Any guesses on when it might arrive? Will it even come to this house? Will they decide inside the bin is a safe spot?

I've had an email from them 'we've got your parcel and it's on it's way to you' but then when I enter that exact tracking number into the website they can't find it, so we're off to a nice typical Hermes start Grin

Honestly our Hermes driver is great and we’ve never had a problem with them. I get an email when it’s been dispatched, then one when it’s on it’s way. Also the option to nominate a safe place to leave it. Always been delivered on time and safely. Royal Mail on the other hand.....

middleager · 18/04/2020 11:07

Thanks OP.

Our last delivery we waited in all day on a Sat until 5.30 when they said deliveries stop. We had a message to give us an hourly slot at 11am but that came and went.

We went out at 6 and came back later to find a note saying we'd missed them!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/04/2020 11:08

Our Hermes lady is brilliant.

My heart sinks when it’s a yodel delivery though.

TheVanguardSix · 18/04/2020 11:09

Do you know what? Hermes has really upped their game, imo. The past two years, I can't fault them in the least. Yodel's still being Yodel. They turn every delivery into a game of Pokemon Go!

GrimmsFairytales · 18/04/2020 11:09

I'd prefer Hermes over Royal Mail atm, they haven't delivered to my street in a week.

Same here. I've never had a problem with Hermes delivery, but it's very dependent on the local courier.

DogInATent · 18/04/2020 11:10

We've got a great local Hermes driver, but the one before him was a bit hit-and-miss.

Nquartz · 18/04/2020 11:12

Our guy is always within the time window, leaves it in the step, knocks & then stands well back. All very sensible!

JigsawsAreInPieces · 18/04/2020 11:12

We must be lucky here then as both Hermes and Yodel are great. Always pop the parcel in the enclosed porch, no issues.

Didn't have any problems in our old house either!

thanksamillion · 18/04/2020 11:15

Another one with a great Hermes driver here. He knows roughly what time I get home from work and often varies his route to make sure he catches me. He's also known on all the local Facebook groups so people get in touch with him there if they have issues.

tiredanddangerous · 18/04/2020 11:15

Hermes are great here. I don’t order from anywhere that uses yodel though. I recon you’ll be ok op. Best to look on the bright side Grin

wowjustwowyes17262 · 18/04/2020 11:18

It’s such luck of the draw, our Hermes yodel dpd etc are all fab, go to our local Facebook group and only a few streets away totally diff Hermes courier and they are apparently horrendous. We’ve had the same one for about 2/3 for Hermes.

Wishforsnow · 18/04/2020 11:19

Hermes have always been great for me and I get loads of deliveries

Millie2013 · 18/04/2020 11:22

They’re usually awful around here, to the point that I avoid companies who use them, as we’ve had parcels just not arrive. I ordered some stuff from John Lewis a couple of weeks back and forgot to check who the courier was...yup, Hermes
To my surprise, the parcel arrived on time, intact and was left in a sensible place. I almost fell over with shock

EnglishGirlApproximately · 18/04/2020 11:25

They delivered a Nintendo Switch to the wrong street last week Shock Luckily the people who received it were lovely and bought it round straight away when they realised it wasn't the parcel they'd been expecting. Unbelievable they're so careless, £400 of stuff in that parcel.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 18/04/2020 11:26

We may be lucky, but our Hermes deliveries have all been fine. Earlier this week, they emailed DH with a pic of Gary the parcel guy. Apparently he likes football and walking the dog. Amused me particularly as the parcel was delivered by a woman, not Gary with the beard. :)

Imboredinthehouse · 18/04/2020 11:27

My Hermes delivery man is brilliant. Always cheerful and smiling and leaves it by the back door or in the shed if we happen to be out.

MamaJoon · 18/04/2020 11:30

My Hermes driver left a small parcel in my locked electric box once, and I didn't have a key for it.

FurryPie · 18/04/2020 11:30

Is it do with area do you think? I prefer my Hermes deliveries over anything else, as the person that does my area is great, never had an issue (and I get a lot parcels).

Some of the stories I hear are awful though Shock

MillicentMartha · 18/04/2020 11:32

My Hermes man is great, too. He’s the dad of a girl who was in DS’s class in primary school 7 years ago so I vaguely know him. I put leave in (secure) porch (it isn’t secure) and he hides it behind the recycling box. I agree it’s completely dependent on who your local delivery person is.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 18/04/2020 11:33

I'd be thrilled if Hermes were delivering the parcels I'm waiting for. They're with Royal Mail so I'll probably get them at some point in 2022.

gingerbreadslice · 18/04/2020 11:34

This reminds me of when I ordered something last year at Xmas there was a slight tap at the door and I was just behind it luckily. I opened the door and there was my parcel the man had signed for me and was already in the lift with the doors starting to close. He must of been in and out in about 10 seconds!

imnottoofussed · 18/04/2020 11:36

My Hermes deliveries have always been fantastic. I've had only two drivers in the last ten years at this house and both have been excellent.

Wiaa · 18/04/2020 11:39

We had a monthly subscription that for 3mths in a row hermes were unable to deliver on 3 attempts each time as we wasn't in, i was very confused as i was in every time. The last month i actually sat in the front room with the tracker open and watched the van pull up outside and then the app updated to say unable to deliver. He only went a couple of doors down so i ran after him and he said he didn't have the parcel it was still at the depot he told me that he'd been to my house loads of times but the parcel was never on the van???? We just cancelled the subscription in the end

GreyHare · 18/04/2020 12:04

I have a fab Hermes driver, I love him, he can pull up and sneak down the drive without disturbing the dogs, he is ace.

LeoTimmyandVi · 18/04/2020 12:13

I also have a great Hermes delivery driver. She has common sense and tries to deliver at times she knows I am in. No complaints here - but good luck for your delivery Smile!
