Another thread is revealing how many loo rolls some of us have ferreted away, so I'm wondering about the great other british hoard item. PASTA. (And tinned tomatoes).

How much do you have?

I only go shopping once every 8 weeks and buy a whole carton of penne and one of spaghetti too so had done that. Unbeknown to me my mum had bought me 10 bags of pasta shells and 8 of spaghetti too. I have 5 bottles of passata about 8 tins of tomatoes and a tube of puree. Our pasta will last about 2 months

DH managed to get two bags and 2x 4 packs of tinned tomatoes yesterday!

We had around 6 packs left made up of penne, fusilli, spaghetti and gluten free (for me) which will last for the next two weeks. We’re a family of 6 so we go through a lot. Using it for lunches now we’re all at home as well.

safariboot · 03/04/2020 13:41

Just under a kilo. 10 portions (a 500 g bag does 6 portions for us). With only 2 of us that should last a decent length of time.

Hopefully I can get some more when I need it. Last shop I wanted to get rice (down to last 2 portions at home) and there wasn't much choice of dry rice. (Loads of microwave packets but I dislike that stuff.)

I have several packets of GF spaghetti (they’ve been in the cupboard ages). And a single small bag of normal pasta.

I only have a single tin of tomatoes though.

I do have 10kg of basmati rice and 5kg of Korean rice. We eat a lot more rice than pasta generally though.

There are 5 of us though. Two of whom have coeliac disease.

4 bags of dried pasta in various shapes, 2 spaghetti, 1 fresh lasagne, I do make my own pasta too.

8 cans tomatoes. This is what is usually in the house.

Meckity1 · 03/04/2020 14:00

I have a few kilos, but less than I would like.

Every year Tesco do a 3 for 2 deal on gluten free stuff. Every year I save a fortune by buying a year's worth of pasta - literally. The pasta I buy will usually last me a year. I also top up with the gluten free gravy granules etc but it's mainly the pasta I go for.

Normally the next event would be the end of April, beginning of May. I am unlikely to be able to stock up in the same way.

I have a very small heap left from last year plus some black bean spaghetti and I'm feeling tense.

I found 9kg of fusilli in the utility at the beginning of February. It turns out, rather than getting the one out of a different room in our house, DH and I would rather just buy a new bag.

Plus what’s in the cupboard plus the spaghetti / linguini, macaroni, conchille, orzo assortment we have in, probably a good 12kg.

I have not bought pasta since January (and probably won’t for a while).

PristineCondition · 03/04/2020 14:06

4 bags of spaghetti - all at least 7 months out of date.
I bag of christmas tree pasta
Tiny bag of minion pasta (no idea)
Half a bag of penne
I bag of weird multicoloured spikey spiral pasta

brightyellowcardigan · 03/04/2020 14:11

I have one packet of spaghetti. I had no idea people ate so much pasta before the panic buying kicked off!

Redwoodmaz · 03/04/2020 14:12

My DH does our shopping at the moment. He came back with pasta shells last week - which I never buy as I don't like them BUT I couldn't remember why!!! I like all the other pasta...
Anyway, I remembered after I cooked them. They all get stuck inside each other. I can't seem to cook them individually as they all clump together. Why???? Is there a tip to prevent this? I stir the pasta as it cooks....
Now we have a huge bag of them to use up. Confused

Oldraver · 03/04/2020 14:13

Two bags of fresh in the fridge and two half (small) bags of dried in the pasta pot.

We only eat pasta once every fortnite or something so will probably last us a while. We have two tins of tomaotoes.

We tend to shop every few days but stuff like tinned tomatoes/beans we will buy as a 6 pack when we are down to a few tins. We haven't bought any since January as typical when our 'stash' was running down the madness hit.

We really haven't got much room to store stuff but dont usually buy much tinned things anyway.

I think I may rethink how we buy food after this

Pascha · 03/04/2020 14:16

1 open bag of pasta twists
3 tins of tomatoes
1 tube of tomato puree.

Since no-one really likes pasta except Ds2 here, I can see that lasting til about Christmas.

Angel2702 · 03/04/2020 14:19

4 tins of tomato from before Christmas, half a jar of spaghetti about 1kg of pasta and a bag of Easter pasta shapes.

tiredanddangerous · 03/04/2020 14:20

None! There’s no pasta or tinned tomatoes to be found anywhere! Or tins of anything else for that matter.

Piglet208 · 03/04/2020 14:21

We have enough for 2 more meals for the 4 adults in the household. I'm rationing to one pasta meal per week. Only enough rice for 1 meal. Going to be eating a lot of potatoes instead.

bumblingbovine49 · 03/04/2020 14:41

We have 3kg of penne, 3 kg of fussili. 1.5kg of spaghetti, 3kg of papardelle, 2 boxes of cannelloni tubes . Also 3kg of spinach and ricotta stuffed tortelli ( the vacuum packed ones that don't need to go in the fridge) We had another 3.5kg in assorted 500g packs that have been eaten in the last three weeks . All of this The except the tortellini were in our store by the end of January.

The tortellini were ordered from a wholesaler which usually sells to restaurants yesterday . DS ( ADHD and ASD) is quite fussy but pasta he will reliably eat in any form and with pretty much anything on it so I feel.bettet for having plenty in for him.
We so have about 15 litres of passata and 20 tins of tomatoes . All also in the store since January. This is lower than it was as we have used a bit and haven't bought any at all since January.

Rockbird · 03/04/2020 14:59

One 3kg bag of fusilli, which I HATE. I love pasta and am happy with all other shapes but this gives me the arse. And about 1kg of assorted odds and ends. We eat a lot of pasta.

H1978 · 03/04/2020 15:45

2x3kg bags of pasta
3x500g spaghetti packs

Family of 5 who eat a lot of pasta

Zisforstripyoss · 03/04/2020 20:57

I have supplies from my Brexit stash from about a year ago! I'm down to 3 tins of tomatoes, no passata, no puree and 2 bags of pasta shapes. However, it's all back in the shops now round me, I notice, so I should be good when I need some.
