I'm self isolating with a cold (as far as you can when you have kids who keep wanting to see you)... so entertain me... this thread is light hearted please so exaggerate them all you like Grin Only on day 2 and ready to cry

I'll start

I am very distressed, in fact utterly distraught because Gousto have just emailed me to say they can't get enough balsamic vinegar to go with my recipes so they're sending me red wine vinegar instead... my world is ruined.

@LaMarschallin you just won today with your substitutions for chicken schnitzel Grin

Wheresthebeach · 29/03/2020 17:24

We are out of risotto rice! Tried finding some before lockdown but no luck...sob

rosybell · 29/03/2020 17:27

I love a glass of wine in the evening, but often not more than one or two. DH doesn't drink wine, so if I open a bottle I feel compelled to drink two nights in a row so it doesn't go off, and sometimes that fact puts me off opening the wine.

(Have added some half bottles to my next online delivery to combat the first world problem!)

Frownette · 29/03/2020 17:28

My tea is lukewarm so I have to get off the sofa and go to the kitchen to make another

OnceUponACat · 29/03/2020 17:30

I want cream with the crumble I made and I only have custard

SittingAround1 · 29/03/2020 17:33

rosybell you could make a nice beef bourgignon with the slightly off wine, if it's red or a risotto if white.

I ordered tomato seeds online but they've not arrived. I'm concerned that they won't be delivered.

TigerJoy · 29/03/2020 17:34

Dh left the basil plant outside the other night and it died, so now we need to use frozen basil instead

I am running low on cornichon

jauntynomates · 29/03/2020 17:34

My usual thick and creamy Greek-style yoghurt and my favourite rich roast 100% peanut butter were both substituted in my grocery delivery. I was given an organic Greek-style yoghurt which isn’t as thick and the regular 100% peanut butter from the same brand. This is especially troubling as I eat them together.

I had to mix my yoghurt with mascarpone to get the desired thickness and just have to accept the not-richly-roasted peanut butter

TigerJoy · 29/03/2020 17:34

I have pickled cucumbers BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME

TigerJoy · 29/03/2020 17:36

I also thought I'd ordered a very nice basket of flowering narcissi and grape hyacinths but a load of bloody bulbs arrived instead!

iklboo · 29/03/2020 17:39

I have no flour so have had to use ready made Yorkshire puddings with lunch.

Pajamagirl · 29/03/2020 17:40

@FudgeBrownie2019
Use them to make choc mousse
Sounds odd but delicious , or mash em and spread on toast with a poached egg ( if u have any )

Happynow · 29/03/2020 17:41

Gails have stopped slicing bread 😢

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/03/2020 17:45

I had some apples on the turn so made a crumble but that's taken me over my calories on plan...

lifelongfrugaleer · 29/03/2020 17:46

Love the Dinos

Maxineputyourredshoeson · 29/03/2020 17:57

I desperately want Belgian buns - can’t get any and Dracula teeth sweets they’re about £11 for 1kg and I refuse to pay that much for them. I may have had a little, okay huge ugly, cry because of the above.

I have now also decided I want a bread maker, unfortunately so has everyone else and they’ve now gone up in price.

DD2 has her birthday in a week, everything that we had planned has now been cancelled including the McDonald’s that she requested and I was really looking forward too.

lonelySam · 29/03/2020 18:37

I was doing very well with the weight loss but ever since the lockdown I've hit the plateau and cannot shift anything.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 29/03/2020 18:39

My last good tea towel has a hole in it, I'm really irrationally annoyed

underneaththeash · 29/03/2020 18:43

DS likes panini for lunch and I’ve not been able to get the ones he likes from Waitrose, so last week I successfully made them. However I can no longer get strong bread flour, so the ones I made this morning were a disaster!
(He had eggs and beans for lunch instead)...,,,

isseywith4vampirecats · 29/03/2020 18:46

cant order my lovely shiny new kitchen because DIY Kitchens have (understandably) closed the showroom and im not confident enough to order it online the ones benefitting in this house are the cats who now have access to a human cat flap every ten minutes instead of when im home from work

Itstheprinciple · 29/03/2020 19:02

I need to go to the shops for a few bits tomorrow, not much as we've got meat and veg being delivered, but stuff like cat food etc. DH asked where I was planning on going so I said that I'd planned to go to Lidl (closer and smaller) as only needed a few things but they don't sell kefir for my breakfast so I'll have to go to Morrisons instead (and probably have to queue to get in).

DH looked at me like Hmm

I'm my defence, I have terrible IBS and kefir is the one thing I've found which really helps with the bloating and stomach pain. But, yes, I do realise how it sounds. (But it is essential to me!)

iklboo · 29/03/2020 19:05

I miss sushi

Doje · 29/03/2020 19:19

My normal bottle of shampoo has gone up to £50 on Amazon! 😮

It's nowt fancy. The world has gone bonkers.

dementedma · 29/03/2020 19:28

I can’t lock the summer house yet because the sodding cat is taking advantage of the lighter evening and refusing to come out. He bites.

GuyFawkesDay · 29/03/2020 19:31

There are no biscuits left. At all.

Damnit.
