Just that?

No, I donated to the meals for NHS workers page, and I have sent some decent handcreams to the local hospital for the staff. Clapping doesn't really do anything constructive as far as I can see.

Seeleyboo · 02/04/2020 13:32

No. It serves no purpose.

JasonPollack · 02/04/2020 13:36

Fkn no.

Chickenpie9 · 02/04/2020 13:37

No

HollySideEyes · 02/04/2020 13:38

No I feel the same, I'm volunteering for the NHS and didn't join in last week but almost convinced I got the side-eye from a happy clappy neighbour the next day.

It reminds me of the people who donate to charity and have to make it known.

No

I didn’t last time either. I think it’s fine if others want to but I feel it doesn’t offer anything meaningful.

HasaDigaEebowai · 02/04/2020 13:39

No but I have donated money to the local hospital staff support fund.

Im also going to give blood since they are in need of this more than a clap.

Glenthebattleostrich · 02/04/2020 13:44

No I'll be on the phone making a supportive call, then organising my exercise tomorrow so I can drop off baking to a lovely lady who works in a care home and they are struggling to get nice treats for their residents. We've done some nice letters and pictures too. Then it's onto organising MIL's shopping and arranging which meds and food need picking up for friends who are isolating. You know, actual practical things.

Egghead68 · 02/04/2020 13:45

No

Tonyaster · 02/04/2020 13:46

No.

Bringer · 02/04/2020 13:47

Of course not.

Patsypie · 02/04/2020 13:48

No. I find it naff

FthisS · 02/04/2020 13:48

No

thecatsthecats · 02/04/2020 13:49

It's practically become a reverse badge of honour to say you aren't.

Well, for what it's worth, we're going to stick our heads out and join in if it's going on.

My next door neighbour is a doctor, and because our street only has houses on one side, there's not much of a communal feel. We forgot the time last time, so missed it, but didn't hear anything on the street.

It will be nice for them to hear it once (they're absolutely lovely people). We won't stand there like pillocks if no one else is.

Jojo19834 · 02/04/2020 13:49

No, think once was a nice gesture, every week just seems too far

thecatsthecats · 02/04/2020 13:50

(just for completeness, I think the new form of naff showboating is talking about what you're doing instead of clapping is kind of the new clapping...)

EasyTarget · 02/04/2020 13:52

No. Do we really need another thread about it?

Tootletum · 02/04/2020 13:52

No I've given money.

Tonyaster · 02/04/2020 13:54

I will be doing fuck all other than sitting down with a glass of wine, watching Great British Menu and feeling relieved that we've got through another day.

KonTikki · 02/04/2020 13:54

No, once last week was a nice gesture, but if it becomes commonplace it loses the specialness of the occasion.

Strugglingtodomybest · 02/04/2020 13:55

No, ive got online book club at 8pm. It's feels pointless anyway. I've donated to the hospital charity instead.

AmelieTaylor · 02/04/2020 13:56

Yes

I will

I think it shows a nice bit of community spirit. I know people have felt less alone hearing the neighbourhood around them.

@Glenthebattleostrich. Funnily enough the 5 minutes sharing this with my neighbours (from an upstairs window) doesn’t prevent me doing other things & I don’t feel the need to list them 🙄

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/04/2020 13:56

No

Flumo · 02/04/2020 13:56

Yes of course, I work for the nhs and know how it makes the hard working staff feel. I've personally made donations to the nhs and have gave a hell of a lot of body wash/soaps ect to the poor patients who cant get anyone to bring anything in for them. I'll be clapping louder tonight as the fight gets stronger!! 💪

KateBlush · 02/04/2020 14:04

I'm going to. Joined in reluctantly last week (these sorts of public display would ordinarily make me recoil with horror) but can honestly say it was a wonderful experience and I'm bloody glad I got over myself. Lots of NHS/ keyworkers on our street. Great to be able to show them our gratitude and enjoy the massive sense of togetherness with the many other neighbours that turned out. I'm going full pots and pans this time!
