Following a conversation with DH... What is the best dinosaur. He says velociraptor. Personally I prefer Pteredons, but I don't think they are strictly dinosaurs. I'm rather impressed by giraffatitans too...

It's not perfect, but there is a virtual NHM tour.

Where can I find the virtual tour?

*Triceratops. Easy.

This. WTF is wrong with the rest of you? It's clearly the best.*

Correct

Queenoftheashes · 25/03/2020 19:04

Wtf no bold

lamppostdog · 25/03/2020 19:06

T Rex - love Stan at Manchester Museum

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/03/2020 19:09

Wtf no bold

You have to bold both lines. Happy to help fellow Triceratops aficionados.

jillandhersprite · 25/03/2020 19:18

According to one of my girls it's velociraptor, the other says the indomnus rex (even though the older one is saying it doesn't count because it's not real!)
Personally I like the little ones that hunt in packs but would need to go and check the book for their name!!!
Bookskark - that is dangerous information!!! We are big Pokémon go fans and I really don't need another app on my phone that they fight over but I am off to investigate!!!

jillandhersprite · 25/03/2020 19:20

Ooh lamppostdog we love Stan as well - always referred to by first name and like a member of the family!!!

Lonelycrab · 25/03/2020 19:22

Ankylosaurus fan here, nice to see I’m not the only one. There’s something about the spiky club tail I find somehow appealingSmile

MotherForkinShirtBalls · 25/03/2020 19:31

I'm team parasaurolophus too. Ds lost his beloved Spiderman teddy on holiday one year and was only consoled by replacing it with a new cuddly para. Special place in my heart 💗

Brontosaurus 🦕 I do believe he was the biggest of them all - however the largest living thing ever on the planet is still the blue whale 🐳

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 25/03/2020 19:39

What’s that big one in the tank in Jurassic world that eats great whites

Mosasaurus. We have a giant one in the bath as ds is also rather fond of them.

SilverOtter · 25/03/2020 19:52

T rex's arms are just ridiculous, how can I take seriously a creature that cannot pick it's own nose?Hmm

I like plesiosaurs, I like the sound it makes when I say itSmile

Flymetothetoon · 25/03/2020 21:24

I suspect if nature had evolved then T Rex would not have had those tiny arms but his jaws would have got even bigger and his legs more muscular and powerful.

Sgtmajormummy · 25/03/2020 21:32

Archaeopteryx.

DS had a handmade costume, he was so obsessed.
Learning about dinosaurs gave me a crash course in ancient Greek.
Never a bad thing...

"T rex's arms are just ridiculous, how can I take seriously a creature that cannot pick it's own nose?"

Really sad to see Tyrannosaurid body shaming on MN. Sad

My favourite is the Edmontosaurus. I was a dinosaur mega geek as a kid but despite this my selection of an admittedly less known dinosaur has less to do with any particular feature or skill which it possessed.

The reason why Edmontosaurus is my favourite (and has been since I was about 7) is because, in the dinosaur top trumps I had the Edmontosaurus was quite tall and in its picture there was a cloud which was so positioned it made him look like he had a super bouffant hair do including a spectacular quiff.

I found this so hilarious, and my siblings and I loved him so that we had a new rule which meant no matter the actual scores Edmontosaurus always won.

soupforbrains · 25/03/2020 22:18

❤️

CaptainCallisto · 25/03/2020 22:32

My favourite has to be Stegosaurus. I had loads of them as a child, and DS2 now has most of them. Whenever he's playing with his Dino's and the T-Rex attacks, it's always 'Mama Steg' who finally defeats him and saves the day Grin

AngelaScandal · 25/03/2020 23:01

@Aroundtheworldin80moves tha knyou so much for the tip!

Triceratops. Easy. This. WTF is wrong with the rest of you? It's clearly the best.

This. T rex was basically just an oversized chicken.

Genderwitched · 26/03/2020 16:11

It's not actually a dinosaur but I'm obsessed with the Dunkleosteus.

Proper dinosaurs would have to be T Rex.
