If you didn't stockpile

What do you wish you had? I'm gagging for some tayto cheese and onion crisps. They actually had them in the supermarket when I went a few days ago but I forgot them and I would have had to walk past three queues of people to get them (I only remembered when I was in my own queue). It would be irresponsible to go to the corner shop for some so now I'll have to wait til my next shop.*

*Obviously I will buy a reasonable amount of crisps and not every packet available. Probably.

DH is going to have to start eating meat if I can't replenish our Quorn stocks, as a pp said I bet people stockpile them and then realise they're not a direct meat replacement and bin them Angry

CigarsofthePharoahs · 30/03/2020 08:23

Boring - canned chopped tomatoes. Didn't realise how many meals I make with them until we had none. I've asked DH to get fresh tomatoes when he goes if there's still no canned. I'm not allowed to leave the house till Friday.
I wish we had some chocolate in. Quality street would be nice.

I bought absolutely no extras, just carried on shopping as I normally do and I've actually managed to get everything I need every week! I did want to buy pasta and tinned tomatoes to make a chilli this week, I went to Aldi yesterday and luckily they had some. I think the shelves are starting to look a lot better, Asda also had some pasta, not loads but the shops are filling up again.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 30/03/2020 08:47

Should add though there is only me and 6yo DS so the limit on items make no difference to us.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 30/03/2020 09:15

it was a grab bag too - was so looking forward to scoffing the lot really quickly

This just gets worse @catfeets. I hope you get new supplies and luxuriate in the whole bag in one go. Buy a few to make sure.

(still craving them now myself)

Didn’t stockpile, have been doing my usual weekly shop, haven’t missed out on anything at all. Supermarkets in my area were getting back to normal a week ago, helped by limiting the numbers entering the stores I think - there was loads of bog roll, paracetamol, fresh end dried pasta, sanitary products, eggs.

notacooldad · 30/03/2020 10:17

Crusty olive bread (can't see that re-appearing on the shelf in a hurry)
Our morrisons garage has it in. I bought site on Saturday.

MadMadMad · 30/03/2020 10:36

Supermarkets here are mostly well stocked now but the one thing I cannot get is paracetamol - I have half a packet from before all this started but if any of us get the virus we will need more than that!

SlayB · 30/03/2020 10:46

Some first aid kits have parcetamol.

BearSoFair · 30/03/2020 11:10

Pasta, tinned tomatoes, fresh veg I could have frozen, beef mince - again could have bought up and frozen. And Pringles!

HarrietTheShy · 30/03/2020 11:11

I've been dying for a freshly made brownie.

ADreamOfGood · 30/03/2020 12:13

Sainsbury's had pringles @BearSoFair they were even on offer!
I didn't buy any because DH is in his third week of isolation at home, and he used to walk to and from work forty minutes each way, and now he just gets one brief midnight stroll. He goes through a while tube in no time...

pickletickled · 30/03/2020 12:14

Lurpak!
can't get any near me.
Dh grabbed the lidl alternative Confused I can't use it, it's nowhere near similar.

goldpartyhat · 30/03/2020 12:59

Fresh fruit.

KenAdams · 30/03/2020 13:47

@frasersmummy probably too late but when I'm out of garlic breads I take some butter and mix in some chopped/minced garlic with it and some dried for fresh chives if you have them. I then butter some slices of a normal loaf with them, pop the slices together, wrap in foil and stick in the oven at 170ish for 15 mins. Just keep checking it until the butters all melted. It's delicious.
