I had a Peacock butterfly sitting on my outside kitchen windowsill a few minutes ago (please excuse the dirt). Must be the sunshine bringing them out of hibernation😊.

I've seen yellow brimstone butterflies, a cabbage white and lots of peacock butterflies. I used to text my DF when I saw the first brimstone butterfly in spring so they always remind me of him. Our holly tree is now flowering and attracting a number of insects and bees so I'm expecting lots of berries in the autumn.

There’s something very life affirming about fat bumblebees bombing about.

Muddlingalongalone · 07/04/2020 12:57

Yes lots & bees too. Spring is really in full swing

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/04/2020 13:51

Rosemary eh? I like the idea of that.

Fuss · 07/04/2020 15:19

Lots of cabbage whites here and cinnabar moths which are red and black and very striking.
I've been followed round all morning by this little fella as well.

Doesn't it make you feel better when the sun is shining and spring is springing around you?

I've seen quite a few when out running in pastoral land, mainly peacocks I think. A few ladybirds too. Some bees including a giant bumblebee that I rescued out of the conservatory. First wasp sighted.

Lots of flies when running, including in my eyes. Probably less being squished by traffic! Good news as bird feed.

LBOCS2 · 07/04/2020 17:23

Peacocks, bumblebees, honeybees so far, no wasps as yet,

Crikeyblimey · 07/04/2020 17:24

Sorry for sideways pic Blush

TwoZeroTwoZero · 07/04/2020 17:28

No butterflies yet but a few bumblebees and a wasp as well as what I think was a lacewing.

Ohyesiam · 07/04/2020 17:28

Yes lots. Some sulphurs , peacocks and the less welcome cabbage whites.
I’m really surprised to hear some people have wasps already, I have never seen them before July/ August in the U.K.

Ohyesiam · 07/04/2020 17:29

Are you in the UK @goldenorbspider?

ThatLibraryMiss · 07/04/2020 17:36

I saw a single Peacock on March 23rd, the first really warm day of Spring. Two days later I saw multiple Peacocks, several Small Whites and a single Brimstone. Then it got cold and they disappeared, but the Peacocks and the Whites are back now. I'm in Wakefield so Spring here is later than dahn sarf.

otterbaby · 07/04/2020 17:39

Yes! Not sure what kind this is?

Xiddling · 07/04/2020 17:56

That's a tortoiseshell butterfly @otterbaby

MangePasTesOnglesVilain · 07/04/2020 17:58

Bees, ladybirds, butterflies here. No swallows or swifts yet though. Lovely blossom.

JohnFinlaysNewTeeth · 07/04/2020 18:16

Yes. We get loads in our garden. I'm terrified of them (highly irrational I know). So they bring me no joy or happiness, but I'm glad we have a garden they seem to thrive in.

Oldraver · 07/04/2020 18:59

Been seeing them for a while mostly the greeny coloured ones but a few coloured ones (heard OH shouting ooo apainted lady)

Had a few Bumble bees and today there were loads of shield bugs ahem stuck together in two's on my lavatera which has two flours on it

MazDazzle · 07/04/2020 19:00

We saw two today for the first time. Grin

anothernotherone · 07/04/2020 19:05

I thought those butterflies were called red admirals. We saw two like that today and lots of the bright yellow ones (the clouded yellow?). My children know their German names and I told them the one in the photo in the opening post is a red admiral in English - did I tell them nonsense? Blush

CherryValance · 07/04/2020 19:10

Yes lots so far this spring, more than last year I think. Today I've seen peacocks, tortoiseshell, comma, orange tip and holly blue. Plus plenty of bumblebees, and various nesting birds.

@anotherone it's a peacock, because of the 'eyes' on the wing like on a peacock's tail. Red admirals are black with white splotches on wing tips and a bright red stripe.

Getitdonesharpish · 07/04/2020 19:11

Yes several butterflies for a couple of weeks here in outer London. It really does brighten my day. Lots of bird activity too. A lovely little robin who comes and collects bits from our garden and flies off into the most beautiful blooming hawthorn tree.

Only seen one bee and no ladybirds.

CherryValance · 07/04/2020 19:12

sorry that was meant to be to @anotherotherone

Doilooklikeatourist · 07/04/2020 19:14
