If you didn't stockpile

What do you wish you had? I'm gagging for some tayto cheese and onion crisps. They actually had them in the supermarket when I went a few days ago but I forgot them and I would have had to walk past three queues of people to get them (I only remembered when I was in my own queue). It would be irresponsible to go to the corner shop for some so now I'll have to wait til my next shop.*

*Obviously I will buy a reasonable amount of crisps and not every packet available. Probably.

Pasta. I love pasta and have one bag in the house which I'm saving for an emergency - complete craving day. Also, I don't have ice cream - there's not enough room in my fridge/freezer for proper food and crap.

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 29/03/2020 22:05

Oh, I could definitely guzzle some Ben and Jerry's right now.

Ooh icecream. Adds to shopping list.

Chocolate supplies. Although judging by the number of easter eggs this is not going to run out.

JaneEyre7 · 29/03/2020 22:26

We live in an area very prone to flooding so over the winter, I always keep the larder well stocked with basics so we're managing ok although DH was muttering about lentils not being "proper" food tonight.

But I'm truly desperate for some Brie, crackers and walnuts right now!

BruceAndNosh · 29/03/2020 22:29

Really nice biscuits.
I resorted to some Christmas shortbread I found skulking at back of cupboard

catfeets · 29/03/2020 22:32

Beef monster munch. Found a pack in my local shop the other day, got them home to find they weren't sealed properly so were stale Angry.

TheMagiciansMewTwo · 29/03/2020 22:34

Salt and vinegar snackajacks. I managed to get own brand salt and vinegar rice cakes and they taste like sawdust Sad

Echobelly · 29/03/2020 22:35

Frozen quorn pieces. I bet lots of the people who hoarded them won't even bloody use them.

We have built up maybe about 2 weeks' worth of 'long life' products (never did loo roll though!), although have given half out tinned toms and all our almond milk from Costco to my parents because they had trouble getting hold of anything.

ADreamOfGood · 29/03/2020 22:37

Tampons. They've all been out of stock for weeks where I shop! Bit annoyed now tbh.
Also I need dental floss.

Some treacle oat cookies from Sainsbury's.
Peanut butter
GF steak pie for DD
White toblerone

safariboot · 29/03/2020 22:40

Cola. I don't drink it much but others in the household get through at least a 2 litre a day. With supermarket item limits, it's likely to force me to shop much more often than I'd otherwise need to.

It's also occurred to me that if I knew how to bake bread and had a sack of flour in the cupboard that'd be useful. We don't have freezer space to store loads of bread but ingredients for home baking will keep for ages. (I baked some earlier, it was kind of crap and there's not flour left for another go.)

That is the pits. It's always the last or only bag as well. I'd post them back with a complaint. At the very least you should get a replacement.

And now I really want monster munch too.

OhNoNoNoNotThatOne · 29/03/2020 22:42

Dr Pepper, I've been in the mood for it for 3 days, but went shopping Wednesday so can't really justify another shopping trip just yet.

MiniatureRed · 29/03/2020 22:47

I bought many, many red hot Cheetos from the corner shop today.

Samtsirch · 29/03/2020 22:57

Just Bombay Mix

itmusthavebeencoffee · 29/03/2020 23:00

Robinsons peach juice! I wish I could chug a huge, cold glass of the stuff..

Ydl22 · 29/03/2020 23:01

Baked Camembert with garlic bread to dip in. Heaven

cheesemongery · 29/03/2020 23:02

Bog roll Grin

down to our last roll.

Tinned tomatoes.

Every basic everybody did stockpile.

notacooldad · 29/03/2020 23:04

Nothing.
We have been able to get everything we need without fuss on the whole. I just had one day without white onions and frozen chopped onions but they have been restocked. We had a couple of days without flour but I had enough to do an evenings baking and have since got some more.

frasersmummy · 29/03/2020 23:07

Garlic bread.. I have a nice home made lasagne in the freezer and no garlic bread to go with it..

And now Ice cream...

KizzyWayfarer · 29/03/2020 23:07

Pasta. And lots of bread flour and yeast. I have one bag of flour left.

AWaspOnAWindowReturns · 29/03/2020 23:09

Linda McCartney sausages. Literally nowhere near me had had any in stock for over a fortnight. They're practically all I eat usually 😭

Ariela · 29/03/2020 23:10

Loo roll (quilted, for the old lady I shop for she struggles with thin stuff)
Gluten free meals (for above lady, none in shops)
salad/cherry tomatoes (also for above lady)
Ice cream (to go with rhubarb (from garden) crumble but we've eaten it now)
Crisps (not for me but DH)
tins of chopped tomato (would use for bolognese)
tomato puree (ditto)
garlic (ditto)
Crusty olive bread (can't see that re-appearing on the shelf in a hurry)

EugeniaGrace · 29/03/2020 23:11

Plain white flour

I am having to meal plan around the novelty flour that was languishing in the back of my cupboard (Buckwheat, gram, strong wholemeal) these days.

Noodlenosefraggle · 29/03/2020 23:12

Tesco spicy beanburgers. I made my own instead. They were rank. DH fried them in a ton of oil and melted cheese on top. They were barely edible but, you know- pandemic so we had to eat them!

BreconBeBuggered · 29/03/2020 23:19

Crisps, pop, wine. The crisp aisles have been cleared everywhere I look. We don't drink tea or coffee and with everyone at home all day we're getting through soft drinks faster than I can keep up the supply, and popping down for diet Pepsi doesn't seem entirely within the spirit of the restrictions. .
I only buy myself one bottle of wine a week. but DH prefers lower-alcohol things as he tends to swallow it down at the same rate whatever the abv. The packs of cans he normally has are usually out of stock atm, so I get the 500ml bottles instead, so of course they each count towards the limit, whereas a pack of 4 cans would be a single purchase.
Feel like a wanker for moaning about something so trivial now. But there you are.
