Some people are saying they'll do this but I can't help thinking it's just another unnecessary risk.

I had one last night

Office365 · 20/03/2020 13:04

Yes I would.

Mycoronausername · 20/03/2020 13:04

Get them to leave it at the door? We are self isolating so I ordered on Uber eats and asked it to be left in our porch. :-)

sprayandwipealot · 20/03/2020 13:05

I'm asking because I really, really want one tonight tbh!

We had a Chinese takeaway last night when we almost never have them. We wanted to support a self employed businesses and I heard Chinese restaurants and takeaways have been hit the hardest. I don't see how it is any more risky than taking an online shopping delivery or visiting an actual shop.

sprayandwipealot · 20/03/2020 13:05

Looking good so far!

WorraLiberty · 20/03/2020 13:06

We're getting one tonight.

Just Eat have said deliverers will knock and leave it on the doorstep.

Online payments only.

granadagirl · 20/03/2020 13:06

Had one on Wednesday and again on Saturday

sprayandwipealot · 20/03/2020 13:07

Yes, it's a Chinese takeaway we want. Yes, you're right user1333796, bringing food in from shop is really not different.

Rockbird · 20/03/2020 13:07

We're getting one tonight too. To have a bit of a treat and break up the endless cooking monotony, especially now I'm trying to work out what goes with what to maximise supplies.

Undecided what it will be yet.

Grumpbum123 · 20/03/2020 13:08

We booked one last night through local pub they sold it as they would bring to car and you pay online. In reality h had to pay with cash go into the pub and collect so weren’t that impressed

sprayandwipealot · 20/03/2020 13:10

I just need a 'treat' to cheer us up after this awful week.

MoltoAgitato · 20/03/2020 13:10

I would give my right arm for a Chinese takeaway but we’re in isolation:/

mrsed1987 · 20/03/2020 13:13

We had one on Wednesday which was our first day in self isolation. Just eat left it on the door step and we actually wiped the containers with anti bac then washed our hands lol just to be cautious xxx

PanicAtTheTesco · 20/03/2020 13:14

Absolutely. I think it's my patriotic duty to, given the state of the economy.

sprayandwipealot · 20/03/2020 13:14

MoltoAgitato ahh...hope you all get well soon.Flowers

Yes we are going to have regular takeaways for as long as they remain open, these local businesses need supporting at this time more than ever and it means we can save the stuff in our cupboards for longer

wendz86 · 20/03/2020 13:18

I had one last night.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 20/03/2020 13:19

Surly if you are in isolation you can still have a no contact delivery @MoltoAgitato?? Pay online and get them to leave it on your doorstep?

I'm assuming that you live close enough for that, apologies if not.

thenightsky · 20/03/2020 13:19

I have to drive 20 mins to get a take away. I do wish I lived somewhere that had delivery. I really want chicken fried rice now Sad

CatSmize · 20/03/2020 13:19

I live in a country where we are on lockdown and our cupboards are looking quite bare 'til my DH can get to the supermarket. I was going to order through Just Eat for lunch today but the comments on their FB page have made me feel awful and really put me off! People are basically calling them shameless for putting their delivery people at risk (despite the handover being contactless) and saying how selfish people are for ordering a totally unnecessary takeaway Blush

I was shocked and thought I'd be supporting a local restaurant. Not sure what to do now...

userxx · 20/03/2020 13:20

You're probably more likely to choke to death on it then get the virus from it.

WhateverHappenedToBathPearls · 20/03/2020 13:20

Planning one tonight. Domino's have started doing no contact delivery apparently where they put it on the doorstep, phone you to says it's there and wait in their car while you collect it.

Chemenger · 20/03/2020 13:24

Just Eat let’s you choose to have no contact delivery. We will be supporting local business, including increased work delivering, by regularly having takeaway. It may be the only way we get meat, since it is stripped from the supermarket every day. (Surely people’s freezers are starting to get full). I want our local restaurants to exist when we get to the other side of this.

AngelicaKauffman · 20/03/2020 13:25

Can the virus not be spread by someone who is infected preparing food that you then eat? Touching the food, touching the box/bag it comes in, etc.?
