Anita Anand and Paddy O'Connell alot. They sound so warm and friendly. I used to love the sound of Alistair Cooke as well.

Am I alone in this or do others have similar leanings.

Richard Allinson
Ken Bruce
Dermot O'Leary
Alex Lester
Liza Tarbuck
Sara Cox
Craig Cox

Don't know where Richard Allinson has got to, Alex Lester was fired from the BBC after accepting a job on Greatest Hits Radio (but Paul Gambaccini has kept his after getting a job on the same station), Simon Mayo is now on Scala, Sara Cox is on at the wrong time for my liking and Craig Charles is never on when I'm able to listen.

Also, Janice Long is also on Greatest Hits Radio on Saturday afternoons.

Jenni Murray - Woman’s Hour
Matthew Parris- Great Lives

Both Radio 4

I’m with everyone on the Sir Terry Wogan love. Never equalled, let alone bettered.

I adore Johnnie Walker on a Sunday afternoon with Sounds of the 70s. He is so knowledgeable and clearly loves the music he plays.

Also a Ken Bruce fan, proper old school radio DJ and everything stops for Popmaster! 😀

Cannot stand the breathy, gaspy Zoe Ball and others in her ilk. They are so frenetic they make me panic! Gentle soothing radio voices required, Radio 2.

Liza Tarbuck, and Ken Bruce, who I remember listening to on Radio Scotland 40 years ago!

Ursaminor · 15/03/2020 20:07

... and also Rylan, and the Rev Richard Coles.

1wokeuplikethis · 15/03/2020 20:09

I too am far too young to say it but I adore ken Bruce! There’s something fatherly about him and I love listening.

Agree Vanessa feltz has a beautiful voice.

SwingoutSisterSledge · 15/03/2020 20:09

Yes to Paul O'Grady on Sundays .. was expecting Alan and Mel , who have been great but almost cheered when I heard his voice back on the radio again .

I second the posters who said Paddy O'Connell and Eddie Mair.

1066vegan · 15/03/2020 20:19

Roman Mars (Amercan podcaster) has a wonderful deep, rich voice.

lazylinguist · 15/03/2020 20:28

Paddy O'Connell and the late Terry Wogan. Kirsty Young, Jane Garvey. Rylan, on the other hand, has the most annoying voice I've ever heard in my life. Followed by Jeremy Vine.

Coronacorona · 15/03/2020 20:43

Agree with PP abou Anita Anand - she’s so dismissive to the callers on the show.
Cringingly patronising in my view!

Coronacorona · 15/03/2020 20:44

On the other end of the radio spectrum, the loathsome Amanda Holden really needs to go too!

PorridgeAgainAbney · 15/03/2020 20:52

I love Amal (no idea who he is or if I've spelled it correctly) who was covering for someone on R2 last week, he was also on Richard Osman's quiz show recently and his voice is so lovely. That sounds so vague but I was listening to him on Sounds so not live: sometimes I listen to Sara Cox (whose voice and personality I also love Smile) in the morning at work and then have a millisecond of panic when the 6pm news comes on Grin.

monkeytennis97 · 15/03/2020 20:53

Clive Bull (calm and lovely)
Eddie Mair (ditto)
James O'Brien (cheeky on occasion)
Steve Allen (just love listening to him when I wake up).

Miss Mike Allen for his voice. Night line was fab. RIP.
