I had a Peacock butterfly sitting on my outside kitchen windowsill a few minutes ago (please excuse the dirt). Must be the sunshine bringing them out of hibernation😊.

Yes, today! I only glimpsed it so not sure what type it was, but it was a dark colour. Also HUGE bumblebees, like helicopters!!

BlueGheko · 07/04/2020 19:16

Yes one was fluttering around me for ages just now when I was out for a cycle. Yesterday I woke up to the loudest buzzing I have ever heard coming from behind my blind, it was a huge bumble bee, god knows how it got in as my window was shut, don't worry I took it outside it stumbled around for a bit then flew off.

anothernotherone · 07/04/2020 19:17

CherryValance you're right! Blush DD identified it as a Tagpfauenauge and I just checked and that translates as a peacock butterfly Blush I'm losing the fight to keep their English up to the standard of their German because of my own ignorance! I'm rubbish at identifying trees and flowers too and German primary school is very hot indeed on hedgerow skills... I'm quite good at birds...

FlamingoAndJohn · 07/04/2020 19:17

Yes. Peacocks, clouded yellows and commas.

annonymousse · 07/04/2020 19:22

No butterflies but the most enormous and loud bumble bee drifted into my house today.

2010Aussie · 07/04/2020 19:30

Currently six different species in the garden - loads of them out every day

2010Aussie · 07/04/2020 19:38

TiggeryBear · 07/04/2020 19:44

Whilst on our walk today DC & I spotted 2 butterflies & a gorgeous little bee. It was lovely & warm here today.

TranquilityofSolitude · 07/04/2020 19:44

Yes, brimstones, commas and peacocks. We've also had a wasp in the house already.

ShakespearesSisters · 07/04/2020 19:45

Yep, quiet a few. I think I disturbed this one the other day when I was gardening, he took a while to recover but flew away happily after.

Saw two peacocks in the thengarden the other day, cheered me up no end.
And thank you as I didn't know what they were called Grin

Purpletigers · 07/04/2020 21:28

My daughter and I rescued about two dozen today from one of our barns . They were flapping at the window .

speakout · 07/04/2020 21:31

Loads- and lots of bees too.

Fosler · 07/04/2020 21:39

I saw two butterflies today and lots of bees, not sure how early it is for them. I have not seen a mistlethrush for a long time but we are inundated with jackdaws! Everywhere I go there are huge groups of jackdaws!

Kubo · 07/04/2020 21:44

Ah, thanks to this thread I can tell the dcs the butterfly we saw today was a peacock 🙂

MashedSpud · 07/04/2020 21:51

Three cabbage whites.

ethelredonagoodday · 07/04/2020 21:52

I've noticed several in our garden. I don't know if I'm seeing more because I'm at home all the time, or if there are more around, but I've certainly noticed more this year?
Also saw a wasp today - am less thrilled about that... Hmm
