It arrived when they said, our delivery person is really good and sticks them in the porch and knocks.
Hoping this one comes just as quick. I ordered art supplies for Dd yr 10 GSCE subject, but allowed an extra week for delivery so she hasn't run out just yet.

OldEvilOwl · 21/04/2020 10:50

I've never had any problems with them. The ones around here are great

CMOTDibbler · 21/04/2020 10:54

My Hermes courier is absolutely fabulous. Always cheery and goes the extra mile for everyone. He even has a FB page for people to contact him if they need to

nicslackey · 21/04/2020 10:55

Heart sank when I saw Yodel was delivering my parcel to be honest but no problems. Knocked loudly, retreated to gate and we waved to each other. One case of wine for consumption of!!!

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 21/04/2020 11:14

Our local Hermes courier is absolutely lovely and really reliable.

ginghamstarfish · 21/04/2020 11:18

I also dread it if it turns out my parcel will be delivered by Hermes, and most of the time you don't know until you've paid for the item. Ours rings the bell, waits 1 nanosecond, then chucks them in the manky old greenhouse at the side (must take longer than waiting at the door for me to answer.). I put a barrier across the greenhouse door, he moved it and chucked parcel in. I then put up a large sign saying 'do not leave in greenhouse, put on back doorstep' and another barrier ... he removed the barriers again. I'll have to demolish the greenhouse now.
